Your blog has some really fascinating and unique insights especially concerning Lynch, whose work I subjectively find fascinating but difficult to grasp mentally. I would be very sorry if you gave up on blogging, even though I understand the frustration you must feel. You have also done some really excellent work on John Carpenter and Stanley Kubrick.

Also... as you would be the one to ask, where do you draw the line between the deliberate insertion of symbols into these films and just pure synchronicity. I'm a big Kubrick/Lynch fan so I know the tremendous effort put forth in the details. Still though I'm inclined to believe some details just manifest themselves, without the intent of the director, simply due to the realms they tap into. Just curious your thoughts if you have time. Thanks for the support anon...really decent of you to say so. I think I will get around to doing it again...just need to rinse the setback out of my system first, regroup and then work away at it. The likelihood is that, as a result, the post will probably end up better than the original...strange as that may seem. It will take a while though...hang in there and hopefully I can deliver.

Just finished reading through your Mulholland Drive article for a second time. It's terrible news that you're upcoming Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive and Eraserhead work has been deleted as I'm sure it would be extremely enlightening to read. I really hope you don't give up on blogging altogether as you've got a terrific talent for this puzzle unraveling and I find it very useful as I can imagine many other people do to. I'll keep checking for any future updates!

No issues with leaving all the 'old stuff' up, I wouldn't take it down. The 'now infamous and deleted post' was a more straightforward piece (than typical), more like the Mulholland Drive one, more focused and it would've 'stood alone' as a piece and one that Peaks fans could appreciate, even without knowing my other work etc. If anything, I just wanted to have my own version of the Twin Peaks (+MD/Eraserhead) mystery out there. I've watched it loads over the years and quite a lot in recent ones, so I thought I might as well write about it etc.

Aye...it's been an absolute nightmare. You can't even use your internet history to obtain an earlier version of a post edit/preview. I had previewed the post countless times (for purposes of seeing how it displayed and how it was developing) yet none of them are recoverable! You can actually see the post 'title' (Twin Peaks - Eraserhead - Mulholland Drive) from previews I'd made, via my internet history (jpeg above) that was the 'actual' piece...the glitch (which duplicates a previous post and overwrites the current one) makes them unrecoverable!

Hi, I don't think that there has been any nefarious activity in regard to my post. it is just one of those things...a blogger glitch and one that google won't rectify. This is the second time (last one was 2012) that this has occurred and I did get a 'deja-vu' moment, when it happened. There is a problem with the 'draft' version of posts...posts that are written/partly written and not yet published. If an issue occurs with your 'draft' (like mine) it is almost impossible to recover...it seems to be quite a common issue, judging by what I've found. If I do this again, I will be taking precautions and backing-up.

Thanks for your well thought out and sympathetic response. Here I sit with the entire post still locked inside my mind...so I've still got all the work to hand. Clearly, this is now about whether I can find the motivation...and of course, at the moment that motivation is depressed. I'll take a bit of time-out and see how I feel in a few days...comments like yours can only help in regard of my motivation. Thanks again for all the positive feedback, much appreciated and very generous of you...I really needed it, tbh.

The time consuming and labourious element is the 'arrangement' (with so many elements) of the post itself, the content isn't really the issue (it's all inside my head). I really wanted to publish this post too, especially with the 3rd series in the process of being made. For the first time, having constructed the (now deleted) latest post...I really felt like I have gotten to the bottom of Twin Peaks and especially from the esoteric POV. The whole show now makes some kind of cohesive sense and I had managed to decipher some of the most veiled, surreal and 'WTF?' aspects (of which there are plenty) from the series and film.

Yes, I'm quick to throw my toys out of the pram, after setbacks...but I tend to find that I need a little grieving time, when things like this happen.

Thanks again Darren...I will keep you posted on developments and hopefully I can salvage something out of all this.

That is real tragic news not only for you HP, but for us Peak-heads who were looking forward to reading it. Being a blogger myself I can well understand the frustration that you must be going through, although your posts contain hours of work compared to mine, so the frustration must be immense and I can understand wanting to throw in the blogging towel after something like this.
I remember when David Plate (who loves your blog BTW) lost all his fine You Tubes when You Tube decided to pull them all and he lost hours and hours of work.
Could it be possible to redo the work in the post not as a blogger post for this blog, but as a book, or article for say a group like Sync Book Press, who I know are big fans of your work?
I would have really loved to have read that article that you were working on, so I guess I'm just trying to find ways to put you back on the horse so I can eventually read it, but I can well understand you wanting to give up blogging, but if you do writing future posts, at least leave your old material up for people like me who love the work.
You certainly have a talent,as your blog-work has shown us.
All the best with whatever you decide to do in the future.
