What is ironic is the entire belief system is missing the one part which puts the entire scope into the correct focus, meaning for centuries now they've misinterpreted the point, which is hard to believe because it's the most obvious part. Which is the point from which the story is told, they've bungled it by assuming it was told from a point of view of any other story but it's not and that's like painting a green room white and calling it wood paneling.

Your response re: ASO makes perfect sense given the evidence you have presented and my own interpretations of the film.

Really like that you have touched upon FMJ.. that film in particular is really lacking for in-depth analyses online. Sometimes looking at Kubrick's scripts makes me lol just thinking how many times something will be referenced and how little viewer realizes this while watching (e.g. "shit"/waste/turd/toilets/etc. in FMJ, "eyes"/watching/seeing/looking in EWS, "time" and the sexual innuendos in Lolita, and so on).

As for the tarot, the idiom you mentioned certainly applies. As for film, I think it is open to even more interpretations. I had realized the significance of the tarot in Kubrick's work for some time, but you have added a whole new dimension with the ancient Egyptian religion and mythology stuff. Keep going! :)

I'll see about the saturn thing some time, I am just putting the finishing touches to a tarot breakdown of FMJ, ACO & EWS...to go with The Shining one that I've already done and have since updated. So that will be 4 major films covered by the tarot. Up until the last few months, I had completed discounted the tarot...and now it has totally blown this research open for me...perhaps it's because a picture (like the tarot card) can speak a thousand words! Just like Kubrick's film images can speak a thousand words too.

Yup...multi layered is the key. Nothing seems to have just the one literal meaning, thats what I think. You're probably connecting the crescent with 'the moon' for the Isis reference. Of course Isis/Osiris & Thoth are closely connect all the way through the myths, he supplied the 'magic' to re-animate Osiris' body after Isis gathered the pieces. The crescent is also the crown of kether too...enlightment/third eye awareness.

Think about it...the vertically flipped start image from 2001 (thoth/hermes)...the crescent, the eye beneath it and the sun/planet on the top of the head (made by the shadow)...this image is shown as the film opens...the screen IS the monolith and the monolith IS the screen (same dimensions) and as Thoth/Hermes comes into view (and the world riddle plays in the background, to add to the mix) we're literally being told that this screen IS the 'emerald tablet' of thoth...hence why he is show from the very start! The monolith/film is the emerald tablet...explaining to us that 'that which is above, is also below'...from the macro universe all the way down to the micro-scopic .

Thoth/Hermes is holding the caduceus (kundalini snake) and that is also a reference to our 'DNA' ladder internally...the film itself is processing us internally. This isn't just Dave Bowman's journey...it's ours too.

However, I always thought the 2001: ASO upside down crescent was a reference to Isis? Obviously its open to interpretation and multilayered.

I think I pm'd you on Ager's forum about this, but I'd like to see you do a post about Kubrick and Saturn... 12, the cube, the hexagon, time, and so on seem to crop up a lot.
