Assuming you are asking me – I’m seeing it as a 3-1/2 process beginning in A.D. 66 up until the destruction of the Jerusalem temple in A.D. 70. This is known as his “parousia,” which is the Greek word that is used to denote his “second coming.” It was used in a common sense to denote that someone was present among others, but it also carried a special sense to denote the presence, or visitation-of-consequence, of a king or other powerful political person, with his attendant entourage, ministers, and most importantly, his army. Josephus’ Jewish Wars is a remarkable recounting of the horrors the City experienced during the Roman siege and eventual breach. There were even many witnesses that spoke of seeing literal chariots moving among the clouds.
The whole point of the event was that God was changing covenants, moving his temple from Jerusalem to inside-his-people, and the people that had been the trustees of the old covenant had become so wicked, to the point that they crucified God’s only Son, and they became literal enemies of God and were destroyed to the point where to this day they have not been able to reinstitute the sacrifices, although I guarantee you they have plans to do so. But again I am trusting that that won’t happen. There was even an early attempt to reinstitute them in A.D. 132 (the so-called Bar Kochba revolt), but God squashed that as well.
Again, I’ve been studying this for over 20 years. My basic method is to be very careful to read what the words of the texts actually say. And all I can tell you is the text of the New Testament is very clear that his second coming was to happen as their generation was passing away, so the timing I have submitted is concordant with this. Yes the ages of Christ’s reign will be marked with good and bad times, and although we can always see patterns re-emerge from the pages of Scripture, especially patterns of evil since it only knows how to subdue people through sorcery techniques, we can’t say that anything is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy, except to rely on the prophecies that Christ’s reign will be ever-increasing.

Yesterday morning I witnessed a big ass Trump parade departing from Commonwealth Center Parkway in the 7th District of Virginia. It was awesome. I honked like crazy. Couldn’t attend because of business. These parades bring me down to tears.

Now I so hope that Trump will be ready to take down the violence that is planned for and during the election and nip in the bud!

Well, here’s an answer, and hopefully you will like it. Dana is like most Christians in that she believes that the “great tribulation” and the persecutions and such, that are predicted in biblical prophecy, are still to be fulfilled in our future. And especially in America, many Christians are indoctrinated in a system known as Dispensationalism. But I guarantee you that this is all wrong because the fact of the matter is that Jesus’ second coming happened within the time limits that he and all his apostles said, that is, in the first century. I’m not saying we can’t learn about how evil patterns work from the Scripture, as we obviously can and do, but what I’m saying is that the prophecies concerning the “end times” are completed now.
I’m not sure how much clearer the New Testament could have been:
Matthew 16:28 “Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” (Pretty self explanatory.)
Matthew 24:34 “Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.” (This generation meant just that – his generation.)
Rev. 1:1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. (Soon. Not 2000 years.)
Look, I’ve been studying this teaching concerning the prophecies of the New Testament for over 20 years from this preterist viewpoint. I even learned Greek to make sure I was getting it right. There is just no way around the fact that the New Testament teaches that the second coming was going to happen before Jesus’ generation died off.
So Dana has just missed where we are in history. So where are we? We live in the still somewhat early days of Christ’s reign. Everything the prophets saw about this has been unfolding – the “increase of his governance and of peace” that Isaiah saw (9:7), or the stone that brought down the image and itself was to become a great mountain, is indeed becoming a great mountain (Daniel 2:35). But this is a process. A long, long process. Remember the parable of the leaven?
But most of us recognize that we are certainly arrived on the precipice of a great historical shift, for great good or great evil. The coming days and weeks are crucial to securing a better future for humanity. I’m fasting for three days. The war in the spirit is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. It’s excruciatingly intense. I’ve literally buckled from the weight of burdens I’ve been handed over the last few months. Those who know, know. All I can do is set my will as strong as I can and pray in faith and remind my Lord that he promised that “the gates of Hell will NOT prevail,” because, by God, Hell is making it’s best run. Right now.
So if I could encourage you to fast and pray, do so with us who are in this fight to the death. Keep the faith. And don’t forget to laugh at evil from time to time. And don’t worry, Donald Trump is in God’s hands.
