The problem as I see it, is that there is a never-ending trail of unwanted, unloved kids.
We have had 40 years of contraception and sexual liberation, and still the rates of abortion and unwanted pregnancies is so high.
Working as a child therapist, the history taking questions would just about start with ' was x a planned pregnancy?' and 99 times out of a hundred, the answer was 'no'.
Incidentally, I worked amongst many professionals in medicine, along the English Child Guidance lines, and the Tavistock in London was the holy grail of psychoanalytically inclined professionals.
I actually got into the Institute by attending a conference on Creativity run by London psychoanalysts.
In my state in Oz, that was truly a breakthrough.
And some of the names you mention here, Kurt Lewin for example, were names in text books and references during my student days.
