International geopolitical tensions between the United States/NATO and Russia have escalated quite dramatically in more recent days. More specifically, earlier this month. As readers of this site may also be aware in matters of Bible prophecy fulfillment, we do know that from the plain surface reading of scripture that there is a possible major military exchange between America with its allies and Russia, which can be found in the notorious end times prophecy found in the book of Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39, called the war of Gog/Magog. This war, or military conflict, is said to involve Israel being invaded as well. Although there are some who disagree with this narrative, this is the general consensus among most Bible prophecy scholars.

However, in this posting, I wish to revisit a hidden or cryptic prophecy that was expounded upon in a previous article that can be found in the book of 2 Kings chapter 2 and its description of a historical event that witnessed the disappearance, or “rapture,” of the prophet Elijah that was accompanied with the theme of the bear – and more specifically, two she-bears. It is in this cryptic prophecy that we may find verification and authentication to the narrative that the war of Ezekiel 38 & 39 will involve Russia with ally Iran and America/NATO nations of the West along with Israel in the mix, as is the general consensus. If it turns out that Ezekiel 38 & 39 are not what scholars generally identify as a Russian war against Israel and the West in the last days, the cryptic bear rapture prophecy reference in 2 Kings 2 is, in and of itself, very intriguing and a likely scenario that points us to what is seemingly on the verge of playing out here today in these end times.

As we read the passage, we discover that the two bears attacked and mauled 42 young men who were mocking Elisha, who himself was walking along side Elijah when he disappeared. In a further detailed look at this historic event, one will find some compelling and intriguing evidence that the Elijah rapture event in ancient Israel seems to be a prophetic template of what will happen in our immediate future today on a global scale that will be accompanied with the theme of a bear striking the modern Vineyard of the U.S.A. (Matthew 21:33-43). As we all know, the symbol of Russia is a bear. Given that the 2 Kings 2 narrative involves two bears, we may also assume that along with Russia will be its ally Iran, which is ancient Persia that shared the emblem of a bear in the Daniel 7 description of the second beast (more on that later in this article and in part 1 of this article linked above). With that in mind, it is important to first establish the concept that what God is going to do in the future, he has already given us a prophetic typology or foreshadow of the event that occurred in the past. In other words, when considering an Old Testament typology of this clearly stated New Testament future event, it is of utmost importance to recognize that within biblical prophetic scripture, we are told that history will repeat itself. This concept is clearly stated in Ecclesiastes …

“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.  Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us”(Ecclesiastes 1:9-10).

“That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past” (Ecclesiastes 3:15).

In short, for those new Christians (or those who may not be) who may not be aware, prophecy indicates that all those who are “born again” in Christ will escape a coming dreadful and dark time of seven years of judgment called the Tribulation Period that will strike the earth. Those outside of Christ will be left behind on Earth to experience this horrific and dreadful period of time. Like Elijah, those who are “in Christ,” or “born again” as a part of the corporate body of Christ will disappear in our own mass rapture event, which will be accompanied with the emergence of a very pronounced bear theme just like Elijah’s disappearance was accompanied with a bear theme.
