A Chicago grand jury has indicted the President and Vice-President of the United States along with multiple high officials in the Bush administration.

U.S. federal prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald's Chicago grand jury has issued perjury and obstruction of justice indictments to the following members of the Bush Administration: President George W. Bush, Vice-President Richard Cheney, Bush Chief of Staff Andrew Card, Cheney Chief of Staff I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, former Attorney General John Ashcroft, imprisoned New York Times reporter Judith Miller and former Senior Cheney advisor Mary Matalin.
There were no indications given as to whether the President and his top staff members would appear publicly before cameras at the grand jury proceedings, given the gravity of the charges.
Besides the Valerie Plame CIA leak case, the Fitzgerald probe is reportedly far-reaching and expanding much deeper into past White House criminal acts involving Bush-Clinton drug money laundering in Mena, Arkansas to White House involvement in 9.11; but also for sending America's young people to their deaths or to be maimed in Iraq and Afghanistan under false pretenses.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair was indicted for obstruction of justice and is reportedly consulting with members of Parliament and legal aides regarding how to avoid appearing in the U.S.A. for interrogation before Fitzgerald in Chicago.
The revelations emanated from sources close to the grand jury who spoke with federal whistleblower Thomas Heneghen in California who said White House Senior Advisor to the President Karl Rove was also indicted for perjury and was reportedly involved with Mary Matalin in a major Bush administration document shredding operation to cover-up evidence.
Heneghen had reported over ten days ago on a TruthRadio.com broadcast that his sources close to the grand jury said former Secretary of State Colin Powell had been subpoenaed and had testified against President Bush, telling the citizen panel that the President had taken the United States to war based upon lies - a capital crime involving treason under the United States Code.
Heneghen also reported a week ago that Gonzalez and Card had been subpoened and that Tony Blair had defied his subpoena after the response time limit had expired.
Sources close to the investigation report that members of the House, Senate, 9.11 Commission and other members of the media are also under investigation as potential targets by a grand jury regarding obstruction of justice and other oversight failures linked to the 9.11 attacks -indicating that citizen panelists working with Fitzgerald may be seeking a wholesale cleansing of what many have said is a crime-wracked White House and Congress.
Also last Monday, the whistleblower reported that Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Pat Roberts was planning to obstruct justice by calling Fitzgerald for Senate hearings to question the prosecutor's motives for the far-reaching investigation.
This, giving rise to questions as to whether Roberts and other Republican legislators - some now under secret investigation - had fired Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox in order to obstruct justice and cut off further investigations into White House crimes.
Two weeks ago Heneghen said he had talked to sources just ten minutes prior to French and U.S. intelligence agents intercepting British intelligence agents who were attempting to bomb the subway underneath the Dirksen Federal Building where Fitzgerald was presiding over grand jury hearings.
Serious questions can also be raised as to whether intelligence forces linked to President Bush and Tony Blair had participated in a failed attempt to scuttle the Fitzgerald probe by literally blowing it up - at a time when UK reports reveal that military-grade explosives were used to blow up the London subway on July 7.
Sources say the alleged Chicago subway bombing attempt has been attributed to an underground and closeted enmity involving warring intelligence and military factions within the United States government.
Moreover, reports indicate that the disturbance occurred at the same time that the Chicago Tribune and local web blogs had reported that the subway had been evacuated for 45-50 minutes regarding a "suspicious package" late on Monday afternoon, July 18.
Also confirming the under-the-radar-screen hostilities involving agents loyal to the administration and others who are disturbed about the cover-up of government involvement in the 9.11 attacks was a recent contact made with this writer by a major New York media outlet which called seeking "names of those who could confirm its own reports of warring factions within the government which were threatening the safety of U.S. citizens."

