Former Pentagon battlefield analyst, Marc Garlasco, investigated the deaths for Human Rights Watch.

"You have the crater size, the shrapnel, the types of injuries, their location on the bodies. That all points to a shell dropping from the sky, not explosives under the sand," he said.

"I've been to hospital and seen the injuries. The doctors say they are primarily to the head and torso. That is consistent with a shell exploding above the ground, not a mine under it."

Mr Garlasco produced shrapnel from the site apparently marked as a 155mm shell used by the army that day.

The Guardian article points out:

Hospital admissions records, testimony from doctors and ambulance men and eyewitness accounts suggest that the (Israeli) military has got the timing of the explosion wrong, and that it occurred while the (Israeli) army was still shelling the beach.

In April 2006, the Islam Defenders Front used violence to stop the publication of a nudity-free Playboy magazine in Indonesia.

Who is behind the terror in Indonesia?

The real power in Indonesia is the military. The military is involved in various illegal businesses. But the military has more than one faction. And various factions within the military have a history of setting up 'militant Moslem groups' in order to do their dirty work.

In The Asia Times ( a counter-offensive ) 14 June 2006, Gary LaMoshi wrote:

Violent extremism's renaissance began with police using vigilantes to extract protection money from reluctant bar owners and blossomed with the military's logistical support to send thousands of jihadis to the Malukus and central Sulawesi to undermine Abdurrahman Wahid's presidential election victory in 1999... Government reluctance to stand up to thugs gives the impression of implicit approval, or that the extremists serve a higher authority.

The present president of Indonesia is General Yudhoyono, a friend of the USA.

Some people suspect that a certain military faction would be happy to replace Yudhoyono.

The Islam Defenders Front (known as FPI) is a militant Moslem group believed to be working for elements of the police and/or military.

Gary LaMoshi, in the Asia Times ( a counter-offensive ) 14 June 2006, wrote about an attack of former president Wahid on 23 May 2006:

At an interfaith forum in the West Java town of Purwakarta, members of FPI and other radical groups forced Wahid, virtually blind and limited physically because of a series of strokes, off the stage.

The radicals cited Wahid's opposition to the anti-pornography bill as an insult to Islam.

Mainstream Muslim groups Nahdlatul Ulama - formerly headed by Wahid - and Muhammidyah, with a combined membership of 70 million, denounced FPI's action against Wahid.

Hundreds of his young supporters from the National Awakening Party's paramilitary wing poured into the streets, clashing with FPI members.

It may not have been just the political cover from mass organizations and the prospect of further street violence that moved the government.

If the extremists went after Wahid, a Muslim cleric and scholar as well as a former president, no politician could feel safe.

While Wahid's iconoclasm and failed presidency - he was removed in favor of Megawati Sukarnoputri after two stormy years in office - have left him virtually powerless, he's still widely respected as a symbol of Indonesia's unique brand of Islam.

Radicals might have miscalculated Wahid's political impotence as a signal they'd win applause rather than condemnation for attacking him.

'Invisible hands'The Yudhoyono administration's campaign against violent Islamists began innocently in the president's Pancasila Day speech on June 1. Pancasila (Sanskrit for "five principles") is the national philosophy enshrined by the nation's founders and subsequently corrupted under Suharto. In his speech, Yudhoyono called for a revival of Pancasila and accused "invisible hands" of trying to spread ideas against the nation's core principles of tolerance and pluralism.

According to accounts by retired officials of the Israeli secret service, the Mossad, the Israelis were simultaneously training the Sri Lanka Army and the Tigers, and providing arms to each.

Victor Ostrovsky, author of By Way of Deception, told Indian Abroad news service in 1991 that the Tigers were trained in Israel in 1985. "These groups kept coming and going. It was part of our routine job to take them to training camps and make sure that they were getting training worth what they paid for, not more and not less." The groups paid in cash.

Ostrovsky said that the arrangement for the training was made by the Mossad liaison in India, who lived there under a British passport.

A December 1983 Sunday Mail article reported that the Mossad was arming and training the Tigers, as well as the Sri Lankan Armed Forces.

One of the main figures involved in these operations, according to other reports, was Rafi Eytan, the former head of the Israeli intelligence agency LEKEM, which had been caught running spy Jonathan Pollard in the United States. Following the 1985 scandal, Eytan was transferred to become the head of Israeli Chemical Industries, in which capacity he spent time in Sri Lanka.
The British Special Air Services (SAS) firm Keenie Meenie Services, was simultaneously training the Sri Lankan Army and the LTTE.

Known drug connections: The LTTE is believed to finance its weapons procurement through drug trafficking. The LTTE is reported to be involved in trafficking heroin through Bombay, Turkey, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Canada, and the United States. In the early 1990s, over 600 cases involving Sri Lankan Tamil traffickers were reported to Interpol.

Virgin Cola, hailed by Branson in 1994 as the inevitable successor to Coca-Cola, has practically disappeared.

Virgin Clothes, launched on the stock exchange in 1996, folded with losses to shareholders.

Virgin Money was launched with a glitzy advertisement of Branson emerging naked from the sea, but did not deliver the expected big financial rewards.

