THE SEVENTH TRUMPET

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever” (Revelation 11:15).

In the previous article of this exploration of each chapter of the book of Revelation series, the two witnesses were covered from Revelation 11. Now suddenly, the scene changes from the two witnesses to the seventh angel sounding. The seventh trumpet involves one of the most important prophecies in the book of Revelation. The scene is pure judgment – launching the long-prophesied “wrath of God.” It begins in the middle of the Tribulation and extends through the millennial reign of Christ and concludes with the Great White Throne Judgment.

As its sound goes forth, there is a great stir of voices in Heaven declaring the end of man’s rule and the transfer of Earth’s government into the hands of Deity. This solemn decree is followed by a seven-fold declaration given by the twenty-four elders …

And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth” (Revelation 11:16-18).

In the previous chapter, we are told that, with the beginning of the sounding of this trumpet, God’s ancient mysteries will be concluded …

But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets” (Revelation 10:7).

Up until now, God has withheld certain “mysteries” from the spiritual eyes and ears from the Jewish people. These included a first-century Jewish failure to recognize Jesus as the Messiah. The dispensation of Gentile Christianity, along with a pre-tribulation resurrection and rapture are mysteries heretofore kept secret. Added to these is the “mystery of iniquity.”

In fact, there are twenty-two references in the New Testament that speak of “mystery,” each corresponding to a theme found in the meaning of the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet. There are five New Testament references where the plural term “mysteries” is found. These five references correspond to the meanings of the five final forms – the soffit letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

However, with the blowing of this seventh trumpet, all riddles are subsequently revealed. Nothing is to be left hidden or unfulfilled. Even the mystery of Babylon is soon unfolded. This seventh trumpet encompasses all of the events recorded in the rest of the book.

Review of the Trumpets

These seven trumpets are distinctly part of a Rosh Hashanah ritual that began when the Apostle John first arrived in Heaven and saw God sitting upon his throne with a sealed scroll in his hand. In the Jewish calendar, the first day (new moon) of the seventh month (Tishri) has been established as Rosh Hashanah (head of the year), and the “Festival of the Trumpets.” Thus begins the “Days of Awe” – the first ten days of Tishri and ending with Yom Kippur, the “Day of Atonement.”

With the blowing of the seventh trumpet, we conclude the Rosh Hashanah liturgy. Note that the “Day of Atonement” ritual is introduced as the temple is opened …

And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail” (Revelation 11:19).

The first four trumpets are grouped together as a single judgment upon vegetation, oceans, rivers and the atmosphere.

Many scholars over the years have said that these judgments seem to be indicative of nuclear war. But in recent years, a more credible explanation has emerged. Many have come to the conclusion that these judgments will be the result of the approaching Planet X system. Some, including those in the study of biblical prophecy, have considered the subject of Planet X as a “fringe topic,” but the evidence would seem to say otherwise.

In taking a look at the judgments pronounced in the book of Revelation, it begins to make entirely more sense than any other explanation. The evidence for Planet X is becoming too hard to ignore quite frankly. As I always say, at the end of the day, scripture is king in deciphering any perceived “fringe theory.” While we do not want to endorse or just blindly accept any theory in prophecy and otherwise, it is also just as foolhardy to not keep an open mind when the evidence and the testimony of those involved are examined. When the judgments of Revelation and Isaiah 24 are examined, the pieces begin to fall into place and begin to make sense when it comes to the much-talked about approaching Planet X system. Many who study the effects that this planetary system will have on Earth as it passes through our solar system and near to Earth explains quite well what we see taking place in the book of Revelation and Isaiah 24.

The remaining three trumpets after the first four trumpet judgments are connected with “woes” upon mankind. The fourth trumpet releases a five-month judgment of torment – painful, but not life-threatening. The fifth trumpet describes horrific misery as an army of what is commonly surmised to be 200,000,000 million soldiers from the East (namely China and allies) kill a third of mankind. However, as stated in the last article in this Revelation study series, more recent biblical prophetic discoveries would suggest something entirely different. Although a vast army with human soldiers may be a part of this prophecy, there are some who point out that this may be a demonic manifestation of a 200 million chimeric horseman army i.e. the return of the Nephilim and has nothing to do with a human army. (see video below).

