Bin Laden checked into the American Hospital Dubai, a 100-bed, acute-care general hospital, July 4 and stayed until July 14.
He arrived from Quetta, Pakistan, accompanied by his personal doctor and a close aide - possibly Ayman el Zawahiri, a leader of Egypt's Islamic Jihad, now bin Laden's right hand man, the newspaper said.
Le Figaro cited a "professional partner" linked to the hospital's management as its source.
Besides a stream of local dignitaries and family members, bin Laden's visitors included a local CIA agent, the newspaper reported. The agent was widely recognized locally, Le Figaro said, and later told several friends of the meeting.
The alleged American spy was called back to the CIA's McLean, Va., headquarters July 15 - a day after bin Laden checked out, Le Figaro reported, citing "authorized sources."

The role of Pakistan Military Intelligence in terror around the world, from Bali to Bombay to London to New York.
Pakistan's Intelligence agency reportedly has links to terror incidents in Bali, Bombay, New York and London.
And the CIA and MI6 appear to have close links to the Pakistan Intelligence agency.

While actively collaborating with the British police investigation, Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) is known to have supported and financed a number of "Islamic terror groups" including Al Qaeda.
In fact the terrorist training camps in Pakistan and Afghanistan were set up in the early 1980s with the support of the ISI and the CIA.
And the leaders of these various Islamic organizations were also indoctrinated in the ISI sponsored madrassas.
The ISI was instrumental in the creation of the militant Jammu and Kashmir Hizbul Mujahideen (JKHM) in the late 1980s.
Confirmed by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), it has also supported and provided financial assistance (during the entire post-Cold War era), to the two main Pakistan-based Kashmir rebel groups, Lashkar-e-Taiba, (Army of the Pure) and Jaish-e-Muhammad (Army of Mohammed), which claimed responsibility for the terror attack on the Indian parliament in October 2001.
According to the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR):

More recently, an Associated Press report suggested that Jaish-e-Mohammed was allegedly behind the Mumbai July 2006 train bombing that killed 190 people: "
[A] US official who spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity pointed to another group, Jaish-e-Mohammed, or Army of Mohammed, which is also affiliated with al-Qaeda, according to the Bush administration. Targeting trains at rush hour traffic is a tactic Jaish-e-Mohammed favors, the official said" (Associated Press Report quoted by Larry Chin, July 2006).
The ISI has also provided support to the Bangladeshi based Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami, the South East Asian Jemaah Islamiah (JI), the two main Chechen rebel factions, and other terrorist organizations.
The 2002 Bali attack in the Kuta seaside resort was allegedly perpetrated by Jemaah Islamiah, which had previously been supported by Pakistani Military Intelligence.
The Role of Pakistan's Military Intelligence in 9/11
On the 9th of September 2001, two days before 9/11, the charismatic leader of Afghanistan's Northern Alliance Commander Ahmad Shah Masood was assassinated in a suicide attack.
The Northern Alliance had informed the Bush Administration that Pakistani intelligence (ISI) was allegedly implicated in the assassination. (The Northern Alliance's statement was released on 14 September 2001, quoted in a Reuters report on 15 September 2001)
Moreover, according to several reports, Pakistan's ISI allegedly also played a role in supporting the presumed 9/11 terrorists.
Of particular significance is an FBI report leaked to ABC News in late September 2001:
"As to September 11th, federal authorities have told ABC News they have now tracked more than $100,000 from banks in Pakistan, to two banks in Florida, to accounts held by suspected hijack ring leader, Mohammed Atta. ... It's all part of what has been a successful FBI effort so far to close in on the hijacker's high commander, the money men, the planners and the mastermind." (Statement of Brian Ross reporting on information conveyed to him by the FBI, ABC News, This Week, September 30, 2001,. emphasis added)
The FBI report was corroborated by an official Indian intelligence document (apparently been dispatched to Washington), which was reported by Agence France Presse (AFP) and The Times of India.
These reports suggested that financial assistance to the 911 ringleader had been transferred on the orders of the Head of Pakistan's ISI:

Some of the contradictions underlying the recent role of the ISI, were addressed in a 2005 debate at the Nixon Center (7 July 2005), which was broadcast on C-Span:
Nikolas Guosdev: "You can see another one of these mainstream parties, Jammat-e- Ulama-e-Isam, which is ... linked to the main Kashmiri radical groups -- Lashkar-e- Jhangvi, Harakat-ul-Mujahedin -- which serves as a logistical -- which helps al Qaeda and the Taliban in the the tribal areas in Pakistan. Jaish-e-Muhammad, you can see all of that fits in.
The fingerprints of the ISI, by the way, are all over this. And the question, of course, is whether it is an institutional policy or if it is through personal connections and personal relationships.
Alexis Debat: "I agree with you that fingerprints can mean many things, and there is certainly several ways that the ISI has been in contact with -- officially or unofficially -- with these groups. What I was referring to is that these groups have been, and still are, at least for the majority of them, instrumentalized by the ISI in Baluchistan and in Kashmir, in Afghanistan, and there's considerable evidence that a lot of the trainers in Afghanistan in the 1990s were Pakistani -- retired Pakistani military officers, retired ISI." The Pakistan ISI - Scotland Yard Connection
Pakistan's ISI has a shady record of supporting terrorist organizations on the one hand while helping British police and intelligence officials on the on the other hand.
Was the ISI providing institutional support to the terror network or was this support carried out through complex personal links by so-called "rogue elements" within the ISI?
Has the ISI, under President Pervez Musharraf been duly reformed (as conveyed by the mainstream media), to undertake its new role of combating rather than supporting " Islamic terrorism"?
The evidence suggests that the ISI remains the core institutional architect (in liaison with the CIA) of the "Islamic terror network", from the Soviet-Afghan war to the present.
Recent Indian press reports (August 2, 2006) suggest that the ISI is still running the terrorist training camps:
"[A]s many as 52 [ISI] terrorist training camps are still functioning in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir." (Statesman News Service, Delhi, 2 August 2006)
Britain's Sunday Times (August 13, 2006) corroborates these damning reports, without, however, pointing fingers at the Home Office and Scotland Yard:
It was the ISI that turned the Taliban from a bunch of religious students into a movement that took over Afghanistan. According to Hamid Karzai, president of Afghanistan, ISI continues to provide a safe haven, training them to fight British soldiers in Helmand....
Pakistan's problem is that extremist organizations and training camps, such as those linked to the London bombers, were either created by, or supported and used by, ISI." (emphasis added)
The Sunday Times underscores yet another apparent "inconsistency" by revealing that the ISI is providing support to groups which are actually fighting British troops in Afghanistan.
What are the implications? What does this imply in relation to London Met's police investigation?
The London Police Anti-Terrorist Branch (SO13) headed by Peter Clarke together with MI6, the Secret Intelligence Service, and MI5, the Security Service (which operates under the authority of Home Secretary John Reid), are working hand in glove with a Pakistani based intelligence agency which has supported known terrorist organizations, while also collaborating with its Western counterparts "in going after the terrorists".
The facts speak for themselves. The least we might ask at the outset of the British police investigation is:
How reliable is the information transmitted from Pakistan's ISI to its British police and intelligence counterparts? The sweeping Home Office statements that the plot would have resulted in "an unimaginable loss of human life", were in large part based on information out of Rawalpindi, Pakistan, courtesy of Scotland Yard's Pakistani partner: The Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).
Is the credibility of Scotland Yard impaired by its working relationship with an organization which, for the last 25 years, has promoted international terrorism?
What would be the perceptions of the British and American public were they to learn that the London Metropolitan police was conducting its investigation with the assistance of an organization known to have close links to Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda?
Can an independent police investigation be conducted with the active participation of British and US intelligence, knowing that both MI6 and the CIA have links (either directly or via the ISI) to "Islamic terrorist organizations".
"The War on Terrorism"
According to Pakistani press reports (Dawn, August 12, 2006) two Pakistani Islamic militant groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Sunni group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi were involved in the UK terror plot. (August 2006)
Two other UK-based outfits Al Mahajroon and Hizbul Tehrir, are allegedly also involved.
Matiur Rehman "a senior figure" in Lashkar-e-Jhangvi is considered to be "the possible mastermind behind the plot".
Rehman, who is still "at large" is identified according to The Independent as "Al-Qaeda's planning director".
One of the main suspects Rachid Rauf has been arrested by the ISI.
The Pakistani authorities have put Hafiz Mohammed Saeed, the founder of Laskhar-e-Taiba under house arrest.
Ironically, Lashkar e Taiba, which now operates clandestinely, is one of the main Kashmir rebel groups which had been supported and financed by the ISI, yet, at the same time, it is the ISI which has been entrusted in investigating Lashkar's role in the UK terror plot.
Moreover, according to former CIA intelligence analyst Jim Loftus in relation to last year's 7/7 London bomb attack, Al Mahjajoon, identified as a British based organization in the foiled August terror attack, has been supported by MI6. While channeling covert support to Mahjajoon [Muhajiroun], MI6 (The Secret Intelligence Service) also collaborates with Scotland Yard's Anti-Terrorism Branch, in liaison with US Homeland Security headed by Michael Chertoff and the CIA.
This contradictory relationship between intelligence agencies and terror groups should come as no surprise.

