Bombs in Madrid, Istanbul and Bali and ricin in London:
Security services organised the Madrid bombs?

Mary Riddel, writing in the Observer about the Ricin trial, reminds us about the story of Auntie Annie's 'bomb factory'.
According to the police, Annie Maguire taught her small children how to make bombs in her Kilburn home.
Mrs Maguire and two of her sons were jailed. Her younger children were farmed out. Her brother-in-law, Giuseppe Conlon, died in prison, of emphysema and despair.
More than 25 years later, Tony Blair apologised publicly to the Maguire seven for one of the gravest miscarriages of justice of the last century.
There was no bomb factory and no plot.
Last week, Bourgass was convicted of conspiring to cause a public nuisance.
There was no ricin.
There was no al-Qaeda recipe, only a recipe apparently invented by a white American Christian survivalist and downloaded from the internet.
According to Mary Riddel, "Tony Blair, David Blunkett, Colin Powell and senior police officers all used the arrests to illustrate the existence of a new breed of Islamist super-terrorist. A criminal prosecution was exploited to fit a political agenda. A war was justified and civil liberties imperilled by the ricin stash that never was."
"The affair of the sham ricin casts a long shadow over the police, the Crown Prosecution Service, the credulous sensationalists of the media and, most of all, over politicians."
~~~
Simon Jenkins Times, April 15, in The Times:
"Bourgass, an illegal immigrant from Algeria, was found in possession of ...recipes for ricin... copied from a 1980s Palo Alto website in California ... It had nothing to do with al-Qaida
"This man appears to have been the miserable detritus of a North African dictatorship....
"As for his eight supposed co-conspirators.... the crown never established them as terrorists, let alone al-Qaida. The trial, initiated in the run-up to the Iraq war, was heavily political."
The 'ricin plot' that didn't add up to a row of beans
http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/crime/story.jsp?story=630187
In the Independent on Sunday, Severin Carrell and Raymond Whitaker report on Ricin: The Plot that never was.
The Ricin plot story was revealed before the invasion of Iraq.
But there was no ricin - a fact suppressed for more than two years.
There was no terrorist cell, just one deluded and dangerous man who killed a police officer during a bungled immigration raid.
No al-Qa'ida plot ever materialised.
According to the Independent on Sunday, "A terrorism trial which was spun from start to finish, abetted by many senior elements of the security establishment and much hysterical coverage in the media, is still being manipulated, regardless of the evidence in court."
"The 'ricin plot' was used before the Iraq war by Tony Blair as evidence of the danger from weapons of mass destruction, and by Colin Powell, then US Secretary of State, before the UN Security Council as proof that Iraq was aiding al-Qa'ida terrorism."
Claims against Bourgass - that he had military training in Afghanistan and was linked to al-Qa'ida, that he planned to smear poisons on car door handles in London's Holloway Road - came from Mohammed Meguerba (who may have links to the police and security services)
When British investigators went to Algeria and asked Meguerba to repeat his claims, defence lawyers point out, he withdrew most of them.
The jury refused to convict Bourgass of conspiracy to commit acts of Islamist terrorism by killing innocent civilians.
Professor Alistair Hay, one of Britain's foremost authorities on toxins, was scathing about Meguerba's allegations that ricin would be smeared on door handles. Ricin, he said, had to be injected straight into a victim to be a reliable weapon.
Professor Hay told The Independent on Sunday, "The claims made before the trial about this major ricin plot were very, very questionable".
On 7 January 2003 - the same day that two cabinet ministers claimed ricin had been found in north London - Porton scientists had realised there was no ricin there at all.
Defence lawyers, however, believe ministers knew at an early stage that the claimed ricin find was wrong.
Gareth Peirce, the human rights lawyer who acted for three of the acquitted men, claims that as ministers built up the fear of terrorist attack on Britain and prepared the public for the invasion of Iraq, the Government twice allowed largely unfounded scare stories to dominate the headlines - the ricin conspiracy and the alleged "poison gas" attack on the London Underground.
The alleged plot to target the Tube first appeared in The Sunday Times.
In fact, no such plot had been discovered.
As for Meguerba: 'there was no signed or recorded confession, just a memo or briefing drafted by Algerian security police which was given to the British'. Meguerba's story contained so many contradictions that Nigel Sweeney QC, the chief prosecution barrister in the Old Bailey trial, refused repeated requests by defence lawyers to allow him to give evidence.
Nazi Pope?
http://www.timboucher.com/journal/2005/04/09/cardinal-ratzinger-next-pope-nazi/
“In spite of his age, Ratzinger has recently jumped to the top of the list of candidates,” according to Vatican watcher, Sandro Magister, in L’Espresso magazine recently.
As a young man, Ratzinger was a member of the Hitler Youth in Bavaria, and was drafted into the Wehrmacht, the Nazi army.
He ended up in an Allied POW camp in 1945
In his early years in office, Ratzinger moved to stamp out liberation theology
Ratzinger is the author of a May 2001 letter to bishops stating that the “Crimine solicitationies” law (regarding strict secrecy in sex abuse cases) is still in effect.
It referred back to a 40 year old church document:
The 69-page Latin document bearing the seal of Pope John XXIII was sent to every bishop in the world. The instructions outline a policy of ’strictest’ secrecy in dealing with allegations of sexual abuse and threatens those who speak out with excommunication.
They also call for the victim to take an oath of secrecy at the time of making a complaint to Church officials. It states that the instructions are to ‘be diligently stored in the secret archives of the Curia [Vatican] as strictly confidential. Nor is it to be published nor added to with any commentaries.’
[…] Bishops are instructed to pursue these cases ‘in the most secretive way… restrained by a perpetual silence… and everyone… is to observe the strictest secret which is commonly regarded as a secret of the Holy Office… under the penalty of excommunication’.
The Ricin plot, the Guardian, the BBC's Mark Easton, the Listener.nz and Le Monde
"In recent years, firm evidence has begun to emerge from Algerian military sources and leading academics that the dreaded armed Islamic group, the GIA, has been, perhaps from the outset..., a dummy, or "screen" organisation managed by French/Algerian counter-intelligence."
http://www.guardian.co.uk/terrorism/story/0,12780,1461271,00.html
Home Office says sorry to ricin suspects.
According to the Guardian, the Home Office has apologised to 10 men linked to the ricin plot.
Defence lawyers in the ricin trial said the case was a conspiracy used by the government to justify the war in Iraq and detention without trial in the UK.
The Guardian has seen the letter sent to Mahmoud Abu Rideh, a Palestinian refugee who was released last month from Broadmoor high-security psychiatric hospital and is subject to a control order.
In the original control order, he was accused of being involved in the ricin plot.
Mohammed Meguerba is the Algerian ‘supergrass’ at the centre of claims that al-Qaida was linked to the plot to attack Britain with ricin.
Details of the testimony given by Mohammed Meguerba show him lying to British police about his involvement in the plot, and show important inconsistencies in his account.
He claimed that he had learned to make poisons in an al-Qaida camp in Afghanistan in 2002, after the US had invaded and such camps had been smashed up by bombs.
Meguerba is the only source for the belief that the London-based ‘terror gang’ produced ricin, despite scientific tests showing it did not.
Inconsistencies put credibility of supergrass in question
The Guardian has obtained details of the testimony given by Meguerba which put his credibility in question.