Then came Virgin Vie, Virgin Vision, Virgin Vodka, Virgin Wine, Virgin Jeans, Virgin Brides, Virgin Cosmetics and Virgin Cars - none fulfilling their creator's inflated dreams.

Other disappointments were truly painful. Virgin Express, an airline based in Brussels, was intended to rival easyJet, but the original investors on the stock market lost money.

Similarly, the McCarthy brothers, who invested over £30m in V2, Branson's second music company, lost all their money and, unable even to pay the milkman, faced personal bankruptcy.

Australians who invested in the 2003 flotation of Virgin Blue, an audacious, no-frills airline, rewarded Branson with over £200m for a stake of his original investment. Initially the airline was successful, but soon after Branson pocketed the money, shareholders watched the share price fall.

His ventures have also included two catastrophes. Virgin Rail was Branson's big dream. For years he had campaigned in Westminster about the advantages of privatising the rail network. Branson posed as the socially acceptable capitalist, able to offer cheap, modern and reliable rail travel without government subsidies. His promises were not fulfilled. Virgin Rail remains dependent on state money, aggressively protects its monopoly, and is subject to innumerable passenger complaints. The company's history damaged the Virgin brand.

A good company is one that cares about its customers. The impression some people get of Virgin rail and Virgin.net is of employees, usually young, who lack any idea of how to be polite and helpful to the customer.

Shot by the Gestapo?

1945.

A young Jew shot by the Gestapo during a dawn terror raid in Berlin, in 1940, broke down today as he described the moment the Gestapo stormed his house.

Aaron Frank choked back tears as he recalled the early morning raid.

Aaron told a conference how he was woken by the screams of his younger brother.

"From my room I could hear this screaming so I got out of bed," he said. "I assumed a robbery was happening."

He told how he moved very slowly down the stairs before suddenly seeing a spark and hearing a big bang.

"I fell on the wall," he said. "I was on the floor, I looked at my chest and I saw bleeding coming down my chest and I saw the hole in my chest.

"At that moment I knew I was shot."

Aaron said that as he lay on the stairs bleeding and fearing for his family he was kicked in the face by a Gestapo officer and told to "shut the f*** up."

Aaron told how he put his hand over his chest and saw two officers walking towards him. He then described feeling the shotgun against his chest.

He said: "I was begging 'please, please, I cannot move'."

He claimed that as he pleaded with them, the officers told him to 'shut the f*** up, stay here, stay here'.

"At that moment I thought they were going to shoot me again or shoot my brother," he said.

"I heard them shouting 'secure the room'.

"At that moment I still did not know they were the Gestapo, they never said a word about the Gestapo."

Aaron claimed he was grabbed and dragged down the stairs and then thrown on the pavement outside.

He added: "I just thought 'they're going to kill us'."

Aaron pointed out that he did not realise the raid was a Gestapo operation until he was lying on the street.

He also said he did not support Jewish terrorism.

"Violence is not in my nature. It's not in my religion," he said.

He said that during his detention in Gestapo HQ he feared officers would frame him.

Aaron said his only crime was being Jewish.

UK police raid in East London

Mohammed Abdul Kahar, 23, choked back tears as he recalled the 4am raid.

Mr Kahar told a packed press conference how he was woken by the screams of his younger brother.

He said he was clad only in boxer shorts and a t-shirt.

"I assumed a robbery was happening," he said.

He recalled being woken up by an alarm which appeared to be coming from inside their house.

He said his elder brother emerged from his own bedroom and started going downstairs before suddenly being shot.

He said: "After that it was all quiet. No one said anything. I thought it was like a dream.

"After about one or two minutes I realised that this was not a dream. I realised that my own brother had got shot for no reason. They tried to murder my brother."

He then saw the police officers dragging his brother downstairs, hitting him as they went.

He said: "I kept thinking to myself, 'why didn't they shoot me instead?'."

He was taken outside, handcuffed and told to look at the ground.

He said: "At that time I kept saying to the officer, 'please tell me, is my brother ok? Is my brother ok?'.

"They told me, 'just shut up, don't say a word, look down on the floor'."

Mr Kahar said he was in great pain when he was taken to the hospital, adding: "It seemed like fire. I was burning."

He said he had pleaded with the doctor not to allow him to be taken away to be interviewed, but he had seen police officers asking the doctor to release him early.

He said while he was being interrogated officers repeatedly asked him if he was a member of an extremist group, including at one point the Ku Klux Klan.

His brother told the press conference that before the raid in Forest Gate, east London, he had applied to be a community police officer.

He said he no longer wanted to join the force after the events of June 2.

The brothers' personal testimonies could pile more pressure on Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair, who has faced fresh calls to resign since the brothers were released without charge on Friday, a week after their arrest.

Yesterday, senior figures, including the Prime Minister and London Mayor Ken Livingstone, gave Sir Ian - also under pressure over the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes - their personal backing.

Asked about Sir Ian's future, the brothers stopped short of calling for him to go today.

Mr Koyair said: "Whoever is responsible should be put to justice, whoever gave the order for this happen."

Mr Kahar said: "I want everyone that was involved in it to apologise."