The "War on Terrorism" is a fabrication.
Al Qaeda, the "outside enemy" of the West is a creation of the US intelligence apparatus.
In intelligence parlance, Al Qaeda is an "intelligence asset", an "instrument" of the intelligence agencies.
The intelligence agencies oversee their "intelligence assets", which have a certain degree of independence and autonomy in relation to their sponsors.
While they promote the terror network through covert operations, intelligence agencies also engage in the legitimate practice of "counter-terrorism".
The latter is invariably a smokescreen, which essentially consists in "going after" the organizations created and/or indirectly supported by the intelligence apparatus.
The system of "color coded" terror alerts, the fear campaign, the terror warnings, the anti-terrorist drills and exercises, in the name of "national security" have become part of a heavily ritualized process which supports a global military agenda.
All of these various initiatives, including the campaign against Islam, are undertaken to confuse public opinion --through media disinformation-- into believing that the "outside enemy" is real and that the "war on terrorism" waged in the Middle East, which has resulted in countless civilian deaths, constitutes a justified "national security" objective.
Moreover, to sustain the "war on terrorism", US and British intelligence must continue to support (through covert operations) the "Islamic terror network".
Without an "outside enemy" there is no "war on terrorism", no "just cause" for waging a profit driven Middle East war of conquest, which responds to carefully defined strategic and economic objectives.
Without the " war on terrorism", the war criminals in high office and their powerful corporate sponsors do not have a leg to stand on.
Their legitimacy collapses like a deck of card.

While channeling covert support to Mahjajoon [Muhajiroun], MI6 (The Secret Intelligence Service) also collaborates with Scotland Yard's Anti-Terrorism Branch, in liaison with US Homeland Security headed by Michael Chertoff and the CIA.
This contradictory relationship between intelligence agencies and terror groups should come as no surprise.

The "War on Terrorism" is a fabrication.
Al Qaeda, the "outside enemy" of the West is a creation of the US intelligence apparatus.
In intelligence parlance, Al Qaeda is an "intelligence asset", an "instrument" of the intelligence agencies.
The intelligence agencies oversee their "intelligence assets", which have a certain degree of independence and autonomy in relation to their sponsors.
While they promote the terror network through covert operations, intelligence agencies also engage in the legitimate practice of "counter-terrorism".
The latter is invariably a smokescreen, which essentially consists in "going after" the organizations created and/or indirectly supported by the intelligence apparatus.
The system of "color coded" terror alerts, the fear campaign, the terror warnings, the anti-terrorist drills and exercises, in the name of "national security" have become part of a heavily ritualized process which supports a global military agenda.
All of these various initiatives, including the campaign against Islam, are undertaken to confuse public opinion --through media disinformation-- into believing that the "outside enemy" is real and that the "war on terrorism" waged in the Middle East, which has resulted in countless civilian deaths, constitutes a justified "national security" objective.
Moreover, to sustain the "war on terrorism", US and British intelligence must continue to support (through covert operations) the "Islamic terror network".
Without an "outside enemy" there is no "war on terrorism", no "just cause" for waging a profit driven Middle East war of conquest, which responds to carefully defined strategic and economic objectives.
Without the " war on terrorism", the war criminals in high office and their powerful corporate sponsors do not have a leg to stand on.
Their legitimacy collapses like a deck of card.

Murdoch uncovered Prince Charles-Gordon Brown plot to oust Blair. Phony terror plan cooked up to derail coup plans.

