We’re supposed to be over and done...I know, I know. We’re supposed to be over and done with this type of writing. Just a couple things to get out of the way, and that’ll be it, I promise.

There is this irking feeling I get seeing how I spelt Sam Neill’s name wrong, the same way This Morning did. It’s because of them I don’t have much of an excuse. I got the Inception character Cobb’s name wrong in a similar fashion, but there wasn’t any curiously well-timed TV programme to make that one stand out (plus I can’t stand that movie). So to be clear, yes, I am aware of how to properly spell Samael Kneel.

As for Roy Orbison’s “In Dreams”, because I forgot the quotation marks to indicate song title, it looks like I’m talking the 1999 movie In Dreams — something I actually had been meaning to do. In that case it’s not wholly a mistake, the song being a part of the soundtrack and where the film gets its title.Uncle Bingohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13002613868837493730noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6076855809263297950.post-66835488351519122332020-08-21T06:14:51.104+01:002020-08-21T06:14:51.104+01:00The content of your blog is exactly what I needed,...The content of your blog is exactly what I needed, I like your blog,
I sincerely hope that your blog a rapid increase in traffic density,
which help promote your blog and we hope that your blog is being updated.
pplay slots
ีuplay365https://www.blogger.com/profile/05316279763253358196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6076855809263297950.post-1247930738165112532020-08-19T03:11:59.654+01:002020-08-19T03:11:59.654+01:00Say it ain't so Joe! It has to be the pantheon of old gods and myths that gives this latest piece such a refined and sophisticated texture, I get a hankering to pair it with something like I would a nice Rioja. At least for most of it. The latest stuff concerning the nightmare world planners at center stage, like Dr. Fausti and Dr. Kill Gates, has me wanting a lager more than ever. Plus the release of the Kraken meme alongside the news about Antarctica... That's some wild timing right there.
Cthulhu has those same massive cephalopod features as the Kraken, the comparison pretty much makes itself, although I find the Great Old One shares more attributes ascribed to the Leviathan, another link with the Great Red Dragon of Revelation. Both the Leviathan and Cthulhu are unstoppable dragons of the deep sea who symbolize a total defiance of natural world order, as a kind of ultimate challenge to our reality. It wasn't until he pictured in his mind the God-given description of the Leviathan that Job finally bowed to the unknowable and repented; second-to-last of the 42 chapters, three after the talk about loosening "the bands of Orion".
Looking into the etymology just now, I've noticed an interesting connection between the Leviathan and the Kraken... Both have names derived from words that designate something "twisted".
Charles Hallahan, the actor who played Norris (Norse) in Carpenter's The THING, was also in one of the Lovecraftian HBO movies produced by Gale Anne Hurd, Cast a Deadly Spell, in which he played a detective named Morris Bradbury. Verifying Hallahan's role as Bradbury with an internet search, I got as a top result this article https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/CU2007/S00194/brackett-bradbury-lovecraft-honoured-with-1945-retro-hugos.htm announcing today's (July 30) Retro-Hugo Award winners. As usual, the headline says it all. You can understand how if you search for a review of Cast a Deadly Spell, where you will no doubt find mention of Raymond Chandler, since the flick is largely an homage to Howard Hawks' The Big Sleep, with a hard-boiled protagonist named Philip Lovecraft instead of Philip Marlowe. There isn't any Bogey signature ear-pulling in it, like the kind John Carpenter had Sam Neil do in In the Mouth of Madness to pay tribute to The Big Sleep, but it does star Julianne 'Big Lebowski' Moore.
Witch Hunt, the sequel to Cast a Deadly Spell, has Dennis Hopper play DT Lovecraft, and reunites 'Blue Velvet' Hopper's acting with an Angelo Badalamenti score. A fun fact I learned recently is that Howard Carpenter worked with Roy Orbison, so that is John Carpenter's dad we hear on viola when we hear In Dreams. I also learned that is David Lynch's own hair on the Mister E.s, the twin ear props from Blue Velvet. It's a wonderfully strange, beautiful world, Phat.Uncle Bingohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13002613868837493730noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6076855809263297950.post-56843333511117586072020-07-24T19:09:22.321+01:002020-07-24T19:09:22.321+01:00Yes, that's nice. It was on the news ticker, etc. It certainly piqued my interest - and I had zero idea that any of this was happening. I don't follow US sports - and if I did, NHL would likely be the last sport that I'd pay any attention to. Anyway, just after noticing this news - I then log into the blog here and see your comment about the very same!