Mr Kahar said he supported the role of the police, adding: "Without police the country would be lawless."

He said that during his detention in Paddington Green police station he feared officers would frame him.

He told reporters: "All the way through my detention I kept thinking they are going to frame me, they are going to frame me."

He said: "I'm a law-abiding citizen. I was born and bred in east London. I love my town."

He went on: "I ain't done nothing to this country. This is my country. I love everyone around."

Experts have suggested that the brothers can expect compensation running into six figures.
The two men were arrested when 250 officers - some armed and some wearing chemical suits - raided their house in Lansdown Road.

Both were held under anti-terror legislation.

Since the raid, Scotland Yard has insisted officers had no choice but to act after receiving intelligence about the existence of a chemical bomb.

Mr Kahar said he "had no idea" who could have given the police intelligence about them.
"From my point of view the person who did this they have terrorised me and my family," he said.

Mr Kahar said his only crime was being Asian and Muslim.

He said he felt no pain from the shot at first but claimed he felt scared as officers allegedly attacked him after he was shot.

"I was begging them, I asked them to spare my life," he said.

Mr Kahar, with his right arm still in a sling, said he was given no warning before being shot in the chest.

"He (the officer) looked at me straightaway and shot and I fell on the floor," he said.

"I did not know myself I was shot until I saw my wound."

He also alleged that no one from the police had had "the decency to phone up and apologise".
Not even the senior officer had said sorry, he said.

Mr Kahar repeated his call for an apology to him and his family but added: "Suing the Met is not even in our heads at the moment."

"This has ruined my life," he continued. "I cannot sleep, I have flashbacks, I cannot sleep with the light off.

"I want everyone that was involved, whoever gave the order for the raid to happen, for the shot to go off, everyone involved to apologise."

When Mr Koyair was asked about reports suggesting he had shot his brother, he responded: "I was really upset. I would never lay a finger on my brother."

Family spokesman Asad Rehman, who also speaks for the Justice4Jean campaign set up after Mr de Menezes was shot by police in London last July, said the bullet fired at Mr Kahar had only missed his heart because of the angle it entered his chest as he came downstairs.

Mr Kahar said he would not be able to return to his house after the ordeal he had suffered.
He said the interrogation had been "like hell", adding: "I knew they made a mistake from the time they entered my house. We are an innocent family."

Asked whether he would be seeking financial compensation from the police, he replied: "I am not interested in money at all. I want everyone to be brought before the courts for the way I was shot."

What is in the minds of the UK military?

How do you explain 9 11 and the London Bombs? Are elements of the military trying to get us to hate Moslems?

The Sunday Times, 11 June 2006, has an article by Peter Almond entitled Beware: the new goths are coming.

The new goths are coming

Rear Admiral Chris Parry, a top UK military strategist, warns that western civilisation faces a threat similar to the barbarian invasions that destroyed the Roman empire.

Parry spoke to senior officers and industry experts at a June 2006 conference. Parry is head of the development, concepts and doctrine centre at the Ministry of Defence. His task is to examine national security policy.

Parry says:

1. North African "barbary" pirates could be attacking yachts and beaches in the Mediterranean within 10 years.

2. The UK and Europe could be undermined by large immigrant groups.

3. There is unlikely to be assimilation.

4. If there is a security breakdown it is likely to be brought about by environmental destruction, a population boom, new technology and radical Islam.

5. The armed forces are likely to use robots, drones, nanotechnology, lasers, microwave weapons, space-based systems and even "customised" nuclear and neutron bombs.

6. As flood or starvation strikes, the most dangerous zones will be Africa, particularly the northern half; most of the Middle East and central Asia as far as northern China; a strip from Nepal to Indonesia; and perhaps eastern China.

7. 2012 to 2018 is the time when the present global power structure is likely to crumble. Nations such as China, India, Brazil and Iran will challenge America’s sole superpower status.This will come as "irregular activity" such as terrorism, organised crime and "white companies" of mercenaries burgeon in lawless areas.

8. "When you combine the lower prospects for communal life with macho youth and economic deprivation you tend to get trouble, typified by gangs and organised criminal activity. When one thinks of 20,000 so-called jihadists currently fly-papered in Iraq, one shudders to think where they might go next."

9. The competition for resources, Parry argues, may lead to a return to "industrial warfare" as countries with large and growing male populations mobilise armies.

Peter Almond, in The Sunday Times, writes:

Terry Jones, the former Monty Python star, has spoken up for the barbarians’ technological and social achievements in a television series and has written:

"We actually owe far more to the so-called ‘barbarians’ than we do to the men in togas."

What do we think? Parry is worried by the threat of hordes of Moroccans, and other North Africans, coming into Britain.

Morocco has a government kept in power by the USA and its allies. The Moroccan elite, especially the generals, are fabulously rich and own a large part of the land. Most of the population are kept poor and often illiterate. The secret police ensure that there is no real chance for trade unions or the honest political parties to flourish.

If Morocco had a government like that in Sweden or Switzerland, then wealth would be spread more evenly.

As families grow more wealthy and become better educated, they have fewer children; and they are less likely to want to invade Britain.