In one account he denied being involved in any ricin plot.
Some accounts say Bourgass downloaded a ricin recipe from the internet.
At one point Meguerba claims a man at Finsbury Park mosque in north London, whom he names, gave him the ricin recipe to photocopy. Later, he said it was Bourgass who gave him the poison recipes.
Lawyers for the accused say Meguerba was not only a police informant but was also an instigator of the conspiracy.
No ricin was found, and tests by government scientists found that none had been produced.
The most significant British terrorism trial since the attacks on America in 2001 ended with eight people being acquitted of conspiracy to murder and the jury deadlocked on the ninth, Bourgass.
While being interviewed by British officers, Mr Meguerba said of his co-conspirator: "I did not say he wanted to kill people."
"I must agree with Simon Jenkins in yesterday's Times. Much of the "ricin reporting" has been a complete disgrace....
"My real disappointment was in the BBC's reports last Wednesday.
"A casual viewer of Mark Easton's blockbuster for the 10 o'clock news and Newsnight could be forgiven for believing that all nine suspects had been convicted...
"Little or no distinction was made between police theories, evidence ruled inadmissible during the trial process, and facts eventually proven in the case...
"No lawyers or more sceptical voices of any kind were included.
"Finally, Mr Easton celebrated that ‘Now at last the legal gag preventing the police from explaining the threat has been lifted’...
Perhaps Mr Easton's report could be sufficient basis for indefinite punishment without trial?
Was the Ricin plot organised by the security services?
Kamel Bourgass was the only person convicted in the ‘ricin plot’.
The affair began with Algerian Muhammad Meguerba.
Meguerba was the person who first told the police there was a ricin plot.
Meguerba was the person who, according to Bourgass, had wanted to get hold of a recipe for ricin, to be used against bandits back in Algeria.
Meguerba was the person who led the police to Algerian Kamel Bourgass.
Meguerba was able to skip bail and return to his native Algeria.
Meguerba was a police informant, according to defence lawyers throughout the ricin trial.
Algeria Ah! This is where wicked Moslem extremists kill people and oppose democracy, isn't it?
Well no, not exactly!
In 1991 the Islamic Party known as FIS won a landslide in the country's first FREE multiparty elections.
The USA was not happy; and the corrupt Algerian elite were not happy.
So the army took over.
Then the killings began. More than 100,000 people have died.
But is it the Moslem extremists doing the killings?
In February 2001, 'The Dirty War', by Habib Souaidia, a former Algerian army officer, was published.
It tells of the part played by the Algerian army in the killing of tens of thousands of Algerians.
Habib writes: "I have seen colleagues burn alive a 15-year-old child.
"I have seen soldiers disguising themselves as terrorists and massacring civilians.
"I have seen colonels kill mere suspects in cold blood.
"I have seen officers torture fundamentalists to death...."
Last year, the feared Algerian general Khaled Nezzar sued one of the authors (Habib Souaida) in a Paris court for libel – and lost, largely due to compelling testimony by the star witness, the former Algerian colonel Mohammed Samraoui."
Fake terror, including the Gunpowder Plot
Fake terror - many examples at:
http://www.prisonplanet.com/archive_war_on_terror.html#alerts
Macedonian police gunned down seven innocent Pakistani immigrants, then claimed they were terrorists, in a killing staged to show they were participating in the US-led war on terror, authorities said....
The Gunpowder Plot.
Many historians believe that:
1. James I's Protestant spymaster, Robert Cecil, was the brains behind the Gunpowder Plot.
2. Some of the Gunpowder plotters were working for Cecil.
The story goes that Cecil manufactured the plot in an attempt to discredit the Catholic cause.
In the climate of fear following the Gunpowder Plot, Cecil and his supporters were able to pass more anti-Catholic laws and to make more money from fines on Catholics. Cecil was in a position to destroy Catholic rivals, such as the Earl of Northumberland, and had an opportunity to seize Catholic lands.
The official story of the gunpowder plot does not make sense. The 'confessions' were obtained under torture.
Why would the Catholic plotters have wanted to blow up parliament when it housed not only Protestants but also all the country's leading Catholics?
Elizabeth, James' protestant daughter, was was due to take over, if the plotters succeeded. Why would the Catholic plotters want Elizabeth on the throne?
The government had a monopoly on gunpowder and it was stored in places like the Tower of London. How did the conspirators get hold of 36 barrels of gunpowder without drawing attention to themselves?
How was the gunpowder moved across London from the Tower of London to Westminster (at least two miles distant) without anyone seeing it? The River Thames would not have been used as it could have lead to the gunpowder becoming damp and useless. Thirty six barrels would have been a sizeable quantity to move without causing suspicion.
Why were men who were known to be Catholics allowed to rent out a house so near to the Houses of Parliament?
How did they move 36 barrels from that house to the cellar of the Houses of Parliament without anyone noticing?
Why, for the first time in history, was there a search of Parliament's cellars that conveniently found Guy Fawkes.
Why was the soldier who killed Catesby and Percy at Holbeech House in the Midlands, given such a large pension for life (10p a day for life) when their arrest and torture was more desirable so that the names of any other conspirators might be found out?
Before 1991, Algeria had a 'corrupt and unpopular dictatorship'. In 1991 the Islamic Party known as FIS won a landslide in the country's first FREE multiparty elections.
Many moderate people had turned to the FIS because they were fed up with the corrupt regime which had held power for so long.
The USA was not happy about FIS; and the corrupt Algerian elite were not happy.
So the army took over.
Then the killings began.
More than 100,000 people have died.
But is it the Moslem extremists who are causing all the problems?
In February 2001, 'The Dirty War', by Habib Souaidia, a former Algerian army officer, was published.
It tells of the part played by the Algerian army in the killing of tens of thousands of Algerians.
Habib writes:
"I have seen colleagues burn alive a 15-year-old child.
"I have seen soldiers disguising themselves as terrorists and massacring civilians.
"I have seen colonels kill mere suspects in cold blood.
"I have seen officers torture fundamentalists to death...."
~~~~~
Robert Fisk in The Independent, January 1998, wrote about killings in certain villages in Algeria.
Many of the dead were women and children; some were burned alive; some were decapitated or disembowelled.
The villagers at Ouled Sahnine, Kherarba, El Abadel and Ouled Tayeb were Islamists and had voted in the 1991 elections for the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) .
The killers used knives, wire and portable guillotines to butcher civilians.
Whole families were herded into 'killing rooms' to have their throats cut, with shovels as well as knives. .
The affair began with Algerian Muhammad Meguerba.
Meguerba was the person who first told the police there was a ricin plot.
Meguerba was the person who, according to Bourgass, had wanted to get hold of a recipe for ricin, to be used against terrorists who had been attacking villages back in Algeria.
Bourgass said in court: "I wrote it (the ricin recipe) in accordance with a request by this man Meguerba."
Meguerba was the person who led the police to Algerian Kamel Bourgass.
Meguerba was able to skip bail and return to his native Algeria.
Meguerba was a police informant, according to defence lawyers throughout the ricin trial.
Bourgass said he had been a police officer in Algeria.
Was the Ricin plot organised by the security services of a certain country?
The Algerian security services, who are said to be close to the CIA, are reported to have alerted the British police to the ricin plot.

