Charles Kennedy admits he has struggled against alcohol
We got it wrong about Charles Kennedy, leader of the UK Liberal-Democrat Party.
We thought his problems were being exaggerated.
Kennedy has now admitted (5 January 2005) that he has "struggled" against alcohol. He claims he has not had a drink for two months now and is in good health.
He says he wishes he had admitted his drink problem earlier - but he is determined to carry on as leader of the Liberal Democrats.
He says he will call a leadership election to give party members a say over his - and his party's - future. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/4582930.stm
Do the oligarchs want Mark Oaten as Liberal-Democrat leader in the UK?
A plot by the extreme right against Charles Kennedy?