What about Radical Islam? In those big Moslem countries where they hold elections the militants seldom get more than 5% of the vote. Think of Malaysia or Indonesia. The militant Moslems only flourish when:

(1) the voters can see no alternative to the existing corrupt regime; think of Algeria in recent decades.

(2) the militants, as in Afghanistan, are supported by the CIA.

The US and UK militaries should kick out the generals with a fascist philosophy and bring in some more enlightened folks.

More prosperity and improved education in Northern Africa will lead to falling birth rates.

Odd features of the London police raid at Forest Gate

On 11 June 2006, in the UK Sunday Telegraph, Ian Duncan Smith, the former leader of the UK Conservative Party, wrote about the Forest Gate terror raid in East London.

Briefing wars won't stop the bombers

Duncan-Smith, whose constituency is next to Forest Gate, has noticed certain very odd features of the police raid.

Duncan-Smith writes:

First, after the pre-dawn raid on Lansdown Road, there was the reported shooting. Then rolling news showed vast numbers of armed police wandering around the cordoned-off area dressed in chemical suits. It was the worst possible nightmare, journalists told us: a chemical weapon, which the police, operating on a reliable tip-off, were searching for. People had been arrested.

The unofficial briefing was strong, and from the information given out by police sources it appeared that some sort of gun battle had taken place as officers moved in. Many would have concluded that this meant that those arrested were guilty and it was only a matter of time before the terrible weapon would be found.

Then the picture began to get cloudy, as the family said there were no weapons, guns or chemicals. Police sources retaliated by indicating that one brother had shot another as the police entered. The credentials of their informant, and the quality of the tip-off, were first class, the police hinted. More searching was required.

It was at this point I began to feel uneasy. My mind travelled back to last summer and the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes. I remembered the briefing war through the airwaves as police certainty and assurances were challenged and proved hideously wrong… and I began to wonder.

Suddenly, the news from Forest Gate changed as it emerged that a police officer might have shot one of the suspects. Confusion reigned. Then on Friday night, the suspects were released without charge.

While this was going on in London, we heard about an operation in Canada with the arrest of terrorist suspects in Ontario. Almost immediately there were raids in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, and Manchester; follow-ups, we were told, to the Canadian operation. It was at this point that I was contacted by someone close to the Dewsbury events, raising concerns. One of the houses the police raided was the home of Yacub Munshi, a noted Islamic scholar.

However, I was also told that General Sir John Kiszely, a holder of the Military Cross and Director of the Defence Academy, had visited Mr Munshi at home four days earlier to discuss ways to improve relations between the Muslim community and British institutions. As I understand it, Mr Munshi is a highly respected figure in the community, someone who has preached peace and opposed the men of violence.

The person who passed me this information raised the concern among some... that ... extremists were using disinformation to sow discord....

Duncan-Smith, who is a friend of the military, fails to mention Operation Gladio, the Stay-Behind Groups and the Strategy of Tension.

Just before the police raid at Forest Gate, Britain was visited by two important people: Richard Perle and the US director of national intelligence John Negroponte.

The Forest Gate raid resulted from a 'tip-off to the police from an informant'. Early reports said that the tip-off to the police came from foreign sources. Perhaps they were American-Israeli sources?

The sandy beaches and the sleepy hamlets of Goa are no longer safe. They are, in fact, turning into a hideout for members of the underworld from Mumbai.

While the police continue to deny it, over the past few months more and more names are cropping up, thereby tarnishing Goa's sunny name.

Says a senior police officer, "There is absolute lack of intelligence gathering in the state."

So one more murder in broad daylight where a gangster was killed by people brandishing swords and threatening others with guns...

Then what happened at Chimbel yesterday – was it a one off incident or something to start worrying about? The fact that the criminals used swords and threatened someone with swords shows the seriousness of the situation. This is not your ordinary vaddo fight with people yelling over the village well but indicates that something sinister is happening in Goa.

That is what the Herald was trying to highlight - that more and more dangerous persons are entering Goa and nothing is known about it or being done about it...

Yes, what is being done about this rise in crime that is plaguing Goa today? Drugs, paedophilia and now gang wars. What safety can the common man look forward too?

Has Goa become another Bihar where the rule of the gun has surpassed the rule of law? Has Goa degenerated so much that today no one cares for the man in khaki and what are the men in khaki doing about it. Each passing day, with each additional murder, Goa’s peaceful and tranquil image is getting tarnished. And that is what we at Herald are concerned about - “what about the common man’’ and when will the government do something to reassure them before it gets out of control.

The new face of the UK Conservative Party - Gerald Howarth

Today's typical British Conservative Member of Parliament is Gerald Howarth.

What do we know about Howarth?

He is Shadow Defence Minister.

He is a friend of ex-MP Neil Hamilton.

He is the Thatcherite MP for the military town of Aldershot.

He is the former parliamentary private secretary to Margaret Thatcher.

He was a member of the Tory "No Turning Back" Group from 1990-92.

His views on Clause 28, immigration, anti-racism laws, support for former Chilean leader General Pinochet and Neil Hamilton are extreme right-wing.

