Hi MK...another interesting connection to that book, I will have to dig around and see if I can find it, extra bonus points for getting it into the Batman series...almost seems like a small homage to Apocalypse Now, Kurtz as a surrogate father to Willard, before he kills his 'surrogate-like' father (Kurtz). I can understand and appreciate exactly where you are coming from...I've noted these strange convergences (with reality/media) myself and sometimes it feels like a 'cosmic joke' is being played out in front of you and in real time!!! I can't think of a better way to describe this phenomena than that, because imo it IS an operating phenomena (at least from my POV and yours too)...indeed, it's proper Twilight Zone stuff or proper Philip K Dick stuff, if you prefer!

Of course...this sounds totally mad, but hey I'm not going to let any fear of this 'madness' get in the way...it is what it is and I will say it like it is, regardless.

Hi yes...I covered that 'Monarch' poster in several aspects from the image of the minotaur to MKUltra (monarch programming). The Theseus & Ariadne story being part referenced via the 'trail of breadcrumbs' comment from Wendy (ala Ariadne's ball of string)etc. I also noticed a 'Monarch' poster aspect in Burton's first Batman film...just prior to Wayne's parents being killed and noted that the poster is displayed at the cinema. The Shining 'Monarch' image...I found that the lower section resembles the 'haunches' and the other poster (to the right, above the twins) near the top of the image resembles the head/horns.

I haven't seen Room 237 and will be viewing Inception fairly soon.

I will be looking at Inception in the near future (still not viewed yet) and I'll consider the other aspects you've mentioned too. 'Knowing' I have seen and while watching I felt that it mirrored some of what I do here, it certainly had that feel about it. Sorry I took so long to reply...but I've not had the time recently.

Yes some good points that you've picked up on...in the as 'above, so below' sense ala Hollywood. Re: Rivers...obviously there is an aspect that population centres would form around rivers and estuaries etc...for the purposes of agriculture, transport etc etc...the same with coastal areas too, societies naturally being drawn to them...that has to be factored in. The Nile delta as a template for others to follow and employ could be a factor though and one that may be reflected in the modern world, but I am just guessing.

Hi. Wow, been reading this site all the entire day and it is truly mind-blowing! Also been reading some Rob Ager, like a previous poster.
Anyway, I've noticed some very strange personal occurences. It seems what is projected from the screen into your mind plays a weird synchronistic effect in reality...
A sequence of events:
1) I watch John Carpenter's THE THING last night
2) Today, I check out this site and make a mental note of "I am the walrus"
3) Later, I have dinner and a David Attenborough doc. comes on TV about ANTARCTICA (the place of THE THING)
4) It shows WALRUSES
5) Two men at the end of the programme sit at a table, playing chess, and drinking whiskey (all events in THE THING)
6) I see Countdown on TV, a contestant is named Johnny Walker (after the whiskey!)
7) On the same webpage, I have PREVIOUSLY read of THE SHINING with refs to Johnny and the whiskey he drinks (Jack Nicholson)
8) The Attenborough doc also showed a white rabbit in the arctic, same image I've been reading about!
9) The beetles on the CHESSboard in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS remind me of a Clive Barker story called, Babel's Children. I look it up. There are old men who race frogs over a map of the world, apparently making political decisions (lol) and one of them is named GOLDBERG, which I shortly read about on your site!
10) I notice that Michael Jackson's MOONWALKER (Johnny WALKER) is on this same page, only to have a relative give me a book about him shortly after!!!

I'm rambling a bit, maybe, as these aren't in chronological order, but do you agree, this is incredible!

Inception absolutely could take up an entire post, but here's the part that seems most relevant to this blog as it relates to The Shining.

I don't know if you've seen Room 237 or not, but one of the theories was that the figure in the Monarch was a minotaur, which would relate to the hedge maze and the King Minos, minotaur, Theseus and Ariadne myth that is basically replayed in The Shining and Inception. Ellen Page's character is named Ariadne.