British law enforcement, neo-con and intelligence operatives in the United States, Israel, and Britain, and Rupert Murdoch's global media empire cooked up the terrorist plot, liberally borrowing from the failed 1995 "Oplan Bojinka" plot by Pakistan- and Philippines-based terrorist Ramzi Ahmad Yousef to crash 11 trans-Pacific airliners bound from Asia to the United States.
In the latest plot, it is reported that liquid bombs were to be detonated on 10 trans-Atlantic planes outbound from Britain to the United States.
The London terror plan was "known" last Sunday by British and American authorities, according to the Indian press.
American Airlines flight 109 from London Heathrow to Boston boarded a family of five. However, after the plane left Heathrow authorities determined that the father appeared on a British suspect list drawn up after the 7/7 London transit attacks. At first, the pilot was instructed to fly all the way to Boston where U.S. authorities could claim credit for apprehending the suspect.
However, the pilot, fearing for the safety of his passengers and crew, refused and quickly returned to Heathrow without informing the passengers. Once on the ground, it was discovered that the male had in his carry-on baggage the type of combination liquid explosive and electronic device now being hyped by the British and American media.
British sources report that the reason for the delay in informing the airlines and traveling public about the liquid bomb on the American flight was to maximize the beneficial political impact for Blair and George W. Bush, both plummeting in the polls from the situations in Iraq and Lebanon.
Earlier this week, two employees of Murdoch's London tabloid, News of the World, were charged with hacking into the voice and text cell phone messages of three members of the staff of Clarence House, the residence of Princes Charles, William, and Harry.
One of those charged with the wiretapping was Clive Goodman, the Royals editor of the News of the World. The same paper earlier tried to politically damage two anti-Iraq war British politicians -- Scottish Socialist Tommy Sheridan and Respect Party MP George Galloway. The paper charges that Sheridan was unfaithful to his wife by going to swinger's clubs. He won a quarter million dollar lawsuit against the paper. Galloway was confronted by Mazher Mahmood, an individual who uses the moniker "Fake Sheik," who posed as a wealthy Arab businessman and tried unsuccessfully to get Galloway to accept cash and make anti-Semitic remarks. In fact, Mahmood was and continues to be a reporter for News of the World, his continued employment approved by Murdoch. Goodman has merely been suspended by Murdoch but he has not been fired.
However, what prompted Murdoch and Blair to hype a new global "terror" threat was what Murdoch learned from eavesdropping on the phone calls of Prince Charles' staff at the future king's office, home, and limousine.
The eavesdropping revealed that Charles was working with Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown, who is to the left of Blair, to conduct the same type of political maneuver that John Major used to oust Margaret Thatcher from office.
London's left-wing Mayor, Ken Livingston, was also in on the Charles-Brown plan and it was expected that in return for his support, Livingston would get a senior position in a Brown cabinet -- a development that sent shock waves through the neo-con circles in London, Washington, and Jerusalem, including British Home Secretary John Reid and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.
The Charles-Brown plan was briefed by Blair to Bush during the former's recent visit to Washington. However, because the phony terror plot was known to both leaders -- they decided to be away on vacation when the terror plot was "uncovered." Bush is vacationing at his Crawford, Texas "ranch," while Blair is on vacation in Barbados, staying at Sir Cliff Richard's luxurious villa.
After Blair met with Bush in Washington, he flew to California where on July 30 he attended Murdoch's News Corporation private corporate executive conference at the posh Inn at Spanish Bay golf resort in Pebble Beach. The Israeli attack on Lebanon created a rift within Blair's Cabinet with some former Blair loyalists signaling their support for the political coup against Blair. As a result, a suspect passenger was permitted to board an American aircraft at Heathrow with a liquid bomb to lay the groundwork for the media and travel hysteria five days later.
Final touches on fake terror plot were agreed to by Blair and Murdoch at July 30 News Corp/Fox VIP meeting at the Inn at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach, California.