Heneghen had reported over ten days ago on a TruthRadio.com broadcast that his sources close to the grand jury said former Secretary of State Colin Powell had been subpoenaed and had testified against President Bush, telling the citizen panel that the President had taken the United States to war based upon lies - a capital crime involving treason under the United States Code.
Heneghen also reported a week ago that Gonzalez and Card had been subpoened and that Tony Blair had defied his subpoena after the response time limit had expired.
Sources close to the investigation report that members of the House, Senate, 9.11 Commission and other members of the media are also under investigation as potential targets by a grand jury regarding obstruction of justice and other oversight failures linked to the 9.11 attacks -indicating that citizen panelists working with Fitzgerald may be seeking a wholesale cleansing of what many have said is a crime-wracked White House and Congress.
Also last Monday, the whistleblower reported that Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Pat Roberts was planning to obstruct justice by calling Fitzgerald for Senate hearings to question the prosecutor's motives for the far-reaching investigation.
This, giving rise to questions as to whether Roberts and other Republican legislators - some now under secret investigation - had fired Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox in order to obstruct justice and cut off further investigations into White House crimes.
Two weeks ago Heneghen said he had talked to sources just ten minutes prior to French and U.S. intelligence agents intercepting British intelligence agents who were attempting to bomb the subway underneath the Dirksen Federal Building where Fitzgerald was presiding over grand jury hearings.
Serious questions can also be raised as to whether intelligence forces linked to President Bush and Tony Blair had participated in a failed attempt to scuttle the Fitzgerald probe by literally blowing it up - at a time when UK reports reveal that military-grade explosives were used to blow up the London subway on July 7.
Sources say the alleged Chicago subway bombing attempt has been attributed to an underground and closeted enmity involving warring intelligence and military factions within the United States government.
Moreover, reports indicate that the disturbance occurred at the same time that the Chicago Tribune and local web blogs had reported that the subway had been evacuated for 45-50 minutes regarding a "suspicious package" late on Monday afternoon, July 18.
Also confirming the under-the-radar-screen hostilities involving agents loyal to the administration and others who are disturbed about the cover-up of government involvement in the 9.11 attacks was a recent contact made with this writer by a major New York media outlet which called seeking "names of those who could confirm its own reports of warring factions within the government which were threatening the safety of U.S. citizens."

At least 50 members of religious hard-line group Islam Defenders Front (FPI) sought an explanation from Governor Sutiyoso about the latter's stance on gambling and transsexuals.
"We want to hear from Sutiyoso himself whether or not he has donated Rp 100 million of the city budget to the pageant for transsexuals recently, and if he supports the idea of legalizing gambling in the city," said FPI's paramilitary wing commander Ahmad Sabri Lubis.
He met with Sutiyoso's subordinates, as the Governor was in a meeting.
Lubis said the organization suspected that Sutiyoso had ignored prevailing regulations which outlaw beauty pageants for transsexuals as well as gambling.
Lubis claimed that the FPI received a tip-off that Sutiyoso was also present at the beauty contest and donated around Rp 100 million for the event held at the Sarinah building on Jl. MH Thamrin in Central Jakarta early last week.
More than 100 FPI members came to protest against the Miss Waria Indonesia, but the organizers refused to bow down to the protesters' demand to stop the event and went on with the contest under heavy security provided by the police.
In addition, Lubis said that FPI also alleged that Sutiyoso's administration was attempting to permit gambling businesses in the capital.
He asserted that by tolerating the beauty contest, Sutiyoso's administration had shown "serious contempt for Islamic teachings and law, which would lead to devastation of the whole society".
Another protester, who introduced himself as a representative of FPI West Java warned that Sutiyoso's stance would become a precedent for other provinces in the country.

Indonesia's civilian minister of defense, Juwono Sudarsono, who was educated at the London School of Economics, has said that even after the democratic presidential election of 2004, the military "retains the real levers of power."
The Bali bomb may have helped former general Susilo Bangbang Yudhoyono to become president.
President Yudhoyono, a former general, was one of the last Indonesian officers to receive training at a United States staff college.
Yudhoyono is seen by some as being sympathetic to America's 'war on terror'.
The deaths of two American teachers in Indonesia in 2002 has been a problem for US-Indonesian relations. The Indonesian police concluded in a report soon after the killings that elements in the Indonesian military were responsible for the deaths.
The military chief is Gen. Ryamizard Ryacudu. He was not trained in the USA and is suspected by some as being hostile to aspects of American policy.