The evidence for this is quite biblically and scientifically solid given the high occultism being practiced by the Luciferian global elite who run this fallen world. This scenario fits well with the Joel 2 prophecy of the emergence of demonic creatures running loose across the face of the earth causing destruction and death to humanity on a frightening and horrific scale (see the article “RAISING HELL WITH CERN AND SATURN.”

But the seventh trumpet spells the end of any opportunity for repentance. From this point, judgment is certain. Incorporated in this judgment are seven vials of wrath, which makes up the third “woe” judgment. The description of lightning, voices, thundering, an earthquake and great hail is repeated in the seventh vial …

And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great” (Revelation 16:18).

And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great” (verse 21).

This may be the seventh trumpet, but is nowhere referred to as the “last.” These seven trumpets belong to another dispensation. They are not connected to the Church Age. The Tribulation Period is a resumption of the of the seventy weeks of Daniel and, therefore, is connected to the Dispensation of Law. This point is important to make because many assume that this seventh and last trumpet is the same “last trump” that describes the rapture of the Church in 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 – thus they say making the rapture occur in the Tribulation at this trumpet judgment. However, the “last trump” in 1 Corinthians 15 is related to the first trumpet recorded in Exodus 19. According to rabbinical thought, God took the two horns from Isaac’s substitute ram and made two shofar trumpets. The first was blown at Mt. Sinai and the other, called the “last trump,” will be blown at the resurrection and rapture event …

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruption must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Corinthians 15:51-53).

The “last trump” is not necessarily the last trumpet ever to be sounded, but is the last in relation to its category. The Apostle Paul also refers to this “last trumpet” in his epistles to the church at Thessalonica …

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

In his second epistle to the same church, Paul refers to the rapture as “our gathering together unto him” (2 Thessalonians 2:1), and in the following verses uses an unusual term in respect to our departure …

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition” (2 Thessalonians 2:1-3).

The KJV translation “falling away” is unfortunate in light of the fact that all five English translations that predate the KJV translated ἀποστασία as “departing.” The root of this word appears some fifteen times in the New Testament, and most of the time, it refers to a “disappearance” or “departing.” It is quite likely that Paul was simply restating our “gathering together” as our departing from this earthly existence at the calling of Christ. Paul’s obvious teaching of our pre-tribulation rapture means that it cannot occur in the middle of the Tribulation Period at the sound of the seventh trumpet.

On the other hand, neither is the seventh trumpet necessarily the final one. We are told in Matthew 24 that another trumpet will be blown after the Tribulation …

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other” (Matthew 24:29-31).

The three trumpets mentioned above cannot be the same one since the “last trump” occurs before the Antichrist is revealed, and another occurs “after the tribulation.” Furthermore, the last trump concerns the resurrection and rapture of the Church, while the Matthew passage concerns the gathering of the Jewish “elect.” Therefore, we have no reason at all to believe that the seventh trumpet of Revelation is the “last” trumpet as some contend.

The Church Age, or Dispensation of Grace, occurs between the sixty-ninth and seventieth weeks. Therefore, our dispensation is concluded before Daniel’s seventieth week commences.

The Transfer of Sovereignty

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever” (Revelation 11:15).

The sounding of the seventh trumpet causes a great stir in Heaven, producing the proclamation of the coming coronation of Christ as King over the earth. The prayer “Thy Kingdom come” is finally about to be answered. As a result of this proclamation, the seven vials of wrath are poured out, Mystery Babylon is destroyed and Christ returns to Earth in power and great glory. He reigns for a thousand years, then judges the dead and rewards the saints with our final destination, the holy city New Jerusalem.

Christians will never be able to bring in a messianic kingdom as some teach is going to happen. The lofty dreams of godly men cannot solve the problems of the human heart by legislation. Only the physical presence of Jesus Christ can bring peace to this world. The great laws that God gave at Sinai did not keep Israel from religious apostasy and political ruin. How could we ever expect any better results to emerge from the United Nations? Avoiding war is little more than a pipe dream. Mankind cannot enforce peace. It will take Deity and nothing less.

With this proclamation, Christ launches the pure wrath and judgment of God. There is no mixture of grace from this point forward. The final decision is made. Only judgment follows. The opportunity for repentance was still allowed throughout the previous trumpet judgments. We are told that by following the sixth trumpet, mankind unanimously refused to repent of their wickedness and receive the righteousness that only he can give without any human effort …

And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts” (Revelation 9:20-21).