UK terror trial finds no terror.
The world was told that ricin had been found in a London flat. The story was untrue.
http://www.globalsecurity.org/org/nsn/nsn-050411.htm
George Smith, Ph.D., Senior Fellow, GlobalSecurity.Org has written that the UK terror trial found no terror.
The jury found "the UK poison cell," known as Kamel Bourgas and others (Sidali Faddag, Samir Asli, Mouloud Bouhrama, Mustapha Taleb, Mouloud Sihali, Aissa Kalef), not guilty of conspiracy to murder by plotting ricin attacks.
Kamel Bourgas had been previously convicted of murder of a British policeman in an unpublicized trial.
Two days after the January 5th search of the Wood Green "poison cell" flat, and well before the outbreak of war with Iraq, the chief scientist advising British anti-terrorism authorities, Martin Pearce found that there was no trace of ricin at the flat.
However, an employee at Porton Down claimed, wrongly, that ricin had indeed been detected.
At the time of Colin Powell's presentation to the UN Security Council, experts within the UK government surely knew that no ricin had been recovered.
The Raid:
British anti-terrorist branch men swooped down on suspected terrorists in the north and east of London in September of 2002 and January of 2003.
Several suspected terrorists were arrested. One at Wood Green, others connected to a raid at the Finsbury Park mosque and one, Kamel Bourgas, a week later, in Manchester. Bourgas stabbed and killed a police officer in the Manchester raid. At the apartment in Wood Green - a "residue of ricin" was said to have been found. "A presumed al-Qaeda terror lab had been shut down."
The alleged existence of ricin and "the UK poison cell" in January 2003 played a part of Colin Powell's presentation as an excuse for war against Iraq.
Hundreds of news articles appeared on the Wood Green terrorists. Perhaps some of these men had been connected with terrorists training in the Pankisi gorge. Maybe the ricin was going to be used in a subway attack.
GlobalSecurity learnt that none of this was true. There was no ricin. And no other poisons were detected. No capability was exhibited to be in the hands of the defendants.
The findings at the flat at Wood Green:
GlobalSecurity.Org lists the findings and materials found at the Wood Green flat.
These included:
A coffee grinder. It did contain a bit of brown powder. The defendants apparently drank coffee.
In fact, no traces of biological or chemical weapons were detected in the apartment.
Martin Pearce, the Porton Down scientist who accompanied the anti-terrorism team on the Wood Green raid noted items of potential interest to include toiletries...
Twenty-two intact castor seeds were recovered. Spice was also seized, a jar of kalonji black onion seed.
The "UK poison cell" defendants were on trial for six months. There were 90 arrests. Nine people were charged and none have been convicted. Kamel Bourgas was justifiably convicted of a murder of a police officer during the raid in which he was taken into custody.
There was no UK poison cell linked to al Qaida or Muhamad al Zarqawi. There was no ricin with which to poison London. There was no one who even knew how to purify ricin.
Duncan Campbell, expert witness and scientist for the defense in the trial, helped put together the globalsecurity report.

Questions over ricin conspiracy.
Kamel Bourgass has been convicted of a plot to spread ricin and other poisons on the streets of Britain. A number of other men were cleared last week of taking part in a conspiracy. A second trial has been abandoned.
Police raided a flat in a north London suburb on 5 January 2003.
Soon the newspapers were full of stories about ricin.
There was mention of al-Qaeda.
A police officer was stabbed to death during a raid on a flat in Manchester a few days later.
In February 2003 Colin Powell said: "When the British unearthed a cell there just last month, one British police officer was murdered during the disruption of the cell."
According to the BBC: "The situation was never as black-and-white as those initial media reports suggested."
No ricin was actually found at the flat in 352B High Road or at any of the defendants' other addresses.
Police reportedly found, in another flat in north London, a CD-Rom showing how to make bombs "in the furtherance of the jihad".
Despite rumours there was no evidence of a plot to poison Tube passengers.
It was claimed that between January 2002 and the date of their arrest Bourgass and other north Africans were involved in a conspiracy.
One north African, Mohamed Meguerba, jumped bail and allegedly went back to Algeria.
Defence lawyers claimed throughout the trial that Meguerba was a police informant.
Marguerite Russell, representing David Khalef, told the jury they were bound to be influenced by the "daily diet of terrorism, asylum-seekers and immigration" which had been on TV, radio and in the newspapers in the last two years.
She said her client worked in a pork factory, which suggested he was not an extreme Islamic fundamentalist.
"The prosecution haven't called one word of evidence about Khalef or his lifestyle to suggest he is the kind of man who would take part in this conspiracy.

Iraq spin prior to UK election

Today a bomb blew up near the oil city of Kirkuk as a group of Iraqi guards was trying to defuse it, killing nine and wounding four, the local police chief said.
In Baghdad there was a series of explosions, including a bomb that struck an oil tanker. Another bomb detonated on the road to the airport, wounding seven Iraqis....

Jonathan Steele, in the Guardian April 13 2005, warns us not to be fooled by the lies on Iraq.
Steele reminds us that recently 300,000 Iraqis threw down effigies of Bush and Blair at a rally that called for the immediate departure of foreign troops.
Iraqis have been angered :
1. by the failure to get power and water supplies repaired,
2. the brutality of US army tactics (over 100,000 Iraqi civilians killed since the invasion)
3. the disappearance of their country's oil revenues into inadequately supervised accounts, or handed to foreigners under contracts that produced no benefits for Iraqis.
The number of "security detainees" has reached a record 17,000.
Most of western Iraq is out of US control.
The city of Mosul 'could explode at any moment'.
Ramadi 'is practically a no-go area'.
The US is only talking of a possible reduction of a third of its troops next year. This will still leave 100,000.
The US has indicated that it wants permanent bases in Iraq, just as it does in Afghanistan.