Howarth was highly critical of the government's treatment of General Pinochet.

Howarth described Pinochet as "a true friend of the UK".

Howarth opposed the scrapping of Clause 28.

Has David Cameron's Tory Party really changed?

Of course not.

The Conservatives are still the party of the Pentagon, Israel and Big Business - just like Blair's Labour Party.

The Government Gunpowder Plot

Many historians believe that:

1. James I's Protestant spymaster, Robert Cecil, was the brains behind the Gunpowder Plot.

2. Some of the Gunpowder plotters were working for Cecil.

The story goes that Cecil manufactured the plot in an attempt to discredit the Catholic cause.

In the climate of fear following the Gunpowder Plot, Cecil and his supporters were able to pass more anti-Catholic laws and to make more money from fines on Catholics.

Cecil was in a position to destroy Catholic rivals, such as the Earl of Northumberland, and had an opportunity to seize Catholic lands.

The official story of the gunpowder plot does not make sense.

The 'confessions' were obtained under torture.

Why would the Catholic plotters have wanted to blow up parliament when it housed not only Protestants but also all the country's leading Catholics?

Elizabeth, James' protestant daughter, was was due to take over, if the plotters succeeded. Why would the Catholic plotters want Elizabeth on the throne?

The government had a monopoly on gunpowder and it was stored in places like the Tower of London. How did the conspirators get hold of 36 barrels of gunpowder without drawing attention to themselves?

How was the gunpowder moved across London from the Tower of London to Westminster (at least two miles distant) without anyone seeing it? The River Thames would not have been used as it could have lead to the gunpowder becoming damp and useless. Thirty six barrels would have been a sizeable quantity to move without causing suspicion.

Why were men who were known to be Catholics allowed to rent out a house so near to the Houses of Parliament?

How did they move 36 barrels from that house to the cellar of the Houses of Parliament without anyone noticing?

Why, for the first time in history, was there a search of Parliament's cellars that conveniently found Guy Fawkes.

Why was the soldier who killed Catesby and Percy at Holbeech House in the Midlands, given such a large pension for life (10p a day for life) when their arrest and torture was more desirable so that the names of any other conspirators might be found out?

Government plot to blow up the Queen

In 1887, British police uncovered the ‘Jubilee Plot’, a plan to blow up Westminster Abbey, Queen Victoria and half the British Cabinet.

The bombers were linked, by letters, to Charles Parnell and other Irish MPs who supported Irish independence.

The ‘ringleader’ of the plot was Francis Millen of the Clan na Gael.

He was allowed to escape to the USA where he died in mysterious circumstances.

The case against Parnell collapsed.

The letters were shown to be forgeries, written by Dublin journalist Richard Pigott and sold to The Times.

Millen had been recruited by the British government 'to stir the Fenians into bombing Britain' – a scheme designed to discredit the Home Rule movement.

Millen was hired with the approval of the Conservative leader, Lord Salisbury, the Prime Minister.

German troops cleared of killing boy.

In Berlin, three German soldiers have been found not guilty of the manslaughter of an English boy.

The trio had all denied the manslaughter of 15-year-old Andy Cream, a non-swimmer, who drowned in a French canal in May 1943.

Cream was one of four alleged looters trying to find food at a time of hunger. Cream was allegedly forced into a canal in May 1943.

Speaking after the verdict, the solicitor for one of the accused, said: "He has served the Reich well. He wants to state his total appreciation to his regiment, the Schutzstaffel, for their support during a most difficult period."

The court heard that the dead teenager, who could not swim, struggled in "obvious distress" in the canal before disappearing underwater.

One of the four British 'looters', Alan Hanley, said he had been beaten repeatedly by the soldiers before being driven to the canal.

Three soldiers have been found not guilty of the manslaughter of an Iraqi boy, at a Colchester court martial.

The trio had all denied the manslaughter of a 15-year-old, a non-swimmer who drowned in a Basra canal in May 1943.

The boy was one of four alleged looters stopped by Iraqi police and British soldiers and allegedly forced into Shatt al-Basra canal.

Speaking after the verdict, a solicitor said it was an "ill conceived" case which had left the soldier "embittered".

"He has served his country well in a difficult situation.

"He wants to explain his total appreciation to his regiment for their unstinting support through a most difficult period."

The soldiers had been accused of forcing four suspected looters at gunpoint into the Shatt al-Basra canal to "teach them a lesson".

The court heard that the dead teenager - who could not swim - struggled in "obvious distress" in the canal before disappearing underwater.

Diego Garcia, Israel, South Africa

'Freedom Next Time' is a new book by the world famous journalist John Pilger.

It is about abuse in many parts of the world.

1. Diego Garcia

The US government wanted a military base at Diego Garcia on the Chagos Islands. The British removed the islanders from their homes. Pilger reminds us that the mainstream media kept pretty quiet about this act of abuse.

A secret UK government document, dated 1968, was called "maintaining the fiction".

This document was about telling deliberate lies, including the idea that the people of the Chagos islands were not permanent inhabitants.

2. Israel-Palestine

Britain is supposed to be fair to both Israel and Palestine.