Rothschild had joined MI5 during World War Two. Rothschild had access to most secrets and most of the top people in the Secret service.
In the book 'The Fifth Man', (by Roland Perry, Pan Books London 1994) Roland Perry puts the case that Ted Rothschild was a major spy who helped Israel.
According to ex-KGB Colonel 'F' and KGB officer Yuri Modin, Rothschild was the key to much of the penetration of British Intelligence.
Soon after Israel was formed, Rothschild was allegedly involved with Chaim Weizmann in setting up a special nuclear physics department in a scientific institute in Rehovoth.
Edward Heath in 1970 made Rothschild the head of the government's Central Policy Review Staff. Later Margaret Thatcher appointed Rothschild as her unofficial security adviser.
In 1972, Rothschild reportedly played a major part in choosing the new head of MI5, Michael Hanley

No "peaceful use only" condition was placed on its use.
Ministers in Harold Macmillan's government were unaware of the deal. It was also kept secret from the US. The documents appear to suggest that only civil servants at a relatively low level were involved.
In one of the documents Foreign Office official Donald Cape concluded: "On the whole I would prefer not to mention this to the Americans."
US President John F Kennedy's defence secretary from 1961, Robert McNamara, told BBC News he was "astonished" by the cover-up.
"It is very surprising to me we were not told because we shared information about the nuclear bomb very closely with the British.
"The fact Israel was trying to develop a nuclear bomb should not have come as any surprise.
"But that Britain should have supplied it with heavy water was indeed a surprise to me."
Officials presented it as a deal between Norway and Israel.
Former Conservative defence and foreign office minister Lord Gilmour told BBC News the revelations were "quite extraordinary".
The civil servants involved must have known Israel would use the heavy water to develop a nuclear bomb, he added.
"They just seemed to be concerned with making a bit of money."
By the time Israel asked the UK for more heavy water in 1961, the existence of the Dimona reactor and a probable nuclear weapons programme had been exposed by the Daily Express newspaper, leading the Foreign Office to block the sale, the papers show.
Sir Hugh Stephenson wrote: "I am quite sure we should not agree to this sale.

Worst terror attack in history

On July 21 2005, the British New Scientist magazine reported that two historians had uncovered evidence revealing that:
“the US decision to drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki ... was meant to kick-start the Cold War rather than end the Second World War”.
Mark Selden, a historian from Cornell University in New York, and Peter Kuznick, director of the Nuclear Studies Institute at the University in Washington, studied the diplomatic archives of the US, Japan and the USSR.
They found that three days before Hiroshima, Truman agreed at a meeting that Japan was “looking for peace”.
His senior generals and political advisers told him there was no need to use the A-bomb.
But the bombs were dropped anyway. “Impressing Russia was more important than ending the war”, Selden told the New Scientist.
This ties in with the testimony of many central US political and military players at the time, including General Dwight Eisenhower, who stated bluntly in a 1963 Newsweek interview that “the Japanese were ready to surrender and it wasn't necessary to hit them with that awful thing”.
Truman's chief of staff, Admiral William Leahy, stated in his memoirs that “the use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender.”
The USA killed hundreds of thousands of men, women and children in order to show off its power.
The United States' latest Nuclear Posture Review 'envisages the use of nuclear weapons against non-nuclear “rogue states” and it is developing a new generation of ‘battlefield” nuclear weapons.'

Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez has confirmed allegations first published in the Spanish daily El Pais on December 13 that the former Popular Party (PP) government led by José María Aznar ordered the destruction of computer records dealing with the key period between the Madrid train bombings and the general election held three days later that it lost to Zapatero’s Socialist Workers Party (PSOE).
El Pais reported that a specialist computer company was paid $12,000 to erase the computer records, including back-up security copies.

The Spanish police and the Madrid 'terrorists'
Three of the suspects in the Madrid bombings were informants for a police inspector in northern Spain.
They made calls to the policeman and to the alleged ringleader of the bombing plot from the same pay phone outside the police station...
The bombings were not traditional terrorism, but were part of a strategy of tension orchestrated by the Spanish far right to influence the Spanish election results (thwarted by the refusal of the Spanish media to play along and by Aznar's bungling attempts to use the bombings for his political benefit).
The Spanish police would have been heavily involved in this, and one would expect close connections between the police and the alleged terrorists.