Economic Tsunami
http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/story/0,3604,1456691,00.html
First, the UK:
Ashley Seager, in the Guardian 11 April 05, points out that in the UK:
Consumer spending is slumping
the housing market is fragile
oil prices are at a record high
tax rises looking increasingly necessary.
Car sales were down 15% in the first quarter of this year from a year earlier.
Mortgage lending has tumbled more than 30% .
The consumer is weighed down by £1 trillion of debt.
Take-home pay stopped growing two years ago.
There have been successive large council tax rises and increases in electricity and gas bills.
Second, the USA:
http://www.counterpunch.org/whitney04082005.html
MIKE WHITNEY, in counterpunch, has recently written about the coming Economic Tsunami
"If the world's central bankers accumulate fewer dollars, the result would be an unrelenting American need to borrow in the face of an ever weaker dollar - a recipe for higher interest rates and higher prices. The economic repercussions could unfold gradually, resulting in a long, slow decline in living standards. Or there could be a quick unraveling, with the hallmarks of an uncontrolled fiscal crisis."
New York Times editorial 4-2-05
According to Whitney, "the economic tsunami planned by the Bush administration is probably only months away."
In just 5 years the national debt has increased by nearly 3 trillion dollars.
The dollar has fallen 38% since Bush took office.
Laws have been passed (Patriot Act, Intelligence Reform Bill, Homeland Security Bill, National ID, Passport requirements etc) which can be used to control people 'when the economy takes its inevitable nosedive'.
Acording to Whitney, Iran is to bombed in June, and this is an added complication.
Whitnet argues that the USA has been intentionally plundered and will eventually wind up in the hands of its creditors.
This same scheme has been carried out repeatedly by the IMF and World Bank throughout the world; Argentina being the last example.
Bankruptcy will allow public assets and resources to be handed over to financial elites /cronies.
Whitney points out that Paul Wolfowitz of the World Bank may supervise the process.
Middle class Americans will face:
tax reform,
fiscal discipline,
deregulation,
free capital flows,
lowered tariffs,
reduced public services,
and privatization.
Whitney argues the USA will become a society entirely designed to service the needs of corporations.
Whitney writes that if the major oil producers convert from the dollar to the euro, "the American economy will sink almost overnight.
"If oil is traded in euros then central banks around the world would be compelled to follow and America will be required to pay off its enormous $8 trillion debt.
"That, of course, would be doomsday for the American economy."
But, a recent report indicates that two-thirds of the world's 65 central banks have already "begun to move from dollars to euros."

"When the time comes for the next attack - and as I've said before I think it will be Syria and Lebanon rather than Iran - there will be a 'terrorist' attack against a top American official - probably someone without the requisite subservient attitude towards Israel - which will immediately be blamed by the Bush Administration on "(obviously) Iranian-supported terrorists" (substitute 'Syrian-supported' if the neocon plan is to go after Syria). Of course, the attack could also be against Americans generally, following the model of September 11. In any event, it is impossible to conceive that it would be politically possible for Bush to set out on another illegal attack without opening another can of whoop ass on the American people. Sadly, another quick 'terrorist' attack, with an equally quick FBI report that it was the work of (obviously) Iranian-supported terrorists, would work just as well as September 11 worked (September 11 as Pearl, or Perle, Harbor), and anyone who questions the obviousness of it will be labeled a crazy conspiracy theorist."

UK - Conservatives unlikely to win?
Imagine this scenario:
LABOUR 34% of the vote - 300 seats
CONSERVATIVES 39% of the vote - 271 seats
LIBERAL DEMOCRATS 22% - 46 seats
RESULT Hung Parliament ? Labour short by 23 seats
This scenario does not look very likely at present.
~~~~~~~~
According to recent polls:
Labour's share of the vote has fallen from 45% in 2001 to 37% now.
The Conservative share has fallen from 39% to 35%.
The Liberal Democrat share of the vote is up, but not dramatically.
In the most marginal seats the Conservative vote is down from 45% in 2001 to 43% now.
The Conservatives might win only a handful of Labour seats.
The Liberal Democrats might gain a handful of Labour seats and the SNP gain 1 Labour seat.
The Liberal Democrats may gain a number of seats from the Conservatives.
A Conservative victory does not look too likely unless there is a big increase in the Conservative vote.
~~~~~~~~~
Some of the bookies are suggesting:
Labour will get around 352 seats
Conservatives 203 seats
Liberal Democrats 67 seats
SNP 5-6 seats
PC 4.5-5: DUP 7.7-8.2: SF 4.3-4.8: UUP 2.8 - 3.3: SDLP 1.8 -2.3

An Oligarch and the UK election

Rupert Murdoch's Sun newspaper has had a "cut-out-and-keep election decider."

The section on crime pointed out that Labour was basing its case on flawed statistics.

Rupert Murdoch has not consummated his flirtation with Michael Howard. No Tory leader since Margaret Thatcher has been wooed in the same way as Mr Howard, who was invited to address the News Corporation annual jamboree in Cancun, Mexico.

Henry Ford said: "If after having elected their man or group, obedience is not rendered to the Jewish control, then you speedily hear of 'scandals' and 'investigations' and 'impeachments' for the removal of the disobedient. Usually a man with a 'past' proves the most obedient instrument, but even a good man can often be tangled up in campaign practices that compromise him. Opus Dei and John Paul II

According to the Guardian, "a dark-horse candidate for pope, capable of bridging the divide between the Europeans and the Latin American Roman Catholic cardinals, appears to be emerging in the shape of the Patriarch of Portugal, Jose da Cruz Policarpo." Policarpo is thought to be relatively moderate.

In Counterpunch, VICENTE NAVARRO writes that John Paul II "was groomed for the Papacy... by the ultra-right-wing sect Opus Dei.... Opus Dei... developed the strategy to make him the Pope, assisted by the bishop of Munich, Joseph Ratzinger; the U.S. cardinals close to Opus Dei, Joseph Krol and Patrick Cody; and a cardinal then close to Opus Dei, Cardinal Franz König from Vienna...
John Paul II made Opus Dei member, Angelo Sodano, Secretary of State of the Vatican.
The Spanish Daily El Periodico (5 April 2005) reported that the Pope received periodical reports from U.S. CIA Director William Casey (a Roman Catholic) on the "distressing" Jesuit movements in Latin America.
In Spain, John Paul supported the post-Francoist party, the Popular Party (whose founder is Fraga Iribarne, ex-Minister of the Interior of the Franco fascist regime).
John Paul gave a speech against the Zapatero government.

Lockerbie Bomb and Ecuador and New Zealand
Former CIA agent Philip Agee wrote 'Inside the Company: CIA Diary' (New York, 1975).
Agee wrote that, in Ecuador, almost all political organizations were infiltrated by the CIA, often at the highest levels.
Agee explained that in Ecuador Various CIA front organisations were set up. These spewed out propaganda. A well-known personality would deliver a speech prepared by the CIA, and then a newspaper editor, or a well-known columnist, would praise it, both gentlemen being on the CIA payroll.
Union leaders were taken over by the CIA.
In virtually every department of the Ecuadorean government there were people working for the CIA.
At one point, the Agency could count amongst this number the men who were second and third in power in the country.
CIA agents would bomb churches or right-wing organizations and make it appear to be the work of leftists.
They would march in left-wing parades displaying signs and shouting slogans of a very provocative anti-military nature.
What happens in Ecuador seemingly happens in Scotland and England.

