The Times told in advance that Labour would win Glenrothes?

Was the Glenrothes by-election, in Scotland, rigged at the last moment?

A lot is at stake, including Scotland's fabulous oil and alternative energy wealth, and military bases.

The Times (Rupert Murdoch), Scottish edition, on 7 November 2008, has a story by Angus Macleod, entitled "Labour scent stunning victory at Glenrothes".

This story, written before the result was known, tells us that:

1. "The victory for Labour came as something of a surprise since senior Government sources had been briefing over the past 48 hours that they believed the seat was lost to the SNP."

2. "The result represents a major turnaround for Labour."

3. "...The victory comes on his (Gordon Brown's) home turf of Fife."

4. "For the SNP, the result spells the end of the political honeymoon..."

Had Macleod been tipped off by mysterious dark forces?

Was Macleod using a script written by the security services?

We know this news story was written before the result was known because Angus Macleod begins the story by writing:

"Gordon Brown appeared to have completed a remarkable political resurgence early this morning when Labour seemed to have overcome the odds and won the Glenrothes by-election...."