The wiretapping of Charles' messages also indicated that he has weighed in with various European royal families to discourage them from inviting Bush on state visits to their nations. This, reportedly upset the Bush and Blair regimes, who were working together to improve Bush's image in Europe. Pakistan's Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) agency has helped provide the cover story for the alleged liquid bombers. Working with British and U.S. intelligence, the ISI says it broke up the plot after arresting terrorist suspects in Lahore and Karachi. A huge ‘terror plot’ has just been uncovered in London. “This was intended to be mass murder on an unimaginable scale” say the London Metropolitan police. Britain's terror alert, accordingly, has been ratcheted up to its highest-ever level with security services, military and police now on “severe specific” alert.
Not to be left behind, even though the list of unanswered questions, irregularities, and discrepancies continues to grow with each passing hour, the obedient Western media jumped at the occasion ensuring a spate of spectacular cover stories and anti-Muslim tirade.
As usual, though the facts are still coming in, the media is dutifully following the open-ended cues provided by the US and British governments, and reproducing the handed-down script without a pause for the facts to emerge fully.
With an indecent haste, government enforcers have already slapped ridiculous restrictions on travelers, with mother's having to taste baby milk before they board planes and all hand luggage, including liquid drinks, being banned.
If there indeed was such a plot, then by its uncovering innocent lives surely have been saved and just in time too. If not, then let us thank God for that and hasten to analyze the event from a slightly closer quarter as it has happened a little too conveniently for certain personages of rather dubious repute and vile agenda.
Consider the following.
The Anglo-USraeli juggernaut is on a roll and under fire at the same time. George Bush’s Iraq jaunt has spun out of control with his own top General now openly admitting the possibility (read happening already) of a civil war in that unfortunate country.
With the US president’s ‘war on terror’ now thoroughly discredited by renowned policy specialists, his approval ratings stand at a historical worst for any President of United States in opinion polls.
Tony Blair is beleaguered by his own party men for his sycophantic support of Zionist extremists. Israel is getting some lessons in humility from the rag tag Hezbollah fighters raising fears among its supporters in the West.
Iran not only remains defiant over its nuclear program but also continues to provide both overt and covert support to Hezbollah and Hamas. Syria, uncompromising as ever, watches on quietly for now yet ready to jump into the melee come the calling. In short, it is a mess and THE ISLAMISTS are clearly responsible for all this.
Undoubtedly, a single major distraction capable of killing a whole slew of nasty birds was the crying need of the time.
Not surprisingly, therefore, clichés that are the corner stone of Anglo-American policy for global hegemony like ‘Islamic Terror’, 'Bin Laden', 'Jihaadis', ‘Al-Qaeda style attack’, ‘suicide bombers’ and ‘security of Western citizens’ etc. are back with a bang with this latest buildup.
The smear machine has had gallons of oil thrown on its creaking cogs and is in full gear instantly.
At the same time, to breathe new life into the stalling agenda of their masters, crawling out of the woodwork are these states’ instruments of coercion and control such as the CIA, MI6, Mossad and affiliated intelligence agencies, like Pakistan's ISI.
Statistical analysis has now conclusively proven that every time Blair and Bush slump in approval ratings, a fresh terror alert gives them a rebound back up the charts. Every single major terror alert, hear this, issued by the US, Canadian or UK governments has proven to be either a contrived facade, a setup sting operation or an out-and-out fraud.
But then why not a full blown 9/11 as predicted by many, self included? Why this just-in-time-uncovering of the plots (e.g. Toronto, Florida, the earlier London plot etc) only days/weeks before the supposed attempts, one may ask?
The answer probably lies in the 9/11 truth movement being on the crest of a wave of media exposure. Distinguished scientific minds and brave citizens have now blown open the lid on evidence of government sponsored terror and how they control the society through the power of nightmares.
The movement itself, already on the lens of quite a few main stream media big names like C-Span, is about to burst out full time from the sidelines into the middle of the road.