Remember the Lockerbie Bomb?
An internal investigation by Pan Am is believed to have found that the bomb planted on Flight 103 was NOT put on the plane in Malta.
The Pan Am report is believed to have concluded that the bomb was not aimed at the killing of Americans in general, but was targeted specifically to kill a small band of DIA operatives that had uncovered a drugs ring run by a CIA unit in Lebanon.
The drugs-ring is said to have been set up by Israeli Mossad agents.
~~~~~
Why do some Scots believe that justice was done at the Lockerbie bomb trial? Because they have been deceived by the CIA.
LOCKERBIE - There were many advance warnings that a bomb was going to be placed on a US aircraft at Frankfurt airport.
For example, on 5 December 1988, the US Embassy in Helsinki had a telephone warning that "within the next two weeks" an attempt would be made to place a bomb aboard a Pan Am flight from Frankfurt to New York. On 18 december 1988 the German BKA was tipped off about a bomb plot against Pan Am 103 in the next two or three days.
Pan Am Flight 103 hit Lockerbie on 21 December 1988.
On that flight "were at least 2 US Intelligence agents and a Mr Khalid Nazir Jafaar."
The Dumfries and Galloway police began to investigate.
But for two days it was "difficult" for them to collect evidence as "CIA agents combed the countryside for the luggage of the dead American intelligence agents and a suitcase full of heroin.... 59 bodies were left lying around Lockerbie until 24 December... but by then there were only 58 bodies..." according to former DIA agent Lester Coleman
~~~~
The Lockerbie judges considered the evidence of Maltese shopkeeper Tony Gauci, who provided the only visual identification of al-Megrahi as having been the person who allegedly bought clothes that were found, or planted , at the crash site, and were thought to be in the same suitcase as the bomb.
Gauci’s evidence was upheld despite numerous discrepancies over the date, time, weather, which football matches were on the television and even whether or not Christmas decorations were up. Gauci had previously identified a member of a Palestinian group, Abu Talb, as being the person who 'bought the clothes'. Abu Talb does not look like al-Megrahi.