Therefore, grace is cut off from the unsaved inhabitants of the earth who refuse to accept Christ as the payment bearer for their sins. The twenty-four elders enlarge upon this proclamation with seven specific statements in this chapter of our study in this article (Revelation 11) …

And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.” (Revelation 11:16-18).

They can be divided into four and three. Note that the fourth statement, “thy wrath is come,” serves as a center lamp in this menorah design.

menorah gif

All seven statements revolve around this all-encompassing declaration about wrath.

  1. Thou hast taken to thee thy great power”
  2. “And hast reigned.”
  3. “And the nations were angry …”
  4. “And thy wrath is come.”

The chronology of these statements follows the course set out in the remaining chapters of Revelation. The first order of events involves the seven vials of wrath. Having asserted his authority, or “takengreat power,” Christ instructs his mighty angels to deliver seven plagues and gather the angry nations for the battle of Armageddon. Christ returns to reign over the earth for a thousand years. At the close of the seventh millennium, Satan is loosed for a little season to make the nations angry once again – angry enough to engage in the final battle of another Gog and Magog-type war. This brings about God’s final wrath upon the wicked and the judgments of the great white throne.

The Final Three Declarations

5. “And the time of the dead, that they should be judged …”
6. “And that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great.”
7. “And shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.”

This fifth declaration takes us into the future to the Great White Throne Judgment. The sixth declaration offers us a glimpse at the holy city New Jerusalem, the reward of the prophets and saints. The seventh declaration concludes God’s great plan of the ages by telling us that the unsaved wicked have been cast into the lake of fire …

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death” (Revelation 21:7-8).

It is here that God’s mysteries are finally concluded, especially the “mystery of iniquity.” The vision of the seventh trumpet closes with the opening of the heavenly temple …

And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail” (Revelation 11:19).

There are seven great “openings” in the book of Revelation …

  1. A Door is opened in Heaven (4:1).
  2. The Seals are opened (6:1-9).
  3. The Abyss is opened (9:2).
  4. The Temple of God is opened (11:19).
  5. The Tabernacle of Testimony is opened (15:5).
  6. Heaven is opened (19:11).
  7. The Books of judgment are opened (20:12).

The center lamp of this menorah design is the Temple of God – number 4 for the 4th time that an opening is mentioned, thus the 4th lamp of the menorah, which is the servant lamp that all of the other lamps point to.

menorah gif

This 4th opening – the opening of the Temple of God – is the central feature of Heaven’s plan for the defeat of Lucifer and the redemption of mankind. As it is opened, we are shown the heavenly Ark, after which the earthly Ark of the Covenant was fashioned. Though the earthly Ark held the Mosaic Covenant, the heavenly Ark holds the Abrahamic Covenant. The priesthood of the earthly Ark was after the order of Levi, but the priesthood of the heavenly Ark is after the order of Melchezedek.

The Abrahamic Covenant preceded the Mosaic Covenant by 500 years and is the foundation of our entire New “Testament” (Covenant). Christ was the “Testator” (Hebrews 9:16) whose death caused the power and authority of the Abrahamic Covenant to become effective. The “Lamb” of Revelation is the fulfillment of Abraham’s prophecy that, “God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering” (Genesis 22:8). The New Jerusalem, the heavenly city currently in Heaven that comes down to Earth in Revelation 21 after the 1,000 year millennial reign of Christ, is the fulfillment of the city for which Abraham longed …

For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God” (Hebrews 11:10).

the new jerusalem

This verse transfers us to the liturgy of Rosh Hashanah to the liturgy of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. As we gaze upon the glorious Ark, something heretofore inaccessible to human eyes, we see lightning and hail, hear voices and thunder, and observe a great earthquake upon Earth. These events are repeated in chapter 15 and 16, leaving us to determine that the seven personages of chapters 12, 13 and 14 are parenthetical, and do not necessarily follow the blowing of the seventh trumpet.

As you consider verse 19 and its vision of the opened Temple, with its Ark, lightning, etc., note what we shall see in chapter 15 …

And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened” (Revelation 15:5).

Revelation 15 picks up the story left unfinished in chapter 11. After a study of the seven personages in chapters 12-14, we shall return to this story and observe saints, the “Song of Moses,” the lightning, thunder, hail and earthquake. We shall study the seven angels as they emerge from the Temple with bowls of wrath to pour out upon the earth.