A Kuwaiti citizen Omar Al-Faruq who allegedly was the mastermind in the Bali bomb plot was arrested in Bogor, Indonesia, on June 5, 2002 and handed over to the US authorities. Former Indonesian State Intelligence Coordinating Board (BAKIN) chief A.C. Manulang was quoted by Tempo as saying that Al-Faruq is a CIA-recruited agent. A Pentagon official in Washington later confirmed that al-Faruq escaped from a U.S. detention facility in Bagram, Afghanistan, on 10 July 2005. Too convenient by half, I would say.
If this latest hype remains unexposed and the US-UK-Israeli aggressor bloc is able to somehow pin this newest fantasy on Hezbollah, Syria, or Iran, then given the imminent collapse of the Anglo-US imperialistic venture, and the unforeseen drawing out of the current Israeli offensive in Lebanon, this new stunt threatens to take the world into a general war.

A huge ‘terror plot’ has just been uncovered in London. “This was intended to be mass murder on an unimaginable scale” say the London Metropolitan police. Britain's terror alert, accordingly, has been ratcheted up to its highest-ever level with security services, military and police now on “severe specific” alert.
Not to be left behind, even though the list of unanswered questions, irregularities, and discrepancies continues to grow with each passing hour, the obedient Western media jumped at the occasion ensuring a spate of spectacular cover stories and anti-Muslim tirade.
As usual, though the facts are still coming in, the media is dutifully following the open-ended cues provided by the US and British governments, and reproducing the handed-down script without a pause for the facts to emerge fully.
With an indecent haste, government enforcers have already slapped ridiculous restrictions on travelers, with mother's having to taste baby milk before they board planes and all hand luggage, including liquid drinks, being banned.
If there indeed was such a plot, then by its uncovering innocent lives surely have been saved and just in time too. If not, then let us thank God for that and hasten to analyze the event from a slightly closer quarter as it has happened a little too conveniently for certain personages of rather dubious repute and vile agenda.
Consider the following.
The Anglo-USraeli juggernaut is on a roll and under fire at the same time. George Bush’s Iraq jaunt has spun out of control with his own top General now openly admitting the possibility (read happening already) of a civil war in that unfortunate country.
With the US president’s ‘war on terror’ now thoroughly discredited by renowned policy specialists, his approval ratings stand at a historical worst for any President of United States in opinion polls.
Tony Blair is beleaguered by his own party men for his sycophantic support of Zionist extremists. Israel is getting some lessons in humility from the rag tag Hezbollah fighters raising fears among its supporters in the West.
Iran not only remains defiant over its nuclear program but also continues to provide both overt and covert support to Hezbollah and Hamas. Syria, uncompromising as ever, watches on quietly for now yet ready to jump into the melee come the calling. In short, it is a mess and THE ISLAMISTS are clearly responsible for all this.
Undoubtedly, a single major distraction capable of killing a whole slew of nasty birds was the crying need of the time.
Not surprisingly, therefore, clichés that are the corner stone of Anglo-American policy for global hegemony like ‘Islamic Terror’, 'Bin Laden', 'Jihaadis', ‘Al-Qaeda style attack’, ‘suicide bombers’ and ‘security of Western citizens’ etc. are back with a bang with this latest buildup.
The smear machine has had gallons of oil thrown on its creaking cogs and is in full gear instantly.
At the same time, to breathe new life into the stalling agenda of their masters, crawling out of the woodwork are these states’ instruments of coercion and control such as the CIA, MI6, Mossad and affiliated intelligence agencies, like Pakistan's ISI.
Statistical analysis has now conclusively proven that every time Blair and Bush slump in approval ratings, a fresh terror alert gives them a rebound back up the charts. Every single major terror alert, hear this, issued by the US, Canadian or UK governments has proven to be either a contrived facade, a setup sting operation or an out-and-out fraud.
But then why not a full blown 9/11 as predicted by many, self included? Why this just-in-time-uncovering of the plots (e.g. Toronto, Florida, the earlier London plot etc) only days/weeks before the supposed attempts, one may ask?
The answer probably lies in the 9/11 truth movement being on the crest of a wave of media exposure. Distinguished scientific minds and brave citizens have now blown open the lid on evidence of government sponsored terror and how they control the society through the power of nightmares.

How does Bush get away with it?
70% of the population seem to go along with the official version of 9 11 because:
(1) they are doing well financially and don't want to rock the boat
(2) they have a sneaking sympathy for fascist views
and/0r
(3) they have been duped by the media