The Spanish police continue to plant evidence in the Madrid bombing case (my italics and bold type):
"Police in Spain have found a second car used in the train bombings in Madrid in March, reports say.The abandoned rental car was discovered in the town of Alcala de Henares, where several of the bombs are thought to have been loaded on to trains, in June.Spanish newspaper El Mundo said the car was parked 30 metres from where another vehicle also believed to have been used by the bombers was found."
and:
"A resident of the Madrid suburb alerted police to the car after noticing it had been abandoned, El Mundo said. Police treated it as a stolen vehicle and returned it to the rental company, whose staff started to clean it - before discovering a suitcase inside containing suspicious material. 'Much of the evidence that the terrorists left inside the car disappeared in the course of the cleaning of the car,' the daily said. DNA tests confirmed that the car was used by two suspected suspects in the case, one of whom blew themselves (sic) up in a flat in April to avoid arrest, the report said."
I think even people who find conspiracy theory silly are going to have trouble with this one. The police:
1. failed to examine a car found 30 meters from another vehicle which is supposed to have been used by the bombers; and
2. when alerted that the car appeared to be abandoned in the area of the terrorist car, returned it without having any suspicions about it, and in particular missed the suitcase containing 'suspicious material' (does it remind you of 'Atta's' suitcase found at Logan Airport?);

It is clear that as evidence continues to mount showing connections between the patsies and Spanish police, the police are starting to panic, and are resorting to some rather obvious evidence manufacturing.

You can see how absurdly easy it is to create a fake 'al-Qaeda' terrorist attack. Take one petty criminal from Madrid of plausible ethnicity and pay him some money to hang out with some people who the authorities can associate with al-Qaeda. After the bomb attack, either plant a bag of unexploded bombs or find a real dud bag and, while it is in the police station, put a phone and a phone card from the shop of the petty criminal in the bag. The criminal is instantly turned into Lee Harvey Oswald, and the bombing attack is instantly turned into an act of Islamic fundamentalist terrorism.

1. The main suspect, Jamal Zougam appears to have been a petty scammer and fence who dealt in stolen telephones and credit cards brought to him by a ring of pickpockets in Madrid.
One business associate who had visited him just before the attack said:
"I know what he is accused of, but this is not the Jamal we know."
Mahabur al-Farhon, who owns a boutique close to Zougam's shop, said:
"When we had a beer together he never talked about religion. He was more interested in making money."
Zougam is tied into the bombings by a phonecard said to have come from his shop which was found in the one bag of bombs which did not explode. The reason it did not explode is supposedly because the trigger for the explosion, a phone call to a disposable cell phone in the bag, was not made. The reason the call was not made? Because the terrorists forgot (or because they set the clock on one detonator for 19:40 rather than 7:40)! The famous bag itself was found in a police station, where it supposedly had been taken by the police along with other luggage found at the scene of the bombing. The Spanish authorities don't seem comfortable with witness statements that Zougam was on the train, so the fact one of his phones and phonecards were used really doesn't prove anything except that someone involved may have bought them from him.
2. A group of radical Muslims had moved into Zougam's neighborhood recently, but Zougam was never seen in their company. He liked to go to nightclubs, was interested in sporting the latest fashions, and had boasted about his many girlfriends. In other words, he was just like Mohamed Atta, another 'Islamic fundamentalist' with decidedly un-fundamentalist choices in lifestyle!
3. Moroccan authorities have identified the three arrested Moroccans as Jamal Zugam, 30, an office worker, Muhammad Bekkali, 31, a mechanic and Muhammad Chaui, 34, a factory worker. They are not known to be connected to terrorism (and the Moroccans appear to be on top of such things). This is eerily reminiscent of the stolen identities used in the 9-11 attack.
4. The Abu Hafs al Masri Brigade, which took credit for the bombings, may not actually exist.
5. Of the five arrested men, three are said to be Moroccans (with five other Moroccan suspects not yet apprehended), and two are supposed to be from India. Although it may be a translation problem, they were described as being of 'Hindu' origin, odd members for al-Qaeda! It is interesting that initially the men of 'Hindu' origin were simply being questioned and were not expected to be arrested.
6. There were no suicide bombers.
If 'Jamal Zougam' (if that is his real name) was involved, and that is certainly not proven, it seems likely he did it for money rather than for religious ideals. If so, anyone could have hired him. The complete absence of any timely claim to have done the act from any known terrorist group makes it highly unlikely that it was a terrorist act in the traditional sense (I don't see any of the late claims of responsibility as being credible). The weavers of stories have already started their work of tying 'Jamal Zougam' into the web of international Islamic terrorism. Don't believe the hype!