Pilger points out that:

A. Britain has given more than £70m in military equipment to Israel in the past five years,

B. Britain is Israel's chief supporter in the EU.

C. Britain has resisted calls to end preferential trade arrangements for Israel.

Pilger claims that Britain and France gave Israel a "green light" to attack the West Bank in 2001.

Pilger explains that Ehud Barak never offered to give up 90% of the West Bank.

Pilger interviewed Liana Badr, the director of the Palestinian Cultural Centre, after the centre has been wrecked by the Israels.

Badr said: "We have been raped; and all the while, the perpetrators are crying that they are the victims, demanding the world's sorrow and perpetual silence about us while their powerful army demolishes our culture, our lives."

3. South Africa

South Africa is rich in minerals.

Pilger reports that, thanks to the World Bank, the average black household income has fallen by 19% since independence.

Pilger writes:

"The unspoken deal was that whites would retain economic control in exchange for black majority rule."

Pilger explains that, before 1994, there were secret meetings in Britain between Thabo Mbeki, the white elite and the big global companies with links to South Africa.

Mandela said to Pilger:

"We do not want to challenge big business that can take fright and take away their money . . . You can call it Thatcherite but, for this country, privatisation is the fundamental policy."

Pilger writes of Mandela that "as the first liberation president, he ordered a ridiculous and bloody invasion of tiny Lesotho. He allowed South African armaments to be sold to Algeria, Colombia and Peru, which have notorious human rights records. He invited the Indonesian mass murderer General Suharto to South Africa and gave him the country's highest award . . . He recognised the brutal Burmese junta as a legitimate government."

In 2005, Scotland had a £3.9 billion export surplus - with machinery and transport the biggest export sector.

Mail on Sunday Editorial about the East London raid.

The Mail on Sunday is a top-selling and very influential UK newspaper. It is said to represent the voice of 'Middle England.'

The 'War on terror'... All too often it seems to be a pretext for the spreading of panic and the exaggeration of fear - combined with a failure to foresee or prevent actual outrages.

We have had tanks uselessly deployed at Heathrow Airport, the non-existent plan to attack Manchester United, the fantasy plot to poison the people of London with ricin - and the shooting dead of a wholly innocent man... And now we have the East London poison raid.

This was no simple arrest. There are suggestions that it was preceded by lengthy and rather obvious surveillance. Then in conditions of total publicity, the authorities deployed a force of police large enough to invade a small country and even imposed an air exclusion zone...

Were the extraordinary number of officers really needed, when the public are constantly being told that there is not enough manpower available to deal with ordinary crime and disorder? ...

If the police were hoping to capture alleged terrorists in possession of dangerous materials, why was the area not evacuated first? The way in which the action was conducted kindles the suspicion that it had a propaganda purpose... That it was intended to demonstrate the vigilance and striking power of MI5 and the police...

Was the planning of the operation influenced by political considerations? ...Whose purpose does it serve by spreading alarm and fear?

We know some British teenagers who do not know the name of the capital city of their own country. They can barely read and write.

We know some British teenagers who do not know the name of the capital city of their own country. They can barely read and write. Yet they are of average intelligence.

British state schools are bad and getting worse. They should be closed down.

A re-think of education is required. All schools should be run privately by non-profit making trusts. All schools should be small.

The school day should be about 3 hours. The school leaving age should be around 12.

Much more use should be made of apprenticeships, learning by computer, and 'special' schools.

BBC 1 television should show educational programmes only.

Mothers of young children should stay at home and not go out to work.

According to an article in the Daily Mail, 1 June 2006, more than half of school leavers have problems with the basics.

Hundreds of thousands of teenagers have such poor mastery of the three Rs they cannot scrape a grade C in the two subjects employers and parents regard as crucial.

They are finishing compulsory schooling without the literacy and numeracy skills they need to "participate in life, learning and work" despite a raft of multi-billion pound Labour initiatives...

And the inability of pupils to get good grades comes despite widespread suspicions that exams have been dumbed down in recent years...

Forty-two per cent of pupils finished 11 years of compulsory education without achieving at least a grade C in GCSE English which means they struggle to read and summarise information accurately or use basic grammar...

Forty-eight per cent - or 301,671 - failed to reach the same standard in GCSE maths meaning they are unable to calculate the area of a room.

A total of 54 per cent - nearly 350,000 - fail to achieve the expected level in both English and maths.

The official exams watchdog, the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), says pupils need to meet grade C standard - so-called "level two" - to function as citizens...

Just 46 per cent leave school able to read, write and add up properly.

DEFRAUDING AMERICA

The book "Defrauding America", by Rodney Stich, is about criminal activity by elements of the United Staes government.

Rodney Stich was an FAA investigator who became a whistleblower.

Stich writes:

"Many criminal activities such as the CIA drugging of America will be difficult to believe by most Americans who have been shielded from the truth by a duplicitous Congress and much of the media.

"For those of us who have seen these events as insiders, including those who actually participated in them, questioning whether the CIA would engage in drug trafficking is like asking pilots, 'Will planes really fly?' Yes, planes actually fly, and yes, the CIA has been smuggling drugs into the United States for the past 50 years."