Hitler believed that to consolidate his power, he needed to create an enemy of the state.
Because they were the most outspoken activists against his regime, Hitler's first enemy was the Communist Party, and he was the first to invoke the spectre of the Red Menace.
He sought to provoke Communist Activists into committing violent acts of protest so that they could be rounded up and arrested them under his new aggressive laws suppressing public dissent.
Aware of this ploy and believing that Hitler was merely a puppet of reactionaries and his regime would not last, the Communists laid low. But the Führer, becoming progressively more drunk with his new power, was not so easily thwarted. To facilitate his demonization of the Reds, he sent provocateurs to stage an act of terrorism.
Their dupe was a young revolutionary named Van der Lubbe, who was implicated in (framed for) the bombing of the Reichstag (the German equivalent of the Congressional building). This incident gave Hitler the excuse he needed for cracking down on enemies of the state. He rallied the Germans against the terrorists and passed the odious Enabling Acts, in which the government was granted the right to bypass any due process for suspects. One human right after the other was revoked...
Hitler courted the conservative Christian clergy from the start...
To their shame, many clergymen became his closest allies and most effective tools as propagandists, spies, and suppressors of dissent.
Hitler made public dissent all but impossible at first, and later made it illegal. Whenever groups tried to voice a protest during a public speech, he would have storm troopers clear the dissenters from the hall and also made sure that the media did not give provide the public with any coverage of dissenters or public protests because it was . . . encouraging of destructive elements.
What the media faithfully recorded was only Hitler and Hitler supporters. To see an old German newsreel, you'd never guess there were plenty of dissenters around...
Hitler was very fond of photo ops. Believing they were his best form of Public Relations, he pounced on them at every opportunity. The files abound with shots of Hitler with bright-faced German families; he especially liked being photographed with school children. At the same time, Hitler actively promoted family values and high moral standards. He believed women should go back to being at home with their families and not in the work force. He also believed there should be little or no separation between the state and his brand of Christianity, especially since he firmly believed that the emotional fervor of religion could be used to effectively to promote the state's objectives.
Under Hitler, worker protections were dismantled, one by one. Soon workers were laboring for longer hours for less pay. (All trade unions had been smashed, so there was no recourse.)
Unfortunately, the Social Democrats were not organized and did not offer a solid front for opposing Hitler and his initiatives. They soon found themselves overwhelmed by a highly organized, aggressive and fanatically single-minded army of Nazi Party appointees who did whatever Hitler told them to do without questioning.

STALIN
Joseph Stalin was successful in seizing and retaining power primarily because he was able to stack the Politburo with politicians as extreme as himself and dictate their actions and votes on every issue. Party dissenters were harassed mercilessly by the Politburo members who remained blindly loyal to him. With a block of supporters who did not think for themselves, Stalin was able to completely reverse Russia's policy on a number of key issues across the board.
In 1936, for example, he reversed the liberal communist doctrines pertaining to family, divorce, and abortion. He made divorce difficult, made abortion illegal, and stressed family values. (Do we see a dictator pattern here?)
Stalin's propagandists used a three-point strategy to convince the Russian people that things in his policy that were in fact extremely bad for the country (including the systematic round up and extermination of all enemies of the state) were in fact good:
Point One: Create arguments that show the negative thing is actually good, not bad. A present day example of this would be convincing people that greenhouse gases will give us lush green plants, not fry the planet.
Point Two: Show how the negative thing is actually not true. A present-day example of this would be convincing people that Global Warming does not exist.
Point Three: Show that the negative thing is actually being caused by enemies of the state---which are usually liberals. A present-day example of this would be that the Kyoto Protocol can't be accepted because it would ruin our economy.

The GOP of 1936 and Today's Dirty Politics: How the Former Gave Birth to the Latter
Meanwhile, back in the U.S., Franklin Delano Roosevelt was attempting to guide the nation safely through the Great Depression. The outrageous treatment of American workers by the corporate bosses had become a major issue.
Men and women worked 12- 14 hours a day, had no unemployment benefits, health insurance, job protections or safety regulations. In response to this sorry state of affairs, labor unions were forming, but they were being met with brutal resistance by the bosses and their henchmen.
Because FDR championed the worker's cause and called for all manner of reforms - including the Social Security system - he was identified as the enemy of the bosses. The Republican Party, the attack dog of big business even then, was turned loose on the President with a vengeance. His every step was dogged.
Just as Corporate America saw FDR as an enemy, many of them--including IBM and G.W. Bush's Grandfather---saw a friend in Hitler and treated this vicious genocidal maniac with far more respect and deference than they did FDR.
The GOP was to learn many of its nastiest tactics from Hitler and Goebbels---including using Communism as a scapegoat enemy of the state to consolidate power just as soon as they had a Republican back in the White House ((Eisenhower in 1952).
Another Hitler tactic learned by the GOP was the use of the smear. Hitler advised telling a damaging lie about an enemy, then repeating it over and over, no matter what proof may be offered to counter it...
The GOP sales team identified several key points of attack, which they have used with almost no variation in every campaign since---whether appropriate or not:
Accuse the opposition of
over-spending,
supporting big government, and
waging a class war;
Identify a bogeyman from a list of opponents as an enemy of freedom---initially the Communists or Liberals, but now the Environmentalists,Anti-Gun folks, and Scientists as well. (Wonder who they learned that from?);
Condemn government social programs as communistic or in some other way Un-American; and
Manipulate statistics to your own advantage...
Even the usually non-political magazine Variety condemned the ruthless GOP campaign machine:
Political parties are being reduced to merchandise which can be exchanged for votes in accordance with a well-conceived marketing plan, taking stock of income levels, race, local problems, exactly as does a commercial sponsor. This differs not one whit from the tactics employed by any corporation.
To their credit, Americans of the 1930s were not as easily swayed by propaganda as they apparently are today.
They were grateful to FDR for having placed the interests of the common man first and corporations second, for taking steps to make life less stressful and uncertain through the construction of safety nets such as relief and social security...