Now there are unconfirmed reports British police killed two 'suicide bombers' outside the HSBC tower at Canary Wharf in London, according to the New Zealand Herald.
"Following the shooting, the 8000 workers in the 44-storey tower were told to stay away from windows and remain in the building for at least six hours," a New Zealand man working for Reuters in London told the newspaper.
Another coincidence is the alleged participation of Mohammed al-Gerbouzi in the London bombings.
"As head of the Group of Islamic Combatants of Morocco, he has been linked to the Madrid atrocities and bombings in Casablanca two years ago when 40 people died," according to the Edinburgh Evening News. "Mohammed al Gerbouzi is said to have been living with his family in Britain for 16 years. It is understood he was granted indefinite leave to remain in the country, despite warnings from Morocco that he posed a threat."
Nimmo notes: Isn’t it odd a potential threat to security such as al-Gerbouzi is allowed to walk around?
"A former pupil of cleric Abu Qatada—said to be Osama Bin Laden’s European ambassador—Gerbouzi is alleged by the Spanish authorities to have spoken to some of the Madrid bombers twice in the hours before they blew themselves up as police closed in."

Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez has confirmed allegations first published in the Spanish daily El Pais on December 13 that the former Popular Party (PP) government led by José María Aznar ordered the destruction of computer records dealing with the key period between the Madrid train bombings and the general election held three days later that it lost to Zapatero’s Socialist Workers Party (PSOE).
El Pais reported that a specialist computer company was paid $12,000 to erase the computer records, including back-up security copies.

The Spanish police and the Madrid 'terrorists'
Three of the suspects in the Madrid bombings were informants for a police inspector in northern Spain.
They made calls to the policeman and to the alleged ringleader of the bombing plot from the same pay phone outside the police station...
The bombings were not traditional terrorism, but were part of a strategy of tension orchestrated by the Spanish far right to influence the Spanish election results (thwarted by the refusal of the Spanish media to play along and by Aznar's bungling attempts to use the bombings for his political benefit).
The Spanish police would have been heavily involved in this, and one would expect close connections between the police and the alleged terrorists.

The Spanish police continue to plant evidence in the Madrid bombing case (my italics and bold type):
"Police in Spain have found a second car used in the train bombings in Madrid in March, reports say.The abandoned rental car was discovered in the town of Alcala de Henares, where several of the bombs are thought to have been loaded on to trains, in June.Spanish newspaper El Mundo said the car was parked 30 metres from where another vehicle also believed to have been used by the bombers was found."

"A resident of the Madrid suburb alerted police to the car after noticing it had been abandoned, El Mundo said. Police treated it as a stolen vehicle and returned it to the rental company, whose staff started to clean it - before discovering a suitcase inside containing suspicious material. 'Much of the evidence that the terrorists left inside the car disappeared in the course of the cleaning of the car,' the daily said. DNA tests confirmed that the car was used by two suspected suspects in the case, one of whom blew themselves (sic) up in a flat in April to avoid arrest, the report said."
I think even people who find conspiracy theory silly are going to have trouble with this one. The police:
1. failed to examine a car found 30 meters from another vehicle which is supposed to have been used by the bombers; and
2. when alerted that the car appeared to be abandoned in the area of the terrorist car, returned it without having any suspicions about it, and in particular missed the suitcase containing 'suspicious material' (does it remind you of 'Atta's' suitcase found at Logan Airport?);

Niger famine - the free market - oil

An article in the Guardian 1 August 2005, points out that the starvation in Niger is not the inevitable consequence of poverty, or simply the fault of locusts or drought.
"It is also the result of a belief that the free market can solve the problems of one of the world's poorest countries.
"The price of grain has skyrocketed; a 100kg bag of millet, the staple grain, costs around 8,000 to 12,000 West African francs (around £13) last year but now costs more than 22,000 francs (£25). According to Washington-based analysts the Famine Early Warning System Network (Fewsnet), drought and pests have only had a "modest impact" on grain production in Niger.
"The last harvest was only 11% below the five-yearly average. Prices have been rising also because traders in Niger have been exporting grain to wealthier neighbouring countries, including Nigeria and Ghana."