THE RAPTURE AND YOUR ESCAPE FROM THE COMING JUDGMENT

The demonstrable divinely inspired text that we call the Bible promises a coming horrendous seven-year Tribulation period of judgment upon Earth for all of mankind, no matter what your religion, belief or creed is, and even to those who don’t believe anything spiritual at all.  We can now clearly see the signs of this approaching nightmare.  However, as we’ve already seen, this same divinely inspired text that we call the Bible promises a dramatic escape from off the face of the earth before this horrendous time of judgment only to a certain category of people.

Put simply, an event is coming that will be so stupendous that it strains the mind to contemplate such an event happening.  It is an event that will see millions upon millions of people across the globe suddenly disappear without warning.  The millions of disappeared will have literally ascended into Heaven itself after instantaneously receiving a new glorified body fit for Heaven.  A body that will be able to withstand the atmosphere and glory of Heaven.  This event is known as the “Rapture.”  But the promise of escape is only to those who are “born again” in Christ.  This is why it is crucial to understand what Christ meant when he declared in no uncertain terms that only those who are “born again” in him will enter the Kingdom of God.  For the explanation of this, keep reading below.

In order to accept the offer of God’s grace and his salvation, you must take the crucial three steps of …

1. Agreeing – A belief and agreeing with God in all that he says in his word, the Bible, about the fact that you are separated from God, as every man and woman on the face of the earth are before accepting his salvation.  The Bible reveals that all are separated from him in a spiritual state of death, or said another way that the Bible reveals it, in a state of sin, that will result in damnation in the afterlife.  Agreeing with God in your heart that you are in need of his salvation.  The Bible reveals that God looks upon the heart of a man or woman, and thus, responds accordingly to the person who comes to him for salvation in recognition of his inability to save himself.  The Bible makes these facts very clear – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).  “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).  The Bible describes these three kinds of death:

  • physical death (the state experienced when life leaves our bodies).
  • spiritual death (spiritual separation from God caused by our state of spiritual death inherited from the first man Adam – the state of sin that results in our daily outward acts of sin, whether deliberate or not, whether omissive or not; and finally …
  • the second death (the fixed state entered into by the individual who dies physically while he or she is dead spiritually). This state is entered into after the death of the body which results in punishment in the afterlife until the event of the Great White Throne Judgment occurs wherein the damned are resurrected from Hades, or Hell, and are judged according to their works and finally destroyed and cease to exist after being cast into the Lake of Fire. Revelation 14 refers to this tragic end of the unsaved as the “Second Death” (verse 14). It is this state of suffering entered into after physical death and then final destruction at the Great White Throne Judgment in particular which is the horrible result of receiving the wages of sin (unforgiven due to unbelief and rejection of Christ). The Lord Jesus Christ frequently described such a death as being irrevocable in a destiny which he called Hell.  He described Hell as a literal place of judgment (Matthew 13:42); a place of everlasting fire (Matthew 18:8); a place of torment (Luke 16:24,28); a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:50); a place of remorse (Mark 9:44-48); of bitter memory (Luke 16:25), and a place originally prepared for the Devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41).  In fact, Jesus more often warned about Hell than he spoke about Heaven.

It is not God’s will or desire that any person should be consigned to perish in Hell (2 Peter 3:9), but rather that all should come to repentance of unbelief toward him and believe on him for the salvation of the individual’s soul.  But God’s justice requires that the “soul who sins” (remains in it’s state of death or state of sin) is the one who will die a second time after a long period of torment (Ezekiel 18:4).  So, agree with God, admitting that you are unable to save yourself and in a state of sin under God’s just condemnation for that sin and that you are in need of his salvation.

2. Believing – Then, believe that God does not want you to perish eternally in the torment of Hell because of your sin.  Believe that God loves you so much that he provided a way whereby he could still be a just, holy and righteous God, and yet pardon you.  Believe that God did not just overlook sin, but that he sent his only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to provide salvation by personally paying the penalty for sin.  Believe that Jesus Christ, whose life, death, burial and resurrection is the best-attested fact of antiquity, did come to earth to live, die, rise again and ascend to Heaven in order to provide justification and salvation for all who trust him.  Believe that he, and he alone, can save you because he has fully satisfied the just demands of God.  Believe that you can’t become righteous in God’s sight by your own effort.  Believe that he wants to save you and that he will save you.  The Bible provides a solid basis for such belief …

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16-17).