"Finally, if all else goes well, it is the destiny of the patsies to take the blame for the terror action once it has happened.
"At this point the moles in the government apparatus, who had earlier been the patsies’ greatest friends and protectors, become their most implacable enemies.
"The patsies must be hunted down and, preferably, liquidated on the spot, as the British Special Air Services anti-terrorist force always prefers to do, with a maximum of firepower. Their faces and stories will be demonized as the latest manifestation of absolute evil.

Israelis attack Christians in Lebanon

Israeli raids north of Beirut shock Christian residents
In the Jounieh area of Lebanon, a Christian heartland, 20 kilometres north of Beirut, the bridge next to the Casino du Liban was struck by two Israeli missiles blocking the major road link to other areas in north Lebanon.
'The Israelis are now carrying a war of destruction against Lebanon ... they are not only after Hezbollah ... they are now after destroying our infrastructure,' shouted Tony Feghali, who lives close by.
Jounieh is a major, residential seaside area, with large hotels, beaches and restaurants. It is also the location of the once- luxurious Casino du Liban.
'People call this area the Monte Carlo of the Middle East... so this is definitely not a Hezbollah military base,' Joseph Semaha, a hotel owner in the area said.
'Nowhere is safe in this country any more ... this Israeli war is against the Lebanese civilians and the infrastructure and not Hezbollah, as the Israeli claim,' Semaha said.

Hezbollah not to blame for the war; Bush and Blair knew in advance of the Israeli plans to invade Lebanon.
Prior to July 2006, the border between Israel and Lebanon was relatively quiet. There had been no major incidents in the six years after Israel ended its 22 year-occupation in May 2000.
According to the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), there were minor skirmishes caused by the almost daily Israeli invasion of Lebanese airspace.
In 2003 Israeli Brigadier General Meir Caliphi said that northern Israel was witnessing its most peaceful periods in years.
'When compared to other parts of the country, the north is flourishing,' he said.
He said the only real activity from Hezbollah was when Israeli planes invaded Lebanese airspace and they fired anti-aircraft guns. Only two civilians sustained minor injuries as a result of the shelling, he said.

On 12 July, 2006, two Israeli soldiers were captured in Lebanon.
It all started on July 12 when Israel troops were ambushed on Lebanon's side of the border with Israel. Hezbollah, which commands the Lebanese south, immediately seized on their crossing. They arrested two Israeli soldiers, killed eight Israelis and wounded over 20 in attacks inside Israeli territory. [Asia Times 7/15/06]
The militant group Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers during clashes Wednesday across the border in southern Lebanon, prompting a swift reaction from Israel, which sent ground forces into its neighbor to look for them. On 12 July 2006, CNN reported Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah calling for 'direct negotiations' aimed at freeing prisoners from Israeli jails in exchange for the two Israeli soldiers arrested by Hezbollah.
There are reportedly 9,000 prisoners being illegally held in Israeli jails, including women and under-age children, that have never faced charges or trial. Some have been held for more than thirty years.
Israel has gone into Southern Lebanon to get control of water supplies.
Israel can increase its water supply by approximately 40% if it has continued access to the Litani river through permanent occupation of southern Lebanon.
"If the water resources in your country are rapidly decreasing, and the neighbouring country has an intact water supply... and if you think that in the future you will need the other countries water supply... then you will not attack that country saying you need their water.
"If you attack that country you will do so for another reason, hiding your real objective behind a wall of deception and lies. Israel has always had water problems.
"Today, in 2006, Israel lives with increasing water shortages and a rapidly decreasing supply of fresh water. The river Jordan may run dry within the next two years, because of the vast amount of water being drawn from the river by the people living in the area."