One of the chapters in Stich's book is entitled, "CIA and DEA Drug Trafficking."

Stich writes:

"My phone was used for hundreds of hours of three-way conference calls between CIA and DEA personnel, their wives, a Mossad agent and even Ross Perot. Often the conversations were of the nature of one pilot describing to another events that they experienced each one knowing that any fabrication would be recognized by the other. My position was like a secret mole inside covert CIA activities, adding to the discoveries I made while a federal investigator and while being victimized in one of the many criminal enterprises."

Stich refers to CIA operatives GuntherRussbacher and Trenton Parker.

Stich writes:

"Parker told how the CIA set up the meetings in which various Colombian drug dealers organized into a drug trafficking cartel... He stated that the first meeting occurred with twenty of the biggest cocaine dealers in Colombia present, that the second and final meeting was held at the Hotel International inMedellin attended by about two hundred drug dealers. The Medellin Cartel was established in December 1981, and each of their members paid an initial $35,000 fee to fund a security force for the cartel members to protect their drug operations."

Stich writes:

"CIA operative Gunther Russbacher confirmed the meetings thatParker mentioned and that there had been apreliminary meeting in September 1981 in Buenaventura, Colombia whiche stablished the format for subsequent meetings. Russbacher attended theSeptember 1981 meeting which was initiated by the CIA to facilitate drug trafficking into the United States, permitting the CIA to deal with a group rather than many independent drug dealers."

According to Stich:

"The averageAmerican is unaware of the gravity of the CIA's criminal activities thanks to the orchestrated cover up and disinformation by the establishment media. The corrupt mindset has existed for years.

"Initiating wars as in Vietnam and assassination activities as in Vietnam and Central America are routine... Although the CIA is not permitted by law to operate within the United States, it has done so. It has engaged and is engaging in many forms of criminal activities against the American people.

"Through fronts, cutouts and proprietaries, the CIA has defrauded all types of US financial institutions including savings and loans, banks and insurancecompanies.

"The CIA is a major player inthe looting of Chapter 11 assets, makingthe exercise of Chapter 11 statutory protections a trap for unwary Americans."

Rich describes a conversation with an informant, Gene "Chip" Tatum, a helicopter pilot for the US Army and theCIA.

Stich writes:

During one flight to Tegucigalpa on March 15, 1985, Tatum met with William Barr, Michael Harari (Mossad) and Buddy Young, head of Governor Bill Clinton's securitydetail.

Young: Arkansas has the capability to manufacture anything in the area of weapons and if we don't have it, we'll get it.

Harari: How about the governmentcontrols?

Young: The governor's on top of it. And if the feds get nosey, we hear about it and make a call. Then they're called off.(looking at the ground) Why the hell would anyone want to fight for a shithole like this?

Harari: What we do has nothing to do with preserving a country's integrity. It's just business and third world countries see their destiny as defeating borders and expanding. The more of this mentality we can produce, the greater our wealth. We train and we arm: that's our job. And in return we get a product far more valuable than the money for a gun. We're paid with product and we credit top dollar for product ( drugs). Look, one gun and3 ,000 rounds of ammo is $1,200. A kilo ofproduct (cocaine) is about $1,000. We credit the Contras $1,500 for every kilo. That's top dollar for a kilo of cocaine. It's equivalent to the American K-Mart special: buy four, get one free. On our side we spend $1,200 for a kilo and sell it for$12,000 to $15,000. Now that's a profi tcenter. And the market is much greater for the product than for weapons. It's just goodbusiness sense. Understand?

Young: Damn. So you guys promote wars and revolutions to provide weapons for drugs. We provide the non-numbered parts to change out and we all win. Damn,that's good!

Harari: It's good when it works. But someone, how do you say, has his hand in the coffer.

Young: Well we get our ten percent right off the top and that's plenty. Gofus can make it go a long way.

Harari: Gofus?

Young: Governor Clinton. That's our pet word for him. You know they call the president 'Potus' for president of the United States. Well, we call Clinton 'Gofus' for governor of the United States. He thinks he is anyhow.

Harari: That's your problem inAmerica. You have no respect for your elected officials. They are more powerful than you think and they have ears everywhere...

Young: Aw, hell, Mike. Everybody knows the Clintons want the White House and will do anything to get it. We know about the cocaine. Hell, we've picked it up before with Lasater when he was worried about going on to Little Rock Air Base to get it.

Harari: So who are the players?

Young: Clinton thinks he's in charge, but he'll only go as far as Casey [CIADirector] allows. Me and my staff, we keep the lid on things, you know, complaints about night flying. Arkansas people are private folks. They don't like a lot of commotion and Mena just isn't the right place for the operation. It keeps us busy at the shredder, if you know what I mean. Dan's the man [Lasater]. He does magic with the money. Between him andJack Stephens, we don't have to worry a bit..."

Stich writes:

"William Barr, whom Bush appointed to be the top law enforcement officer in theUnited States, U.S. Attorney General, played a key role in the smuggling of drugs into the United States. The drugging ofAmerica involved the CIA, the military, the White House through Oliver North, George Bush and Governor Bill Clinton among many others. Mena, Arkansas was a key CIA trans-shipment point for cocaine coming into the United States on return flights from Central America delivering guns to kill people in Nicaragua...