The Lockerbie Bomb trial suggested that something is going badly wrong in Scotland.
The Sunday Herald 08/04/2001 : "THE United Nations has savaged the Crown Office's handling of the Lockerbie trial claiming the outcome was rigged through the unfair suppression of evidence; it was politically influenced by the USA; and the court had no grounds to return a guilty verdict. Dr Hans Kochler, who was handpicked by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to act as the international observer during the trial in Holland, hinted that the trial was rigged, claimed the guilty verdict handed down in February to Abdelbasset Ali Mohamed Al Megrahi was "arbitrary" and "irrational" and gave his tacit support for an acquittal at the planned appeal."
23 May, 2000: It was revealed by sections of the Scottish press that the deputy director of the Lockerbie trial briefing unit at Glasgow University, Professor Andrew Fulton, was an MI6 intelligence officer. The unit was supposed to provide "impartial and objective" legal information about the trial and was much used by the TV news programmes. 24/05/00 THE SCOTSMAN: "Prof Fulton has been 'on holiday' since it was revealed that during his 30 year diplomatic career he was a key memberof the MI6 secret service in Europe, Asia and America."
~~~
Speaking after the Lockerbie Bomb trial, Dr Jim Swires, whose daughter, Flora, was killed in the explosion said, “We think there has been miscarriage of justice." Professor Robert Black, the lawyer who has worked closely with the relatives for many years and the architect of the trial process itself, also described the trial as a miscarriage of justice. He told the Scotsman, “We have not seen the end of this case... There is a hell of lot of more evidence that appeared neither at the trial or the appeal.”
In 1965 CIA boss Angleton, and President Johnson, decided to commission a report on Britain's secret services.
This report recommended sending more spies to Britain. It seemed that the CIA was going to treat Britain like Indonesia o r Pakistan. In order to ensure that there was an elite which would support US interests, the CIA would try to gain control of MI5 and MI6, use dirty tricks to get rid of anti-American politicians, and place pro-American puppets into positions of power.
In 1996, in the Guardian, Martin Kettle suggested that New Labour was all about Britain being in with the Americans.
In a talk to Labour Party branches in 1996, Robin Ramsay (Lobster Magazine) pointed out some interesting links between New labour and the USA- Jonathan Powell, Blair's top man in Downing Street, used to work in Britain's Washington embassy and is suspected by some of having been our spook liaising with the CIA.
The US encouraged large numbers of Labour MPs to take free trips to America (Israel also invited a large number of Labour MPs to Israel).
In 1986 Tony Blair went on a US-sponsored trip to America and came back a supporter of the nuclear deterrent.
In 1993 Blair attended a Bilderberg Group meeting (secretive right wing organisation) and not long afterwards became Labour leader.
Four of the Blair cabinet have been members of the Anglo-American elite group the British American Project. Three of the Blair cabinet have attended Bilderberg meetings.
Peter Mandelson become Chair of British Youth Council which began as the British section of the World Assembly of Youth, which was set up and financed by MI6 and then taken over by the CIA in the 1950s. By Mandelson's time in the mid1970s the British Youth Council was said to be financed by the Foreign Office or MI6. According to Ramsay, 'Peter Mandelson has been around MI6 since his early 20s'.
Old Labour is the domestic economy; New Labour is the overseas British economy. In other words, the multinationals, the City of London, and the Foreign Office which represents their interests.'
And the unions? According to Ramsay: "The CIA also ran the anti-communist international trade union movement, the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions, the ICFTU..By the mid 1950s nearly a quarter of the TUC's annual budget was going to the ICFTU, a CIA operation.
And the press? According to Ramsay, the security services may be planting disinformation in the media. "Tomlinson told us about the 20-strong I/Ops - Information Operations - unit in that shiny building on the Thames." And sometimes the information is confusing.
Ramsay writes: "does Gaddafi have Taiwanese Scuds (MI5 story planted in the Sunday Times) or North Korean missiles (MI6 story planted in the Sunday Telegraph.... The Sunday Times was a serious, respectable newspaper until Andrew Neil became its editor in the mid-1980s and turned it into a mouth-piece for MI5 and the MOD to run their rubbish through. The Sunday Telegraph shows all the signs of going down the same dangerous path."
It looks like the Anglo-American-Israeli elite are in charge.
Now here is an interesting quote about what may be happening: 'There has been a gradual erosion of civil liberties, an increase in the influence of the army, and an acceptance of corruption among public servants. Vast fortunes have been accumulated by a small group who use their wealth to control the Senate.'
That was a description of the Roman Empire, but it could equally be a description of the present-day Britain, or the US Empire or the former Soviet Empire. It is conspiracies from within, rather than conspiracies from without, which often lead to the collapse of empires.
In 1991, Paul Henderson, managing director of machine tools company Matrix Churchill, was in court facing a seven year jail sentence for selling to Iraq materials that could be used for military purposes. Government ministers tried to prevent the court from discovering the truth - that Paul Henderson had been working for the British government as a secret agent for 17 years. Eventually the truth about Henderson came out. But why had we been helping Iraq?
The July 29, 1991 issue of TIME MAGAZINE stated :"B.C.C.I. is the largest corporate criminal enterprise ever... the most pervasive money-laundering operation ...ever created for the likes of Manuel Noriega, Ferdinand Marcos, Saddam Hussein and the Columbian drugs lords."
B.C.C.I. Got into the U.S. banking industry by secretly buying the shares of First American Bank, whose chairman is Clark Clifford- a founder of the CIA.
According to sources, "B.C.C.I. was engaged in international bribery, blackmail, and assassination of government officials at the highest levels. The CIA used B.C.C.I. to facilitate funding of the Contras, illegal arms sales to Iran and Iraq as well as the arms supply to the Afghan resistance...
"B.C.C.I. maintained accounts for Contra leader Adolfo Calero and Sandanista leader, Daniel Ortega, as well as such disparate figures as Noriega, Saddam, Marcos, Adnan Khashoggi, the PLO, the Mossad and the governments of China, Argentina, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Peru."
The bank was seemingly financing both sides in a number of conflicts.
Who gained? The arms and drugs industries.
Cynics might say that wars help the ruling elites to stay in power.
And here are some strange 'facts' picked up from various sources:
The U.S. sold $50 billion dollars worth of weapons to Iraq before the first gulf war.
Libya was supplied with hundreds of Green Beret trainers and 42,000 lbs of C-4 plastic explosives prior to U.S. attacks on Libya.
The U.S financed the Kama River truck plant which produced the trucks for Russia's Afghanistan invasion and built the highways used by the Russian tanks.
The day General McArthur signed the peace treaty with Japan half the weapons stored on Okinawa were shipped to Ho Chi Minh and General Giap who met these shipments at the docks of Hai Phong harbor with Lucien Conein, the CIA case officer for Diem.
Jonathan Kwitny's book, The Crimes of Patriots, a True Tale of Dope, Dirty Money and the CIA, (Simon & Shuster 1987) is an expose of the alleged role of the CIA in the drugs business. Kwitny refers to the Nugan-Hand Bank- an Australian money laundering operation set up to facilitate Golden Triangle heroin trafficking. Major officers of the bank "included Admiral Buddy Yates (President), General Erle thingye, General Edwin Black, General LeRoy Manor, and ex-CIA Director, William Colby with other CIA affiliated persons too numerous to mention."
That was the story from New Zealand's Independent newspapers Ltd on 27 March 2002.
Former US vice-president Dan Quayle reportedly told the Australian Cabinet that David lange, New Zealand Prime Minister from 1984-89, "would have to be liquidated."
Mr Lange made the claim in a television interview about the pressure put on him over New Zealand's anti-nuclear stance during his time as prime minister.
"There were personal pressures," he said. "There were veiled threats. There were specific threats. There were threats made to other countries. (It) was announced to the Australian Cabinet at one stage that I would have to be liquidated."
He said the announcement had been made by Mr Quayle during a visit to Australia in 1989.
Their Kingdom Come: Inside the Secret World of Opus Dei, written by Robert Hutchison claims that Opus Dei were active in Chile through the Institute for General Studies which the CIA financed at the direction of President Nixon. It was that Institute that allegedly planned the coup against Allende by General Pinochet in 1973.
Not only did Pinochet have Opus Dei ministers in his regime, but also his foreign minister was later identified as a CIA agent by the LosAngeles Times, as reported by Penny Lernoux in her book, People of God.
Opus Dei has welcomed the election of Joseph Ratzinger as Pope.
"This is a time of great joy," Opus Dei's prelate, Bishop Javier Echevarria, said in a statement pledging support for the new pontiff.
In July 2000, Mark Belnick, top lawyer at Tyco International Ltd., received a $2 million payment toward a $12 million bonus.
Prosecutors said that payment bought Mr. Belnick's silence about the looting of Tyco.
Mr. Belnick, formerly an observant Jew, had converted to Catholicism and become an active supporter of Opus Dei
5% swing from Labour to the Scottish National Party