According to Wayne Madsen, 30 July 2005, there is evidence that the USA was involved in the revolt against President Karimov's government in the town of Andijan on May 17.
On July 29, Uzbekistan ordered the United States to vacate its airbase in the country.
The USA intends to keep its bases in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
According to Madsen the Uzbek media has revealed that "Pentagon special operations teams secretly met in Afghanistan with Tohir Yoldashev and members of his Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), a group the U.S. State Department considers a terrorist organization allied to 'Al Qaeda.'
"The meetings were reported to have occurred before and after the Andijan revolt, which was blamed on IMU forces."
The US-IMU meetings in Afghanistan were mentioned in an an article in Asia Times by India's former ambassador to Uzbekistan and Turkey, M. K. Bhadrakumar.

According to Wayne Madsen, 30 July 2005, there is evidence that the USA was involved in the revolt against President Karimov's government in the town of Andijan on May 17.
On July 29, Uzbekistan ordered the United States to vacate its airbase in the country.
The USA intends to keep its bases in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
According to Madsen the Uzbek media has revealed that "Pentagon special operations teams secretly met in Afghanistan with Tohir Yoldashev and members of his Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), a group the U.S. State Department considers a terrorist organization allied to 'Al Qaeda.'
"The meetings were reported to have occurred before and after the Andijan revolt, which was blamed on IMU forces."
The US-IMU meetings in Afghanistan were mentioned in an an article in Asia Times by India's former ambassador to Uzbekistan and Turkey, M. K. Bhadrakumar.

The Sudanese government confirmed Monday that Vice President John Garang was killed when a Ugandan presidential plane he was traveling in crashed into a southern Sudan mountain range.
John Garang negotiated an end to the civil war and recently joined the government. His death in a copter crash is a blow to reconciliation.

KHARTOUM (Reuters) - Sudanese state television said on Sunday the aircraft carrying ex-rebel John Garang, now first vice-president, had landed safely in a camp in south Sudan after it was reported missing earlier in the day.

According to a book published by the Dayan Institute for Middle East and Africa Studies called "Israel and the Sudanese Liberation Movement", Israel adopted a strategy which they called 'pulling the limbs then cutting them off'. What this policy entailed was the building of bridges with minority groups, pulling them out of the nationalist context and then 'encouraging' them to separate.
Tel Aviv hoped that this strategy would inevitably weaken the Arab world, break it down and threaten its interests at the same time. In order for this strategy to work, Mossad agents opened lines of communication and connections with the Kurds in Iraq, Maronites in Lebanon and Southerners in Sudan.
Of the three groups, the most important and strategic to Israel's interests were the Southern Sudanese due to the country's close proximity to Egypt. According to the Israeli military belief, Egypt is their most dangerous enemy in region, hence the deep concentration on achieving the goal of weakening it and threatening it from the back.
Israel set up relations with some 32 African countries in an attempt to break into Southern Sudan. Of all the emerging leaders of the separatist movement John Garang was the one chosen and so began Israel's role in destabilising Sudan.
Garang was prepared and backed so that he could set up a proper challenge to the government of Khartoum. According to the book "Israeli's" concentration on Sudan was part of Israel's strategy towards the Red sea, a place which from the start "Israel" thought of as an extremely essential outlet, it worked hard on ensuring it free for its ships to use in fear it becomes an Arabic lake that could be used to besiege it (Israel). Similar to what happened in 1967 and 1973 when the Arabs closed the Tiran and "Bab al mandab" straits."

Emperor Haile Selassie signed an agreement which allowed Israel to supervise all of Ethiopia's security organisations including the police, intelligence and the ministry of interior. Sharon's National Security Advisor (and former Mossad chief), Efraim Halevy said:
"In a visit to the United States two weeks ago, I was told by several well-informed observers that should one of the more severe scenarios come to pass, the United States will have no choice but to deepen its presence in the Middle East. To that end, it will have to renew the draft, to ensure that there are enough forces to deal with developing situations in countries like Saudi Arabia."
The 'scenario' being talked about is upheaval in Saudi Arabia.
According to Halevy, the Saudis are demanding US action on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "In the eyes of the Saudi prince, the rise in the level of tension, violence and enmity in our conflict had the effect of significantly strengthening the extremists in his country and throughout the Arab world..."
To preserve their regime, the Saudi princes need Israeli-Palestinian peace, which can only be achieved with US help.
Halevy thinks that someday the US may side with the Saudis on the issue of Israeli-Palestine peace.