"After Clinton was elected President of the United States, his administration and its Justice Department halted all investigations and prosecution of the crimes related to Inslaw, October Surprise, CIA drug trafficking and money laundering, BNL, BCCI and Iraqgate...

"Clinton had much to hide when he left Arkansas to assume the presidency of the United States. His misuse of government facilities and powerto feed his sex drive, his use of drugs, his coverup of the CIA's unlawful arms shipments from Arkansas and related drug trafficking, were crimes. The mysterious deaths, killings and beatings of people possessing information that would expose these corrupt activities added further to Clinton's problems. He certainly needed a thick armor of protective officials in government. Fortunately for him, the U.S. media kept the lid on these major crimes."

Stich refers to FBI Special Agent Richard M. Taus who uncovered evidence of CIA drug trafficking by the "K-Team."

Stich writes:

"the K-Team had a front operation with the patriotic sounding name National Freedom Institute and called its operation the 'Enterprise,' the same that repeatedly surfaced in the Iran Contra congressional hearings... Taus' team discovered that that K-Team was a CIA operation and that it was engaged in drug trafficking, looting of savings and loans and activities related to what later became known as Irangate and Iraqgate."

One of Stich's informants, Gene"Chip" Tatum confirmed these allegations.

Tatum was the helicopter pilot in Central America for Oliver North, Felix Rodriguez (akaMax Gomes) and William Barr (attorneyof the CIA's Southern Air Transport and later Bush's US Attorney General).

According to Stich, Tatum refers to a meeting to

"determine where over $100million in drug money disappeared on the three routes from Panama to Colorado, Ohio and Arkansas. This theft was financially draining the operation known as the 'Enterprise'... The first call was made by Fernandez to Oliver North, informing North that 'the money loss was occurring on the Panama to Arkansas route, and that means either Seal, Clinton or Noriega.'"

Stich continues:

"Fifteen minutes later the portable phone rang and Vice President George Bush was on the line talking to WilliamBarr.

"Barr said at one point, referring to the missing funds, 'Iwould propose that no one source wouldbe bold enough to siphon out that much money, but it is more plausible that each are siphoning a portion causing a drastic loss'... Tatum said that Barr then dialed another number immediately reaching then governor Bill Clinton. Barr explained the missing money problem to Clinton explaining that over $100 million of the Enterprise monies had disappeared... warning that the matter mustbe resolved or 'it could lead to big problems.'"

Stich writes that Tatum described "flying the group to Santa Ana, Honduras meeting with Enrique Bermudez and other Contra leaders and visiting a cocaine processing facility. Tatum described the strong smell of jet fuel and acetone and the large fuel pods that had the tops stripped off them and in which were fuel andleaves.

"Tatum repeated what Oliver North said, 'One more year of this and we'll all retire.'"

"North added, 'If we can keep those Arkansa shicks in line that is,' referring to Barry Seal and Governor Clinton... As Tatum listened to these conversations he remembered the army officer's' remarks, 'Tell no one. There's no one big enough in your chain of command.'"

Stich writes about the CIA's death squads.

Stich writes that according to informant Robert L. Freeman, a group was trained by the U.S. military for an operation intended to destabilize Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia - BEFORE the Vietnam War.

"Freeman was one of 45 blacks trained by the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and CIA for the sole purpose of killing anyone, including U.S. service men and advisors.

"He described in great detail how his group was mentally brainwashed, trained and armed, engaged in random and indiscriminate killings to destabilize the region and justify U.S. intervention... Freeman was the head of a five man assassination team ordered by the team's CIA handlers to kill anyone they encountered and leave evidence that another faction had done the killings. Freeman said that for several years his team went on a killing spree, sometimes wiping out an entire small village."

In bed with young boys

In an interview with Larry King on CNN, Elizabeth Taylor has said that she shared a bed with Michael Jackson and his young nephews at the Neverland ranch.

Liz said: "I've been there [Neverland] when his young nephews were there and we were all in the bed watching television - there was nothing abnormal about it.

"There was no touchy feely going on. We laughed like children and we watched a lot of Walt Disney. There was nothing odd about it."

Prince Albert and a 14-year-old from California

Monaco's Prince Albert II, aged 48, has never married.

In July 2005, Albert admitted that he had fathered a son, Alexandre, with a former Togolese flight attendant. The child, now 3, will not have the Grimaldi family name and will not take the throne of Monaco.

Now the French media has reports that Monaco's Prince Albert II will soon admit that he is the father of a second illegitimate child, a 14-year-old girl from Southern California.

In May 2006, the newspaper Le Parisien showed a blurred, front-page photo of the girl with her mum who is a former waitress called Tamara Rotolo.

According to Le Parisien, Albert reportedly had a brief affair with Tamara Rotolo when she was on holiday on the Cote d'Azur back in 1991.

There were telephone listings for a Tamara Rotolo in Palm Desert, California, but the phones have been disconnected.

Tamara Rotolo filed a paternity claim shortly after the child was born. A court in California dismissed the case.