Alex Salmond MP, Leader Scottish National Party:
"There have been four polls published in Scotland, bona fide polls... they show rising SNP support and one was published this week with a sample of double the MORI poll, showed a 5% swing from Labour to the SNP."
The Anglo-American elite will now try hard:
(1) to persuade people that the SNP are going to perform badly
(2) that the Scots are the only small nation in Europe that is too stupid to govern its own affairs
(3) to fix the polls.
Why is the establishment so keen to prevent Scotland from becoming independent and rich like its neighbours, Ireland, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland?
1. Scotland has oil.
2. Scotland has important military bases.
Faslane has the UK's Trident nuclear submarines.
Lossiemouth is the biggest UK base for tornado jet fighters.
Luce Bay is the testing site for cluster bombs.
Dundrennan is the open air depleted uranium testing site.
There are many communications and intelligence stations.
Luxembourg, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Belgium, Ireland, Austria and the Netherlands are the richest countries in Europe (GNP per person). All these countries are small and independent.
Scotland can be as wealthy as these small countries if it gains its independence.
Scotland will be a highly prosperous nation if it has:
1. a low corporation tax
2. low business rates
3. an oil fund.
Scotland has many advantages:
1. It is a technologically advanced country
2. It has an ingenious and hard working population
3. It has a high level of social cohesion.
Scottish businesses, Scottish businessmen, and Scottish scientists are often world leaders.
Scholars have traced the beginnings of modern psychology, anthropology, the earth sciences and ideas on civil society and liberal education to Scottish thinkers.
Singapore was once a poor, third-world region. After gaining independence it grew rich.
Ireland was once a high unemployment, high debt, high emigration, low growth, little opportunity state. Now that Ireland is independent, and has introduced a low tax policy, there has been a huge increase in wealth, energy, enterprise, self-confidence, and employment.
In the past many Scots were brainwashed by the foreign-owned press into thinking that they were the only people in the world who were too stupid to be able to govern themselves.
A growing number of Scots are wakening up to the fact that small countries, like Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Estonia, become wealthier and happier when they gain their independence.
The elite are probably going to try to fix the polls?
Bohemian Grove and Paul Bonacci
"The ..... film that Thompson allegedly made with Paul Bonacci is believed, based on Bonacci's description of the surroundings, to have been filmed at Bohemian Grove, a summer camp of sorts for the rich and powerful. Bohemian Grove is a secluded area outside Sacramento, Calif., where world leaders and dignitaries meet annually for a retreat that involves neo-pagan activities, including mock human sacrifices made before a large Owl statue referred to as "Moloch." The Congo and Israel
http://www.jewishsf.com/bk010803/ip41a.shtml
JESSICA STEINBERG, of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, has written about changes in the diamond business.
Steinberg notes that Israel sells 50 percent of all the stones worldwide.
95 percent of the world's rough diamonds are marketed by the De Beers Group.
Most of the rough diamonds come from Africa - often from Angola, Sierra Leone and Congo - where rebel movements finance their wars by selling diamonds.
Not so long ago, the Congo appointed IDI Diamonds, an Israel company, as the sole purchaser of all its uncut diamonds.
Then the Congo's President, Laurent Kabila, was assassinated. His son Joseph took over. The Congo suddenly revoked IDI's monopoly over diamond exports.
A United Nations report had called the IDI deal a disaster, saying IDI had paid too little. The deal had also driven much of the Congo's diamond trade underground.
IDI's deal allegedly included getting Israeli military experts to train a Congolese force.
Israel has been accused of involvement with the Congolese rebel movement.
DR Congo has had a five-year war; three million died, mostly through starvation, disease.
Eastern regions are still plagued by militia violence
In the five-year war, government forces, supported by Angola, Namibia and Zimbabwe, fought against rebels backed by Uganda and Rwanda.
Fighting was fuelled by the country's vast mineral wealth.
Yitzhak Danon of Globes (Israel) has written about a lawsuit which claims there was corruption in a Congo diamonds for arms deal.
A former Anti-Terrorism Unit officer alleges senior Israeli military, business, and political figures were involved.
The lawsuit alleges that Dan Gertler asked a former president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) for a diamond mining franchise.
Britain and 9 11 : Sir David Manning was in Washington on 9 11
John Scarlett took over as chairman of the UK's Joint Intelligence Committee a few days before 9 11.
On 31 July the Times disclosed that Sir David Manning was in the United States on Sept 11.
The Guardian described Manning as Britain's 'national security adviser' ".
The BBC said that Manning was "head of the cabinet office defence and overseas secretariat" and was already "well known and respected in the White House".
Manning, like Jack Straw, is believed to be of Jewish origin.
Manning met with Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage on September 10th.
Armitage allegedly has been involved in covert operations with the CIA, 'including illegal arms and drug running on behalf of the US government'.
A report by the US National Bureau of Asian Research cites an article in the Washington Times 28 July 1997 which lists Armitage, along with Dick Cheney, as having business or consulting interests in the Caspian zone.
General Mahmoud, the head of Pakistan's intelligence services, the ISI, 'happened' (according to the BBC) to be in Washington at the same time as Sir David Manning.
The head of the ISI is a Pakistani appointment which, by treaty, requires the approval of the CIA. In effect the post is a CIA appointment.
According to the Times of India 9 October, Mahmoud had ordered Ahmad Omar Sheikh to send $100,000 to Mohammad Atta, sometime prior to 9 11.
Mahmoud was meeting with the CIA and senior members of the Bush administration immediately before, during and after the 9 11 attacks.
As the Times of India put it: "A direct link between the ISI and the WTC attacks could have enormous repercussions."
The Mail on Sunday 14 October 2001 confirms that: "Condoleeza Rice, a key member of the Bush war cabinet, is in regular contact with Sir David Manning, Blair's National Security Adviser.... It is Manning, Campbell and Blair's chief of staff, Jonathan Powell, who are seen as the Prime Minister's real war cabinet."
Who to vote for in the UK
9 11 was almost certainly the work of fascist elements within western governments and was not the work of the people of Afghanistan. http://aangirfan.blogspot.com/2005/03/9-11.html
After 9 11, the majority of UK members of parliament voted to bomb Afghanistan and could possibly be described as 'war criminals'?
On 2 November 2001, a total of 13 MPs voted against the war in Afghanistan. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/1631501.stm
Welsh and Scottish nationalists joined with the the following Labour rebels for the vote against the war:
Diane Abbott
Jeremy Corbyn
Tam Dalyell
George Galloway
Lynne Jones
Bob Marshall-Andrews
lan Simpson
Mike Wood
A further four MPs, three Labour and one Plaid Cymru, who acted as tellers in the vote, also opposed the government.
Brian Sedgemore attacked Prime Minister Tony Blair's tone in talking about the action.
"He should stop being so damned preachy about the alleged moral superiority of this backward, fractious island of ours off the coast of north west Europe whose culture sometimes seems to me to be close to irreversible decline."
Shadow defence secretary Bernard Jenkin stressed the full support of the Conservatives for the military action.
He could have been toppled without a war, just as CIA assets Marcos and Suharto were toppled without a war. The US intention in Iraq sems to be 1. to make lots of money by having a war 2. to control the oil 3. to set up military bases 4. to make Iraq as divided and weak as possible.
Which MPs voted on the rebel amendment saying there was no moral case for war against Iraq? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/2862397.stm
139 Labour MPs rebelled against the government's line and supported the amendment.
15 Tory MPs also defied their leadership by voting against the government's policy.
All 53 Liberal Democrat MPs voted against the government - in line with their leadership.
After 9 11, the majority of UK members of parliament voted to bomb Afghanistan and could possibly be described as 'war criminals'?
"He should stop being so damned preachy about the alleged moral superiority of this backward, fractious island of ours off the coast of north west Europe whose culture sometimes seems to me to be close to irreversible decline."
Shadow defence secretary Bernard Jenkin stressed the full support of the Conservatives for the military action.
Saddam Hussein, as an asset of the CIA, was put into power by the CIA.
He could have been toppled without a war, just as CIA assets Marcos and Suharto were toppled without a war. The US intention in Iraq sems to be 1. to make lots of money by having a war 2. to control the oil 3. to set up military bases 4. to make Iraq as divided and weak as possible.
Which MPs voted on the rebel amendment saying there was no moral case for war against Iraq? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/2862397.stm
139 Labour MPs rebelled against the government's line and supported the amendment.
15 Tory MPs also defied their leadership by voting against the government's policy.
Cuba & Venezuela face the US and Colombia
http://www.counterpunch.org/
JAMES PETRAS recently wrote in Counterpunch about the US strategy towards Cuba
According to Petras, the US aims to deal with Cuba by:
1. overthrowing Chavez in Venezuela
2. cutting off the energy and trade links which Venezuela has to Cuba
3. carrying out a military attack.
The US strategy could involve a US-Colombian attack of Venezuela backed by internal terrorists and the ruling class.
According to Petras:
1. Washington and Colombia have greatly strengthened military bases surrounding the Venezuelan border.
2. "Trial military incursions involving both Colombian military and paramilitary forces have occurred on a regular basis testing Venezuelan defenses".
3. The US has given nearly $3 billion dollars in military aid to Colombia.
4. Washington has:
A. recruited the Gutierrez regime in Ecuador,
B. invaded Haiti,
C. set up military bases in Peru and the Dominican Republic.
According to Petras, the US aims to use a "triangular strategy" to overthrow Chavez in Venezuela:
1. A military invasion from Colombia,
2. US intervention (air and sea attacks plus special forces to assassinate key officials)
3. An internal uprising by infiltrated terrorists and military traitors, supported by key media, financial and petrol elites.
Petras argues that:
1. the Chavez regime is popular with the mass of the people.
2. The Colombian regime faces 20,000 veteran guerrilla fighters and millions of Colombians sympathetic to Venezuela.
James Petras is a former Professor of Sociology at Binghamton University
The US strategy could involve a US-Colombian attack of Venezuela backed by internal terrorists and the ruling class.
According to Petras:
1. Washington and Colombia have greatly strengthened military bases surrounding the Venezuelan border.
2. "Trial military incursions involving both Colombian military and paramilitary forces have occurred on a regular basis testing Venezuelan defenses".
3. The US has given nearly $3 billion dollars in military aid to Colombia.
4. Washington has:
A. recruited the Gutierrez regime in Ecuador,
B. invaded Haiti,
C. set up military bases in Peru and the Dominican Republic.
According to Petras, the US aims to use a "triangular strategy" to overthrow Chavez in Venezuela:
1. A military invasion from Colombia,
2. US intervention (air and sea attacks plus special forces to assassinate key officials)
3. An internal uprising by infiltrated terrorists and military traitors, supported by key media, financial and petrol elites.
Petras argues that:
1. the Chavez regime is popular with the mass of the people.
2. The Colombian regime faces 20,000 veteran guerrilla fighters and millions of Colombians sympathetic to Venezuela.
James Petras is a former Professor of Sociology at Binghamton University
http://observer.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,6903,1441814,00.html
Philip Willan and Antony Barnett, March 20 2005, in the Observer, wrote about how David Mills, the husband of cabinet minister Tessa Jowell, has been accused of misleading Italian investigators and destroying documents in order to obstruct an inquiry into the business affairs of Silvio Berlusconi.
According to court documents, international lawyer David Mills allegedly played a key role in the creation and administration of a network of offshore companies that were at the heart of the fraud.
Mills is accused of suspected tax fraud and money laundering.
POOR GET POORER IN UK
http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=352502005
BRITAIN’s poorest 10% of families are growing poorer, according to official figures: a 357-page Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) document.
The real income of the poorest -
£91 per week in 2001-02
£88 by April 2004.
The study shows that the total income of the poorest 10% was:
3% of the UK total in 1997-98
2.8% in 2003-04.
The DWP data shows that the poorest 10% have consistently suffered since Labour came to power in 1997, with their income falling in most of the past seven years.
A recent report by the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) suggesting that the average British household had seen a slide in income for the first time since the recession of the early 1990s.
BRITAIN’S richest people have had a £150 billion increase in wealth since Tony Blair came to power, according to The Sunday Times Rich List .
The rise in wealth among the country’s richest 1,000 people — from £99 billion in 1997 to £250 billion this year — is a 152% increase.
The country’s tichest 50 people increased their wealth by 29.7% last year.
Some of the biggest winners are those who have given money to the Labour Party, such as Lord Drayson, who made his fortune from pharmaceuticals.
David Leigh and Rob Evans, in the 29 June 2004 Guardian, reported:
Lord Drayson made an estimated £20m for his company Powderject from the government's hasty purchase of smallpox vaccine in the wake of the 'terrorist' attacks on September 11 2001.
Documents show how Lord Drayson gained a crucial early advantage in winning the contract by securing a deal with the only manufacturer able to supply the vaccine quickly.
"Lord Drayson gave a second £50,000 donation to the Labour party while the government was deciding who should be handed the contract. He was also invited to a private Downing Street breakfast on December 6 2001 for a small group of businessmen, just as Whitehall officials were deciding they would go ahead and opt for one particular type of vaccine, the Lister strain."
The Lister strain has been used (since 1996) by the Israeli government to protect their armed forces.
It was recently revealed (Robin Ramsay’s The Rise of New Labour) that when Blair became a candidate for the leadership of the Labour Party in 1994, Gideon Meir, a senior official at the Israeli Embassy in London, introduced him to Michael Levy (an extremely wealthy Jewish businessmen). Levy agreed to help Blair to become leader of the party. Levy, with the help of four other Jewish businessmen (Sir Emmanuel Kaye, Sir Trevor Chinn, Maurice Hatter, and David Goldman) provided Blair with £7m. This paid for his campaign plus the running of his private office. This money allowed Blair to become independent of Labour Party funding.
Cardinal Schoenborn and Zionism
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1112152825625
http://www.rense.com/general63/papl.htm
Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn is the Archbishop of Vienna.
The Jerusalem Post, 1 April 2005, claims that Schoenborn "delivered a strong message in favour of Jewish settlement in the Holy Land on Wednesday night, rejecting the claim that European Christians' support for the State of Israel is based on Holocaust guilt and saying that all Christians should affirm Zionism as a biblical imperative for the Jewish people."
Archbishop of Vienna Cardinal Schoenborn was speaking at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem on the topic of "God's chosen land."
Schoenborn said: "Only once in human history did God take a country as an inheritance and give it to His chosen people," Christians, Schoenborn said, should rejoice in the return of Jews to the Holy Land as the fulfillment of biblical prophecy.
(One assumes this Jerusalem Post story was not an April Fool joke)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,3604,1450759,00.html
Christoph Schönborn, 60, is from an upper class Bohemian family. John Paul II got him to prepare the document that sets out the church's official teaching.
He had to handle a scandal involving his predecessor, Cardinal Hans Hermann Groer, who was accused of paedophilia.
He is not popular in Austria, where he has been accused of 'being shifty and evasive in personal dealings'. His health is suspect.
(The Cardinal Groer scandal began in 1998 when a former seminary student said Groer, his religion instructor, had abused him repeatedly in the early 1970s. The student said he decided to go public after hearing Groer declare that those who abuse children would not "inherit heaven.' Other former students at the all-male high school at Hollabrunn, 40 miles north of Vienna, came forward with similar charges. State prosecutors never became involved because the statute of limitations for sexual abuse of a minor had long since expired.)
Kyrgyzstan, drugs and the CIA
Kyrgyzstan has oil, gas and heroin.
Reportedly, in 2005, the USA helped topple Kyrgyzstan's president Akayev.
John Laughland, in the Guardian April 1, 2005, wrote about US-backed coups in the former USSR and the mythology of people power.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,3604,1449869,00.html
President Askar Akayev of Kyrgyzstan has attacked:
1. The "prevailing influence" of the US in the "anti-constitutional coup" which overthrew him.
2. Those who are stirring up trouble in the drug-ridden Ferghana Valley.
3. The criminal "third force", linked to the drug mafia, which is struggling to gain power.
The term 'third force' was used to describe covert operatives shoring up apartheid in South Africa. It may also remind people of US-backed coups in Central America and former soviet republics.
Michael Kozak, former US ambassador to Belarus, boasted that he was doing in Belarus exactly what he had been doing in Nicaragua: "supporting democracy".
In Kyrgyzstan, US ambassador Stephen Young, has denied government claims that the US is interfering in Kyrgyzstan's internal affairs.
Kyrgyzstan is the largest recipient of US aid in central Asia and it is filled with "American-sponsored NGOs". In previous years it invited in the US military.
Freedom House, chaired by former CIA director James Woolsey, was a major sponsor of the orange revolution in Ukraine.
Freedom House set up a printing press in Kyrgyzstan in November 2003, which prints 60 opposition journals. The US also supports opposition radio and TV.
In Kyrgyzstan a key element in regime change was played by members of the Kyrgyz security services, 'whose loyalty is easily bought'.
The US has strategic interests in Kyrgyzstan.
Freedom House is reportedly friendly with the Islamist fundamentalist movement Hizb ut-Tahrir. This worries the Chinese who have Muslim unrest in their western provinces.
Akayev was seen as being a friend of the US. But he was toppled when 'things went wrong'.
John Laughland is a trustee of http://www.oscewatch.org/ and an associate of http://www.sandersresearch.com/
