I think it was more of a failure of the writer to investigate fully enough. I used the form on express.com to point out the error in that article. The page online has now been edited to remove "The Open Scroll" as an attribution. The paper did not extend any apology to me, or give any notice of any kind, with no email from them to me about it, and nothing appearing on their page dedicated to such matters.