“But God demonstrates his love toward us in this:  while we were yet sinners,  Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

God presented him (Jesus Christ) as a sacrifice of atonement through faith in his blood.  He did this to demonstrate his justice because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished – he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies the man or woman who has faith in Jesus (Romans 3:25-26).

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures … ” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

“Jesus answered, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).  “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out [drive away]” (John 6:37).

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20).

3. Calling – It is not enough to agree with God, admit your need, and believe that Christ can and will save you.  You must act upon those facts. God’s requirement is that you repent of your unbelief toward him and actively call upon him for the salvation of your soul based on the fact that you cannot save yourself. It is unbelief in particular that damns the soul to its horrible fate …

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18).

You must be willing to completely turn from your own efforts to save yourself or from any other hope.  You must come to Christ, calling upon him for salvation and counting on the fact that he will do what he has promised.  This means simply taking the gift of pardon and eternal life which he offers.  Merely believing about Jesus Christ without coming to him makes as much sense and is as effective as believing that a medication can successfully treat a fatal disease, but failing to take it.  Yet again, the Bible emphatically and authoritatively provides the basis for such statements.

The word translated “believe” here means to “rest one’s entire weight and trust on the object or person in which the belief is placed.”  It requires action in keeping with the intellectual assent of that belief.

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).

” … but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

The logical question you may be asking at this point is:  “how do I come to Christ and call upon him?”  The answer is that “calling upon the Lord” is just another term for praying, or talking to God.  To talk to God is not a complicated process, dependent upon some special rituals.  God has invited people to approach him through his Son in simple, straightforward terms.  In fact, Jesus approved of the dishonest, despised tax collector who simply prayed, “God be merciful to me, a sinner.”  While the exact words of your prayer to God are not of vital importance (since God sees and knows the attitude of your heart), the following is the kind of prayer that you could pray in calling upon God for salvation …

“Dear Lord Jesus:  I realize that I need you.  I admit that I have sinned and that I deserve your just, eternal punishment for that sin.  But I am sorry for my sin and I am turning to you and asking for forgiveness.  I believe that you died and rose again to pay sin’s penalty on my behalf.  I come to you and open my heart to you.  I ask you to come into my life, forgive me for all of my sin and make me your child.  I invite you to take control of my life and to cause me to be the kind of person you would have me to be.  I thank you for doing this because you have promised that whosoever calls upon you, as I am doing now, shall be saved.  I pray this in the name of your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.”

If this prayer expresses the desire of your heart, I urge you to sincerely and genuinely express it to God as your prayer.  The Bible makes clear that when we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in our heart, God forgives our sins and counts us righteous, and that when we openly confess with our mouth what we have done in our heart,  God gives us assurance of that salvation (Romans 10:9-10).

“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again” (John 3:3-7).

  1. Thanks for your posts – I find it helps me to connect dots in my understanding of some things, as well as inspire research in other topics. Just curious about this:

“… there are twenty-two references in the New Testament that speak of “mystery,” each corresponding to a theme found in the meaning of the the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet. There are five New Testament references where the plural term “mysteries” is found. These five references correspond to the meanings of the five final forms – the soffit letters of the Hebrew alphabet.”

    You count 27 (22+5) occurrences of “mystery/mysteries”, yet Strong’s Greek 3466 shows 28 occurrences:
    μυστήρια — 4 Occ.
    μυστηρίῳ — 2 Occ.
    μυστηρίων — 1 Occ.
    μυστήριον — 17 Occ.
    μυστηρίου — 4 Occ.

I appreciate the connection of Hebrew letters with mystery themes, so I’m intrigued with the reason why there’s this discrepancy. Any explanation for it?

    Best wishes from Cape Town

    1. Hi Derrick. The answer to your question is that Strong’s Greek 3466 identifies 1 Corinthians 2:1 as a portion of scripture that uses the word “mystery,” but it is not so. I’m not sure why Strong’s lists this portion of scripture as containing the word mystery, but as you can see below, it does not contain the word …

“And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God” (1 Corinthians 2:1).

Thus, the original statement that there are a combined 27 instances in the New Testament where the word “mystery” and “mysteries” is used that corresponds to the 22 Hebrew letters and the 5 soffit (or final form) letters for a total of 27 still stands.

      1. Thanks for the clarification. Strange to find a mistake like this in Strong’s, but the editors are obviously human 🙂
