ENCROACHING DARKNESS: THE PHILADELPHIAN THREAT AND THE EXODUS PROMISE

“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, … I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth” (Revelation 3:7,10).

On Thursday night, September 1, 2022, President “Joseph” Biden was propped up behind the presidential seal in front of historic Independence Hall and gave the most bombastic, provocative, melodramatic and divisive speech that many may feel tempted to compare with Hitler. Personally, I did not watch it as I cannot stand the sight or sound of the man (much like Barack Obama). Or most any of them for that matter. But these two especially (how’s that for honesty). But for the sake of what God is doing in the earth and the incredible signs of warning that He is sending out to not only the born again Church globally, but also the lost world at large, this speech and the bigger picture of what it represents combined with its location begins to take on a life of its own prophetically speaking. It makes those whose spiritual ears are attuned and spiritual eyes affixed look at this event and recognize it for what it is – a God-given sign of what is shortly to come.

According to World Book Encyclopedia, wars are almost always fought over economic issues. Whatever the reasons given for war, the underlying cause is almost always money. “The causes of war may be selfish, base or even wicked, but the reasons stated are usually lofty and noble” (World Book, Vol. 21, p.22). Politicians may offer great speeches that engender patriotism for family and country, but the public will seldom be told the real causes for war.

In exploring and examining the book of John, it becomes critical to first establish Christ’s deity and the demonstration that he was God manifest in the physical realm as the Son of God. This fundamental understanding lays out a proper foundation for the study and further insight of the continuing hidden treasures seen in the rest of the book of John. Now, we continue on with the peculiar mention of the six stone water pots in chapter 2 – a cryptic prophecy that points us directly to the concept of six millennial days – or six one-thousand year periods of human history that will ultimately culminate in the Rapture event, Tribulation Period and the establishment of the much anticipated seventh millennium of Paradise on Earth.

If you are concerned about rightly dividing the word of God, then you are involved with a subject biblical scholars call hermeneutics. According to Dr. A. Berkley Mickelsen, hermeneutics “designates both the science and art of interpretation. The Greek verb hermeneuo means ‘to interpret or explain.’ The Greek noun hermeneia means ‘interpretation.’ In both the Greek counterpart and the contemporary technical term, interpretation has to do with meaning” (A.B. Mickelsen, Interpreting the Bible, page 3).

PREPARING TO RIDE – THE SEALS OF THE FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE

“And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder …” (Revelation 6:1).

At this point in the Revelation narrative, we have seen the Church Age come and go in the Seven Church Ages in the Dispensation of Grace. This Age of Grace concluded with the departure of all true born-again believers in Christ off of the earth in Revelation 4:1 before judgment struck the earth.

All of those who personally received Christ while on Earth during the Age of Grace are now in Heaven receiving (or in some cases losing) reward for their service performed (or not performed) for the Lord while on Earth during the time they were in their earthly bodies …

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).

With that understood, it is most interesting to observe the divine and supernaturally influenced structure of the Bible that displays a providential fingerprint of authenticity. We see that fingerprint of authenticity on clear display when reading the judgments of the book of Revelation. As such, it should make it that much more certain in anyone’s mind that these judgments are certain to come to pass according to God’s prophetic plan as displayed in this most fearful and important book. In the previous installment, the ongoing dilemma facing American agriculture posed by the so-called Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) was discussed. As recounted in that installment, unless something can be done and soon, certain fruits and vegetables could potentially disappear from your dining room table. In a worst case scenario, CCD could, in conjunction with other problems facing the world’s food supply, bring about a famine of – dare we say it – biblical proportions. This would be disastrous to say the least. However, the primary reason for the last installment was to reveal the spiritual application of this problem. That is, famine is permitted by God to show us of our need for his word. The collapsing bee colonies are a picture of the spiritual collapse going on inside of Christianity at large. APPROACHING THE LAST DAYS FAMINE

“And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar” (Acts 11:28).

In the days when the earliest believers were taking the message of the Messiah to a largely secular world, the Spirit of God revealed that, in the midst of their efforts, and perhaps to underscore their message, a global famine was coming and that they should make preparations to endure it. Two thousand years later, that same Messianic message is going forth, perhaps as never before, and to an equally secular world. Furthermore, it can be accurately stated that the Spirit of God is once again forewarning his people of an approaching famine.