The "release the Kraken" meme is all-over this NHL stuff - they've really gone to town on the myth/legend and threat. I'd say that the meme "release the Kraken" - is one of the most popular memes of recent popular culture. The 2010 film (Clash of the Titans) did a lot for expanding this meme. That said, this meme had memetic qualities long before the internet, and likely due to the 1981 film where it originated. I used to know someone back in the mid-1980s who used to utter this "release the Kraken' phrase - in a kind of jokey way. I'd sometimes hear it elsewhere too, but not in regularity.

Even 'Andromeda Straining' Crichton referenced 'the Kraken' via his posthumous novel 'Pirate Lattitudes' (2009, the 1st novel released after his death). It's used in Pirates of the Carribean via Davy 'tentacles' Jones, although I've never seen any of those Depp pirate films - I just know of them. 'Dead Man's Chest' - which makes me think of Norris in (Lovecraftian) Carpenter's The 'virus/shoggoth' Thing. A lot of the popular culture influence re: the Kraken is clearly from Tennyson's sonnet The Kraken. Incl. Lovecraft (Cthulu), Wyndham, Verne, etc.

Many thanks for dropping the comment, Banazir. Very on point. I will now have to make some additions to this post body. :)Horselover Phathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05166435780296983828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6076855809263297950.post-17471128909797774912020-07-24T03:26:58.823+01:002020-07-24T03:26:58.823+01:00Sure enough the new NHL team is called the Kraken,...Sure enough the new NHL team is called the Kraken, unveiled with the number 32 jersey. It explains the overused Creation of Adam motif popping up in everything from E.T. to Videodrome, and almost as part of the original ending to Disney's The Black Hole. One of the shots was on a track that goes in to a character's eye, and then, starting with Adam's eye, pulls back to reveal the Sistine Chapel. It sounds reminiscent of the dissolve from the shower drain to Janet Leigh's eye in Psycho, which also stars Anthony Perkins, and the first of the Ed Gein troika, along with Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Silence of the Lambs.
In what was likely a typecast role, Anthony Hopkins served up cannibal pies in the movie version of Shakespeare's first tragedy, Titus Andro nicus. There's an inverted kind of Last Supper thing that occurs in the final act of the play, very macabre and gory.
For the ideas of virulent strains, Michael Crichton wrote about a spreading brain disease in his Jurassic Park sequel, The Lost World. One might segue from that to Hannibal Lector, because the disease is brought on by prions, similar to how a disease like Kuru is caused by eating infectious protein (prion) found in contaminated human brain tissue.Uncle Bingohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13002613868837493730noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6076855809263297950.post-23276738736907506142020-07-12T21:25:16.941+01:002020-07-12T21:25:16.941+01:00https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBN0XTVfn0E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBN0XTVfn0E
ekeyrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17413110869433997820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6076855809263297950.post-16197004161977975802020-07-10T08:04:32.653+01:002020-07-10T08:04:32.653+01:00dunno how familiar you are with the bookhouse boys...dunno how familiar you are with the bookhouse boys patch from twin peaks... certainly has a fifth element touch to it. only thing is the sword isn't on fire. yet gerard states fire is used to walk between worlds. fire. walk. with. me. i dunno just spitballin. just seen this.. was why i mentione .

https://www.reddit.com/r/twinpeaks/comments/ho622k/bought_a_bookhouse_boys_patch_on_ebay_and_it_came/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=sharetokugawa7https://www.blogger.com/profile/10278235092433012315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6076855809263297950.post-69415613359428210282020-07-10T06:27:40.953+01:002020-07-10T06:27:40.953+01:00wow love reading your work. didn't finish yet....wow love reading your work. didn't finish yet... but about a month ago I found a cd binder i forgot I had.. inside is the entire discworld series (read by tape etc) guess I know what I'll be listening to in the car for a while. tokugawa7https://www.blogger.com/profile/10278235092433012315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6076855809263297950.post-10011136959677821002020-07-07T16:57:22.802+01:002020-07-07T16:57:22.802+01:00Good stuff Horselover Phat. Not only was he a white, winged horse sired by Poseidon, Pegasus is also responsible for kicking open the Hippocrene spring on Mount Helicon (helix), home to the daughters of Mnemosyne (memory).