It should be noted that in Century City, the Creative Artists Agency is located on Avenue of the Stars. ICM is on Constellation Boulevard. There is the Galaxy Garage where you park for the Fox Studios there too.

Also, what I am REALLY hoping you take a look at Inception in this matrix fashion. I would love to read about Inception as it relates to dreams and mazes. Christopher Nolan seems deeply entrenched in this matrix with all of films, as you've noted with Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises.

Other actors to look at more closely, like with Jim Carrey in this post: George Clooney, Nicolas Cage and Will Smith. Actresses: Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman

We call actors 'Stars', and then wonder why they are playing out these astrological archetypes. All the world's a stage? Even the movie studio names clue us in: 'Orion', 'Lion's Gate', 'Universal', 'Tristar' (belt stars).

On another note, why do all major 'Empire cities' have a river running through it like Luxor, are they based on Luxor? The Thames, Sienne, Tiber etc. They all have Egyptian monuments too.

I asssume you're 'long time reader'...with a post script (add-on). I always liked Lynch even as a child (which might seem odd) but there it is. I was also exposed to Kubrick, particularly 2001, in my early youth too and likewise Dennis Potter (a literary & TV hero of mine). Dennis Potter's The Singing Detective (the inspiration for Mark Frost's Twin Peaks writing!) is perhaps...one of the best pieces of work (I can think of) that can prepare a viewer to deal with distinct mutiple realities, fantasies & time zones, ones that overlap, intertwine and ones that sometimes operate in a non-linear (including flashback) fashion. The story literally operates on 4 seperate levels, all concurrently and intertwined etc. Simply an incredible piece of TV writing...that is unlikely to be matched imho.

Anyway...
I was initially a big fan of the Twin Peaks series and enjoyed a lot of it at that time...I've only returned to it in the last few years...and am an even bigger fan now! I liked Lynch before TP, having seen Blue Velvet (which blew me away), Dune (I adore, even if David doesn't) and Elephant Man (hollowed me out emotionally, like never before, although I was quite young then) Lynch is very much like Kubrick and by that I mean, he does not offer any real explanation for his output, leaving the viewer to decide for his or herself.

Re: Lost...I don't know if you're going to believe me or not...but I have yet to see a single episode of the Lost TV series...I haven't seen a single one of them! Everything I've included with Lost, has been just through a little reading of factoids, looking at a few pictures and a few short youtube clips...that is it! Personally I've found that it sometimes gets to the point...that I just know what to look for and usually it is there...generally without having to put in too much effort. Yes there will be a deal of 'confirmation bias' in some of the work...but that is to be expected, as it is with most research.

I've briefly seen the Lost 'encyclopedia' and on that book the creators even expressly state that 90% of the story operates below the surface (like an iceberg, is the analogy they use) and that a tremendous amount of work went into the backstory, the character inter-realtionships, the 'veiled' aspects etc etc...you get the idea....they admit that they buried it and in a big way. That is something I quite like and I did appreciate reading that particular blurb...on the back of the book. They've certainly made no secret of this fact.

I'll check out the link you've provided...thanks again for the comments and hopefully there'll be more.

Hello 'long time reader'...and bearer of kind words, you're most gracious, thank you. Yes...it seems the Osiris/Set/Horus/Isis mythos has been rinsed through the ages (including Christianity)...and there is certainly a cosmic and earth bound version (above, below)...as I've shown. The astronomic event being so heavily connected to Egypt and its development (the earth bound version, in one aspect, symbolising the same) with the inundation of the Nile and the delta. There is also seemingly an internal (human) aspect that I'm picking up on...via the brain/spine etc. Which obviously is very interesting, considering the dynasties go back thousands of years...and yet they seem to have intimate and (anotomic) detailed knowledge of the brain and its function(s).

Yes...Rob Ager has done some great work in this field and I do very much respect his contributions. He's done more than most to help popularize this sort of research and that should be remembered.
